¹⁹ and shall deliuer hym to the gentels, to be mocked, to be scourged, & to be crucified, and the thirde daye he shall rise agayne.

⁷ Al they that se me, laugh me to scorne: thei shute out their lippes, & shake their heades. ⁸ He trusted in God, let hym delyuer hym: let him helpe hym, if he will haue hym.

¹⁶ With the gredy and scorneful hypocrites they gnasshed vpon me with their teeth.

¹⁹ But as for thy dead men and oures, that be departed, they are in lyfe and resurreccion. They lye in the earthe, they wake, & haue ioy: for thy dewe is a dew of lyfe and light. But the place of the malycyous Tyrauntes is fallen awaye.

³ He shalbe the most simple, and despysed of all, which yet hath good experience of sorowes & infyrmyties. We shall reken him so symple and so vyle, that we shall hyde our faces from hym.

² He hath wounde vs, & he shall bind vs vp agayne after two dayes shall he quicken vs, in the thirde day he shal rayse vs vp, so that we shal lyue in his sight.

⁴⁰ For as Ionas was thre dayes and thre nyghtes in the whales bellye: so shall the sonne of man be thre dayes and thre nyghtes in the herte of the earth.

²¹ From that time forth Iesus beganne to shew vnto hys disciples, how that he must go vnto Ierusalem, and suffer many thinges of the elders, and of the hygh priestes, and of the scribes, and must be kylled: and ryse agayne the thyrde daye.

⁶⁷ Then spat they in hys face and boffeted hym wyth fistes. And other smot hym with the palme of theyr handes ⁶⁸ on the face, sayinge tell vs thou Christ who is he that smote the?

² & broughte hym bounde and delyuered hym vnto Poncius Pilate the debitie. ³ Then when Iudas whiche betrayed him, saw that he was condemned, he repented him selfe, and brought agayne the .xxx. plates of syluer to the chiefe priestes and elders ⁴ saying: I haue synned betrayinge the innocent bloud. And they sayde: what is that to vs? Se thou to that. ⁵ And he caste doune the syluer plates in the temple, and departed, and wente, and honge hym selfe. ⁶ And the chief priestes toke the syluer plates, & sayed: it is not lawfull for to putte them into the treasury, because it is the pryce of bloude. ⁷ And they toke counsell, and bought wyth them a potters fylde to bury straungers in. ⁸ Wherfore that fylde is called the fylde of bloude vntyll thys day. ⁹ Then was fulfylled that which was spoken by Ieremy the Prophete saying: and they toke thyrty syluer plates the pryce of hym that was valewed, whom they bought of the chyldren of Israell. ¹⁰ and they gaue them for the potters fylde: as the Lorde appoynted me.

²⁷ Then the souldiers of the debytye toke Iesus to the common hall, and gathered to hym all the companye. ²⁸ And they strypped him, and put on him a purpyll roobe, ²⁹ and platted a croune of thornes & put vpon his head, and a reed in his ryght hande, & bowed their knees before him and mocked hym, sayinge: hayle kinge of the Iewes, ³⁰ and spitted vpon hym & toke the reed and smote him on the head. ³¹ And when they had mocked hym: they toke the robe of hym agayn, and put his owne rayment on hym, and lead him awaye to crucyfye hym.

⁶⁵ and some began to spit at hym, and to couer hys face, and to beate hym wyth fystes, and to saye vnto him: areade vnto vs? And the seruauntes boffeted hym on the face.

¹ And anone in the daunynge the hye priestes helde a counsel with the elders, and the scribes, and the whole congregacion & bounde Iesus and ledde hym awaye, & delyuered hym to Pilate.

¹⁶ And the soudyers ledde hym away into the common hall, and called together the whole multytude, ¹⁷ and they clothed him wyth purple, and they platted a croune of thornes and crouned hym with al, ¹⁸ and began to salute hym: Hayle kynge of the Iewes. ¹⁹ And they smote hym on the head with a rede, and spatte vpon hym, and kneled doune & worshipped hym. ²⁰ And when they had mocked hym, they toke the purple of hym, and put hys owne clothes on him, and led him out to crucifye him.

²⁹ And they that wente by rayled on hym: waggynge their heades and sayinge: A wretche, that destroyest the temple, and buyldest it in thre dayes: ³⁰ saue thy selfe, and come doune from the crosse: ³¹ Lykewise also mocked him the hye pryestes amonge them selues with the scribes and sayde: he saued other men, hym selfe he can not saue.

