Go with vs & we wyl doo the good, for the Lord hath promysed good vnto Israell. ³⁰ And he sayd vnto hym: I wyl not: but wyll go to myne awne land and to my kynred. ³¹ And Moses sayd oh nay, leaue vs not, for thou knowest where is best for vs to pitch in the wildernesse: & thou shalt be oure eyes. ³² And yf thou go with vs, loke what goodnesse the Lord sheweth vpon vs, the same we wyl shewe vpon the. ³³ And they departed from the mounte of the Lord .iij. dayes iourney, and the arcke of the testament of the Lorde went before them in the .iij. dayes iourney to serche out a resting place for them. ³⁴ And the cloude of the Lorde was ouer them by day, when they went out of the tentes. ³⁵ And when the arcke went forth, Moses sayde: Ryse vp Lorde and let thyne enemies be scatered, and let them that hate the flee before the. ³⁶ And when the arcke rested, he sayde retourne Lorde vnto the many thousandes of Israell.

¹⁸ And make .ij. cherubins of thycke golde on the two endes of the merciseate:

³¹ And thou shalt make a candelstycke of pure thicke golde with hys shaft, braunches, bolles, knoppes and floures proceadynge there out.

⁷ And in getheryng the congregacion together, ye shall blowe and not trompe.

¹³ howe be it there was not made in the house of the Lorde, booles of syluer, shredyng knyues, basens trompettes or any other instrumentes of goulde or syluer, of that money that was brought for the house of the Lorde.

¹² But the Leuites euery one of them that were vnder Asaph, Heman and Iduthun, and among theyr chyldren and brethren, were arayed in bysse and sang wyth Simbales, Psalteryes, and harpes standyng East from the aulter, and wyth them an hundred and .xx. priestes blowynge trompettes.

³ Blowe vp the trompettes in the new mone, vpon our solempne feast daye.

¹⁵ Blessed is the people, O Lorde, that can reioyse in the, & walketh in the lyghte of thy countenauce.

¹³ Offre me no mo oblacions, for it is but loste laboure. I abhorre youre incense. I maye not awaye with youre new moones, youre Sabbathes and solempne dayes. Youre fastinges are also in vayne.

¹ Set the horne to thy mouthe, & blowe: get the swyftly (as an Aegle) vnto the house of the Lorde: for they haue broken my couenaunt, & transgressed my law.

¹⁴ Proclame a fastynge, call the congregacyon, gather the elders & all the inhabiters of the lande together into the house of the Lord your God, & crye vnto the Lorde:

⁵ Let there be but one Lorde, one fayth, one baptysme,

⁵ Preache in Iuda and Ierusalem, crye out and speake: blow the trompettes in the land, crie that euery man may heare, and saye: Gather you together, and we will go into strong cyties.

¹⁵ Blowe oute with the trompet in Syon, proclame a fastynge, cal the congregacyon, ¹⁶ and gather the people together: warne the congregacyon, gather the elders, brynge the chyldren & suckelynges together. Let the brydgrome go forth of his chambre, & the bryde oute of her closet.

²¹ Moreouer seke oute amonge all the people, men of actiuitie which feare God and men that are true and hate coueteousnes: & make them heades ouer the people, captaines ouer thousandes, ouer hundredes, ouer fifty & ouer ten.

⁴ and wyth you shall be of euerye trybe a heade man in the house of hys father. ⁵ And these are the names of the men that shall stand with you: of Ruben, Elizur the sonne of Sedeur: ⁶ of Simeon, Selumiel the sonne of Sury Sadai: ⁷ of the trybe of Iuda Nahesson the sonne of Aminadab: ⁸ of Isachar, Nathanael the sonne of Zuar: ⁹ of Zabulon, Eliab the sonne of Helon. ¹⁰ Amonge the chyldren of Ioseph: of Ephraim, Elisama the sonne of Amihud: of Manasse, Gamaliel the sonne of Pedazur: ¹¹ of BenIamin, Abidan the sonne of Gedeoni: ¹² of Dan, Ahiezer the sonne of Ammi Sadai: ¹³ of Aser, Pagyel the sonne of Ocran: ¹⁴ of Gad, Elisaph the sonne of Deguel: ¹⁵ of Nephthaly, Ahira the sonne of Enan. ¹⁶ These were the councelers of the congregation & Lordes in the tribes of theyr fathers and captaynes ouer thousandes in Israel.

