²⁶ And the man wente into the lande of the Hethites, and buylt a cytye and called the name thereof Lus whiche is the name thereof vnto thys daye.

¹² And then Samuel toke a stone, & pitched it betwene Mazphah & Sen, & called the name therof the stone of help, saying: thus farre hath the Lorde holp vs.

¹⁴ Then sayde Samuel vnto the people: come & let vs go to Galgal, & renewe the kyngdom there. ¹⁵ And the people went to Galgal & made Saul kyng there, before the Lorde in Galgal. And there they offered peace offerynges before the Lorde. And there Saul and all the people reioysed excedinglye.

¹⁸ And when Samuel called vnto the Lorde, the Lorde sent thunder & rayne the same daye. And all the people feared the Lord and Samuel excedynglye.

³³ As thy swerde hath made wemen chyldelesse, so shall thy mother be chyldlesse among other wemen. And so Samuell hewed Agag in peces before the Lord in Galgal. And then Samuell departed to Ramath.

⁴⁶ This day shal the Lorde delyuer the into my hande, and I shall smyte the and take thyne head from the, and I will geue the karcases of the hoste of the Philistines this day vnto the foules of the ayre and to the beastes of the earth, and al the worlde shal knowe, that there is a God in Israel.

²⁵ And so from that daye forward was that made a law and a custome in Israel, and dureth to thys day.

³ And these Berothites fled to Gethaim and soiourned there vntil the same tyme.

²⁸ And all Israel hearde of the iudgement which the kyng had iudged and feared the kynge: for they sawe that the wysdome of God was in hym to do iustice.

⁴² (for they shal heare of thy great name and of thy myghtye hande and stretched out Arme) and therfore yf he come & praye at thys place, ⁴³ heare thou vp to heauen thy dwellyng place, and do accordynge to all that the straunger calleth to the for, that all nacyons of the erth maye knowe thy name, to feare the as do thy people Israel, and that it maye be knowen that this house which I haue buylt is called after thy name.

³¹ And he toke .xij. stones accordynge to the nombre of the .xij. trybes of the sonnes of Iacob, vnto whom the word of the lord came sayinge: Israel shalbe thy name.

⁵ And the hoste of the Caldeyes folowed after him, and toke hym in the deserte of Iericho, all his armye beynge scatered awaye from him.

⁹ And the staues of the arcke were so longe, that they were sene a lytle before the quere, but not farre wythoute. And there it remayneth vnto this daye.

¹² And therto the hand of God was in Iuda, to make them of one accorde to do the commaundement of the kynge and the capitaynes, whiche was accordynge to the worde of the Lorde.

¹¹ And the reed sea dyddest thou deuyde in sunder before them, so that they wente thorowe the myddes of the sea drye shoed: and theyr persecuters threwest thou into the depe as a stone, in the myghtye waters,

⁴ But the Lorde is in hys holy temple, the Lordes seate is in heauen: He considereth it with hys eyes, hys eye lyddes beholde the chyldren of men.

³ Whych we haue herde and knowne, and such as our fathers haue told vs. ⁴ That we shoulde not hyde them from the chyldren of the generations to come: but to shewe the honoure of the Lorde, hys myghte and wonderfull worckes that he hath done. ⁵ He made a couenaunte wyth Iacob, and gaue Israel a lawe, whiche he commaunded oure forefathers to teache their chyldren. ⁶ That their posterytye myghte knowe it, and the chyldren whych were yet vnborne. To thintent that when they came vp they myghte shewe their chyldren the same. ⁷ That they also myghte put their truste in God, & not to forget what he had done, but to kepe his commaundementes, ⁸ And not to be as their forefathers, a froward and ouerthwarte generatyon, a generation that set not their herte a ryghte, and whose spirite was not true towarde God.

¹³ He deuided the sea & let them go thorowe it, & made the waters to stande like a wall.

⁷ God is greatly to be feared in the councel of the saintes and to be had in reuerence of al them that are aboute hym.

Who so maketh me a memory all of incense, prayseth the thinge that is vnryght. Yet take they suche wayes in hand, and their soule delyteth in these abhomynacyons.

⁶ But there is none lyke vnto the, O Lorde, & great is the name of thy power. ⁷ Who wolde not feare the? Or what Kinge of the Gentyles wolde not obeye the. For amonge all the wyse men of the Gentyles, & in all their kyngdomes, there is none that maye be lickened vnto the.

⁴⁰ And I wyll set vp an euerlastinge couenaunt with them, Namely, that I will neuer ceasse to do them good, and that I will put my feate in ther hertes so that they shall not runne awaye from me.

