²⁸ And it came to passe, that when Iesus had ended these saynges, the people were astonyed at his doctrine. ²⁹ For he taught them as one hauing power, and not as the Scribes.

²² When they hearde that they maruayled, and left hym, and went theyr waye.

² And when the Sabboth daye was come, he began to teache in the Sinagoge And many that heard him were astonied, and sayde: From whence hath he these thinges? & what wysedome is this that is geuen vnto him? and suche vertues that are wroughte by his handes?

²² And all bare him witnes, and wondred at the gracious wordes which proceded out of his mouthe, and saide: Is not this Iosephs sonne?

³⁹ Then certayne of the Pharises aunswered and sayd: Mayster thou haste wel sayde. ⁴⁰ And after that durst they not axe him any question at all.
