²⁷ Therfore gauest thou them ouer into the hande of theyr enemyes that vexed them. And in the tyme of theyr trouble they cried vnto the, and thou hardest them from heauen and thorowe thy greate mercye thou gaueste them sauyours, which helped them oute of the hande of theyr enemyes.

²⁹ Neuerthelater ye shall seke the Lord your God euen ther, and shall fynde hym it thou seeke hym wyth all thyne herte and wyth all thy soule. ³⁰ In thy tribulation and when all these thynges are come vpon the euen in the later dayes, thou shalte turne vnto the Lorde thy God, and shalte herken vnto hys voyce. ³¹ For the Lord thy God is a pitiful God, he wil not forsake the neyther destroy the, nor forget the appoyntment made wt thy fathers whyche he sware vnto them.

¹⁶ And the Lord sayed vnto Moses: beholde, thou must slepe wyth thy fathers, and thys people wyll go a whoring after straunge Goddes of the land whither they go, and wyl forsake me and breake the appoyntment which I haue made with them. ¹⁷ And then my wrath wyl waxe whot against them, and I wil forsake them, and wyl hide my face from them, & they shalbe consumed And when much aduersitie and tribulation is come vpon them, then they wyll saye: bycause our God is not among vs, these tribulations are come vpon vs. ¹⁸ But I wil hide my face that same time for all the euyls sake whych they shal haue wrought, in that they are turned vnto straunge Gods.

¹⁴ Wherfore the Lorde waxed angry with Israel, & delyuered them into the handes of raueners to spoyle them, and solde them into the handes of theyr enemyes rounde about them, so that they had no power any longer to stande before theyr enemyes. ¹⁵ But vnto whatsoeuer thynge they went, the hand of the Lorde was vpon them wyth euyl lucke, euen as the Lord promysed them, and as he sware vnto them. And they were sore vexed. ¹⁶ Neuerthelesse the Lord raysed vp Iudges which delyuered them oute of the handes of theyr oppressers,

¹⁸ And when the Lorde raysed them vp Iudges, he was wyth the Iudge, and delyuered them out of the handes of theyr enemyes al the dayes of the Iudge: for the Lorde had compassyon ouer theyr sorowynges whiche they had by the reason of them that oppressed them and vexed them:

⁸ Therfore the Lorde was angrye wyth Israel, and deliuered them into the handes of Chusan Rasathaim Kynge of Mesopotamia. So that the chyldren of Israel serued Chusan Rasathaim .viij. yeares. ⁹ And then the chyldren of Israel cryed vnto the Lorde. And the Lord stered them vp a sauer, and saued them: one Othonyel the sonne of Kenes, Calebs younger brother. ¹⁰ And the spryte of the Lorde came vpon hym. And he iudged Israell, and wente oute to warre. And the Lorde solde Chusan Rasathaim Kyng of Mesopotamia in hys hande. So that his hand was myghtye ouer Chusan Rasathaim. ¹¹ And the lande had rest fourtye yeares. And Othonyel the sonne of Kenes dyed. ¹² And then the children of Israel went to agayne, & commytted wyckednesse in the syght of the Lorde. And then the Lord hardened Eglon the Kyng of the Moabytes, agaynst the chyldren of Israel, because they had committed wyckednesse before the Lorde. ¹³ And this Eglon gathered vnto him the chyldren of Ammon, and the Amalekites & went & smote the chyldren of Israel, & conquered the cytye of paulme trees. ¹⁴ And the chyldren of Israell serued Eglon the king of the Moabytes .xviij. yeares. ¹⁵ And then they cryed vnto the Lorde. And the Lord stered them vp a sauer, Ahud the sonne of Gera the sonne of Iemini, a man that could do nothyng handsomly with his ryght hande. By whome the chyldren of Israell sente a present vnto Eglon the kyng of the Moabites ¹⁶ which Ahud made hym a dagger wyth two edges, of a cubyte lengthe, & he dyd gyrde it vnder hys cote vpon hys ryght thigh ¹⁷ and caried the present vnto Eglon the Kynge of the Moabytes, whych Eglon was a very fatte man. ¹⁸ And when he had presented the present, he sent the people that bare it awaye, ¹⁹ but he hym selfe turned agayne from the Idolles by Galgal, and sayde. I haue a secret vnto the O Kynge: and the kynge commaunded hym to holde his peace vntyl all that stode aboute hym, were gone out from hym. ²⁰ And Ahud came in vnto hym into a somer parler, whyche he had seueral vnto hym selfe alone, and sayde: I haue a message vnto the from God. And he arose out of hys seate. ²¹ And Ahud put forth hys lefte hande and toke the dagger from hys ryght thyghe and thrust it into hys belye; ²² so that the hafte went in after the blade. And the hafte stopped in the fatte, for he drue not the dagger out of hys belye. And the dyrt came out. ²³ But Ahud gat hym oute at a posterne dore, and shutte the dores of the parler vpon hym and locked them. ²⁴ When he was gone out, hys seruauntes came and loked. And beholde, the dores of the parler were locked. And they sayde. A, he is a doiynge of hys easement in hys somer chomber. ²⁵ And when they had taried tyl they were a shamed, for noman dyd the dores of the parler open: then they toke a keye and opened them. And beholde theyr Lorde was fallen doune dead, vnto the earth. ²⁶ But Ahud eskaped whyle they taryed & was gone beyonde the Idolles and eskaped into Seirath. ²⁷ And when he was come he blew a trompette in mount Ephraim. And the chyldren of Israell went doune wyth him of the hille and he before them. ²⁸ And he sayd vnto them, folowe me, for the lord hath delyuered your enemies, the Moabytes into your handes. And they descended after hym and toke the passages of Iordan from the Moabites, & suffered not a man to passe ouer. ²⁹ And they slew of the Moabites the same tyme vpon a ten thousande men, all fatte, & men of might: that there skaped not a man ³⁰ and so the Moabytes were subdued that daie vnder the handes of Israell, and the land had rest .lxxx. yeares.

