³¹ At that daye he that is on the house toppe, and hys stuffe in the house: let him not come doune to take it out. And lykewyse let not him that is in the fielde turne backe agayne to that he lefte behynde.

⁴ Sathan answered the Lorde, and sayde: Skynne for skynne? yee a man will geue all that euer he hath, for his lyfe.

⁵ And sekest thou yet promocyon? Loke not for it, and desire it not. For I wyll bryng a miserable plage vpon all fleshe sayeth the Lord. But thy lyfe will I geue the for a pray wheresoeuer thou goest.

²⁵ Therfore I saie vnto you, be not tareful for you life what ye shall eate or what ye shall dryncke, nor yet for your bodye, what ye shall put on, is not the lyfe more worthe then meate, and the body more of value then rayment?

²⁶ What shall it proffet a man though he shoulde wynne al the whole world if he loose hys awne soule? Or els what shall a man geue to redeme his soule agayne withall?

¹⁷ And let him which is on the house toppe not come doune to fetche anye thinge out of his house. ¹⁸ Neither let him which in is the fielde returne backe to fetche his clothes. ¹⁹ Wo in those daies to theim that are with childe, and to them that geue sucke. ²⁰ But praye that youre flyghte be not in the Winter, neyther on the saboth daye. ²¹ For then shalbe great trybulacion such as was not from the beginninge of the worlde to this tyme, nor shalbe:

¹⁴ Moreouer, when ye se the abhomynacyon that betokeneth desolacion, whereof is spoken by Daniel the Prophet, stande where it oughte not, let hym that readeth vnderstand, then let them that be in Iurye, fle to the mountaynes. ¹⁵ And let hym that is on the house top, not descended doune into the house, neither enter therein, to fetche any thynge oute of hys house. ¹⁶ And let hym that is in the fielde: not tourne backe agayne vnto the thynges, which he lefte behynde hym for to take hys clothes with hym.

²¹ Then let them which are in Iwrye fly the to mountaines. And let them which are in the middes of it depart out. And let not them that are in other countries, enter therin.

⁷ But the thinges that were vauntage vnto me. I counted losse for Christes sake. ⁸ Yea I thinke al thinges but losse for that excellent knowledge sake of Christ Iesu my Lord. For whom I haue counted al thinges losse, and do iudge them but dounge, that I myght wynne Christe,