⁵ But the Caldees Hoste folowed faste after them, and toke Zedekiah in the felde of Iericho, and brought him presoner to Nabuchodonozor the kinge of Babilon vnto Reblath, that lyeth in the lande of Hemath, where he gaue iudgement vpon him.

⁸ And so the Caldees folowed vpon them, & toke Zedekiah the kynge in the felde of Ierycho, when his hoost was runne from him.

¹² I gaue them also my holy dayes, to be a token betwixte me and them, and therby know, that I am the Lorde, whiche haloweth them.

And so Sydrach, Mysach, and Abednago wente oute of the fyre. ²⁷ Then the dukes lordes and nobles, and the kynges councell came together to se these men, vpon whom the fyre had no maner of power in theyr bodyes: In so much that the very hearre of theyr head was not burnte, & theyr clothes vnchaunged: Yea there was no smel of fyre felt vpon them. ²⁸ Then spake Nabuchodonosor, and sayde: Blessed be the God of Sidrach, Misach and Abednago, whiche hath sente his aungel, & defended hys seruauntes, that put their trust in him: that haue altered the kynges commaundement: and yeoparde theyr bodyes thervpon, rather then they wolde serue or worshyp any other God, excepte theyr owne God onelye. ²⁹ Therfore I wyll, and commaund, that al people, kynredes and tunges, whiche speake any blasphemye agaynst the God of Sidrach, Misach and Abednago, shall dye, and theyr houses shalbe prysed: Because there is no God that maye saue, as thys.

³⁴ When this tyme was passed, I Nabuchodonosor lyfte vp myne eyes vnto heauen, and myne vnderstandynge was restored vnto me agayne. Then gaue I thanckes vnto the hyghest. I magnifyed and praysed hym that lyueth for euermore, whose power endureth alwaye, and his kingdome from one generacion to another: ³⁵ in comparison of whom al they that dwel vpon the earth, are to be reputed as nothinge. He handleth accordinge to hys wyl, among the powers of heauen & amonge the inhabytours of the earthe: and there is none that maye resyste hys hande, or say: what doest thou?

²⁶ My commaundement is, in al my dominion & kingedome, that men feare and stande in awe of Daniels God. For he is the liuinge God, whiche abydeth euer: his kingedome shall not fayle, and hys power is euerlasting. ²⁷ It is he that delyuereth and saueth: he doeth wonders & maruelous worckes, in heauen and in earth: he hath preserued Daniel from the power of the Lyons.

⁴ Ye came to Bethell for to worke vngracyousnes, and haue increased youre synnes at Galgal: ye broughte youre sacryfyces in the mornynge, and youre tythes vnto the thyrde daye.

⁵ but seke not after Bethel. Come not at Galgal, & go not to Bersaba, for Galgal shalbe caryed awaye captyue, & Bethel shal come to naught.

Iames the sonne of Alphe, and Lebbius otherwyse called Taddeus. ⁴ Symon of Cane, and Iudus Iscarioth which also betrayed hym. ⁵ These .xij. sent Iesus forth after he had geuen to them commaundement sainge Go not into the wayes that lead to the gentyls, & into the cityes of the Samaritanes enter ye not.

And they came into an house,

⁴⁰ He aunswered and sayed vnto them: I tell you, yf these shoulde holde theyr peace, the stones woulde crye.

³⁹ For the promyse was made vnto you and to your chyldren, & to all that are a farre, euen as manye as the Lorde oure God shall call.

²³ And when thei had beaten them sore, they caste them into pryson, commaundynge the iayler to kepe them surelye.

³⁵ And when it was daye, the offycers sente the ministers sayinge: Let those men go. ³⁶ The keper of the pryson tolde this saiyng to Paul: the officers haue sent word to loose you. Now therfore get you hence, and go in peace. ³⁷ Then sayde Paule vnto them. They haue beaten vs openly vncondempned, for all that we are Romaynes, and haue caste vs into pryson: & now woulde they sende vs awaye priuely? Naye not so, but let them come them selues, and set vs out. ³⁸ When the ministers tolde these wordes vnto the offycers, they feared when they hearde that they were Romaynes, ³⁹ and came and besought them, and brought them oute, & desyered them to departe out of the cytie.

⁴ For he is the minister of GOD, for thy welth. But and yf thou do euyll, then feare: for he beareth not a swearde for noughte, but is the minister of God, to take vengeaunce on them that do euyll.

¹² And the .vi. aungel poured out hys vyall vpon the great riuer Euphrates, & the water dried vp that the wayes of the kynges of the este should be prepared.