⁶ And so was Israel excedyngly impoueresshed by the Madianites & cryed vnto the Lord. ⁷ And when the chyldren of Israell cryed vnto the Lorde because of the Madianites, ⁸ the Lorde sent a Prophete vnto them, & sayde vnto them: Thus sayth the Lorde God of Israel: I fette you from Egipt & brought you out of the house of bondage, ⁹ and I rydde you out of the hand of the Egypcians & out of the handes of all that oppressed you, and cast them out before you, & gaue you theyr landes. ¹⁰ And I said vnto you: I am the Lorde your God, & therfore fear not the Goddes of the Amorytes, in whose lande you dwel. But you haue not obeyed my voice

¹⁵ But the chyldren of Israel sayde vnto the Lorde we haue synned: do thou vnto vs whatsoeuer please the, & delyuer vs onelye at thys tyme. ¹⁶ And they put awaye the straunge Goddes from them, and serued the Lorde. And the myserye of Israel greued hys soule.

¹⁰ Then they cryed vnto the Lorde, and sayde: we haue synned, because we haue forsaken the Lorde, and haue serued Baalim & Astharoth. But nowe delyuer vs out of the handes of our enemyes, and we wyll serue the. ¹¹ And the Lorde sent Ierobaal Badan. Iephthah & Samuel, & delyuered you out of the handes of youre ennemyes on euery syde, so that ye dwelled with out feare.

⁵ And therfore the Lorde gaue Israel a delyuerer, & they went oute from vnder the handes of the Syryans. And the chyldren of Israel dwelt in their tentes as before time.

²⁷ And the Lorde had not yet sayde that men shulde put out the name of Israel from vnder heauen. And therfore he holpe them by the hand of Ieroboam the sonne of Ioas.

¹⁷ And so he brought vpon them the kyng of Caldeye & slue theyr young men with the swerde in theyr holy temple, & nether spared younge man nor mayden, nether olde man, nether so moche as hym that stowped for age: But gaue all into his hande.

⁴¹ And gaue them ouer into the hand of the Heathen, and they that hated them, were lordes ouer them. ⁴² Their enemyes oppressed them, and had them in subieccion. ⁴³ Many a tyme did he delyuer them but they prouoked him wyth theyr owne inuencyons and were broughte downe for theyr wyckednesse. ⁴⁴ Neuertheles when he saw their aduersitie he herd their complaynt. ⁴⁵ He thought vpon hys couenaunt, and pytyed them, accordyng vnto the multytude of hys mercyes.

¹⁰ and haue not obeyed the voyce of the Lorde oure God, to walke in his lawes, which he layed before vs by his seruauntes the prophetes: ¹¹ yea all Israel haue transgressed, & gone back from thy law, so that they haue not herckened vnto thy voyce. Wherfore the cursse & othe, that is written in the lawe of Moses the seruaunte of God (agaynst whom we haue offended) is poured vpon vs. ¹² And he hath perfourmed his wordes, whiche he spake against vs, and against oure iudges that iudged vs: to brynge vpon vs suche a greate plage, as neuer was vnder heauen, lyke as it is now come to passe in Ierusalem. ¹³ Yea all this plage, as it is wrytten in the lawe of Moses, is come vpon vs. Yet made we not our prayer before the Lord our God, that we might turne agayne from our wickednesse, and to be learned in thy verite. ¹⁴ Therefore hathe the Lorde made haste, to brynge this plage vpon vs, for the Lorde our God is ryghteous, in all his worckes which he doeth: for why, we woulde not herken vnto his voyce.

²¹ Thus they that escape vpon the hyll of Syon, shall go vp to punysh the mount of Esau and the kyngdome shallbe the Lordes.