¹ And the whole multytude of them arose, & ledde him vnto Pilate. ² And they began to accuse hym saiynge: We haue founde thys felowe peruertinge the people & forbiddinge to paye tribute to Cesar, saiynge: that he is Christ a kinge. ³ And Pylate apposed him saiynge: art thou the kynge of the Iewes? He aunswered him and sayde: thou sayest it. ⁴ Then said Pilate to the hye pryestes, & to the people: I fynde no faute in this man. ⁵ And they were the more fearce saiynge. He moueth the people, teachinge thorowout all Iewrye, and began at Galyle, euen to this place.

¹¹ And Herode with his men of warre despysed him and mocked him, and arayed him in white, and sent him again to Pilate.

⁴⁶ and sayde vnto them: Thus is it written, and thus it behoued Christ to suffer: and to ryse agayne from death the thirde day,

²⁸ Then led they Iesus from Cayphas into the hall of iudgement. It was in the morning and they themselues went not into the iudgement hall leaste they shoulde be defyled, but that they might eate the paschall lambe. ²⁹ Pylate then wente oute vnto them, and sayde: what accusacion bringe ye agaynste this man? ³⁰ They aunswered, and sayed vnto him. If he were not an euyli doer, we woulde not haue delyuered him vnto the. ³¹ Then sayed Pilate vnto them: take ye him, and iudge hym after your owne lawe. Then the Iewes sayed vnto hym: It is not laufull for vs to put any man to deat ³² That the wordes of Iesus might be fulfylled, whiche he spake, signifiynge what death he shoulde dye. ³³ Then Pilate entred into the iudgemente hall agayne, and called Iesus, and sayd vnto hym: arte thou the kynge of the Iewes? ³⁴ Iesus aunswered: saiyest thou that of thy self, or dyd other tell it the of me? ³⁵ Pylate aunswered Am I a Iewe? Thyne owne nacyon and hye priestes haue delyuered the vnto me, What hast thou done? ³⁶ Iesus aunswered my kingdome is not of thys worlde. If my kingdome were of thys worlde, then woulde my mynisters surely fyght, that I shoulde not be delyuered to the Iewes, but now is my kyngdom not from hence. ³⁷ Pilate sayed to him: Arte thou a kynge then? Iesus aunswered: Thou sayest that I am a kynge. For thys cause was I borne, and for thys cause came I into the worlde, that I shoulde beare wytnes vnto the trueth. And al that are of the trueth heare my voyce. ³⁸ Pylate sayde vnto hym: what thynge is trueth? And when he had sayd that, he wente oute agayne to the Iewes, and sayd vnto them: I fynd in him no cause at al.

¹ Then Pylate toke Iesus & scourged him. ² And the souldyers wound a croune of thornes, and put it on hys heade. And they dyd on hym a purple garment ³ & sayde: hayle kyng of the Iewes: and they smote him on the face. ⁴ Pylate went forth agayne, & sayd vnto them: behold I bryng hym forth to you, that ye maye knowe, that I fynde no faute in hym.

²³ hym haue ye taken by the handes of vnryghtuous persons after he was delyuered by the determinate counsell and for knowledge of God, and haue crucifyed and slayne:

¹³ The God of Abraham Isaac and Iacob, the God of our fathers hath glorified hys sonne Iesu, whom ye delyuered and denyed in the presence of Pylate, when he had iudged hym to be lowsed. ¹⁴ But ye denyed the holye and iuste: and desyred a mortherer to be geuen you ¹⁵ and kylled the Lorde of lyfe, whom god hath raysed from death, of the whiche we are wytnesses. ¹⁶ And hys name through the fayth of his name, hath made this man sound: whom ye se and knowe. And the fayth whych is by hym, hath geuen to hym thys health in the presence of you all.

²⁷ For of a trueth againste thy holy childe Iesus, whom thou hast anointed, both Herode and also Poncius Pilate, with the Gentyls & the people of Israel, gathered them selues together,

¹¹ When he was come to vs, he toke Paules gyrdell, and bound hys handes and fete, and sayed: thus sayeth the holye Ghoste: so shall the Iewes at Hierusalem bynde the man that oweth thys gyrdell, and shall delyuer hym into the handes of the gentyls.

³ For fyrste of al I deliuered vnto you that which I receiued how that Christe dyd for oure synnes, agreinge to the scriptures: ⁴ and that he was buried, and that he rose agayne the thyrde daye accordinge to the scriptures ⁵ and that he was sene of Cephas, then of the twelue. ⁶ After that he was sene of more then fyue hundred brethren at ones of whiche manie remaine vnto this daie, and many are fallen a slepe. ⁷ After that appeared he to Iames, then to al the Apostles.