² then the prynces of Israell heades ouer the houses of their fathers whyche were the Lordes of the tribes that stode and numbred,

¹⁵ And then I toke the heades of youre tribes, men of wysdome & that were expert. and made them ruelars ouer you: captaines ouer thousandes, & ouer hundreds, ouer fyfty & ouer ten, officers a monge youre trybes.

³ On the East syde toward the rysynge of the Sunne shall they of the standarte of the host of Iuda pytch wyth theyr armes: And Nahesson the sonne of Aminadab shalbe captayne ouer the sonnes of Iuda. ⁴ And his host and the numbre of theym .lxxiiij. thousande and .vi. hundred. ⁵ And next vnto hym shall the trybe of Izachar pytche and Nathaneell the sonne of Zuar captayne ouer the children of Izachar, ⁶ his host and the numbre of them .liiij. thousand .iiij. hundred. ⁷ And then the trybe of Zabulon: wt Eliab the sonne of Helon, captayne ouer the chyldren of Zabulon, ⁸ and hys host in the numbre of theym .lvij. thousand & .iiij. hundred. ⁹ So that all they that pertayne vnto the hoste of Iuda are an hundred thousand .lxxxvi. thousand and .iiij. hundred, in theyr companyes: and these shall go into the forefronte, when they iourney.

⁶ And when ye trompe the seconde tyme, then the hostes that lye on the south syde shal take their iourney: for they shal trompe when they take their iourneyes. ⁷ And in getheryng the congregacion together, ye shall blowe and not trompe.

¹⁴ euen the standerte of the hoste of Iuda remoued first with their armyes whose captayne was Nahason the sonne of Aminadab.

¹ And therfore crye now, as loude as thou canst. Leaue not of, lyft vp thy voyce like a trompet, and shewe my people their offences, and the house of Iacob their synnes.

¹ Blowe oute the trompet in Sion, & crye vpon my holy hyl, that al suche as dwell in the land, may tremble at it, for the daye of the Lorde commeth, and is harde at hande:

¹⁰ And on the southsyde, the standarte of the host of Ruben shall lye wyth theyr companyes & the captayne ouer the sonnes of Ruben Elizur the Sonne of Sedeur, ¹¹ and hys host and the numbre of them .xlvi. thousand & .v. hundred. ¹² And fast by hym shal the trybe of Symeon pytche, and the captayne ouer the sonnes of Symeon. Salumiel the sonne of Zury Sadai, ¹³ and hys host and the numbre of them .lix. thousand and .iij. hundred. ¹⁴ And the trybe of Gad also: And the captaine ouer the sonnes of Gad, Eliasaph the sonne of Deguell ¹⁵ hys hoste and the numbre of them .xlv. thousande sixe hundred and fifty. ¹⁶ Soo that all the numbre that pertayne vnto the hoste of Ruben, are an hundred thousande .li. thousande .iiij. hundred and fyfte wt theyr companyes, and they shall be the seconde in the iourney.

And the seuenth daye ye shall compasse the cytye seuen tymes, & the Priestes shall blowe wyth theyr trompettes. ⁵ And when there is a longe blaste blowen wyth the rammes horne, assone as ye heare the sounde of the horne, let all the people showte a myghtye showte. And then shal the walles of the cyty falle doune, and the people shall ascende vp, euerye man strayght before hym. ⁶ And Iosua the sonne of Nun, called vnto the priestes, and sayde vnto them: take vp the arcke of the appoyntement, and let seuen Priestes beare seuen trompettes of rammes hornes before the arcke of the Lorde. ⁷ And he sayd vnto the people, go and compasse the citie: and let the men of armes go before the arcke of the Lorde. ⁸ And when Iosua had spoken vnto the people, the seuen Priestes that bare the seuen trompettes of rammes hornes before the arcke of the Lorde, wente forthe and blew wyth the hornes, and the arcke of the Testament of the Lorde folowed after them. ⁹ And the men of armes wente before the priestes that blewe wyth the hornes, and the common people came after the arcke: & as they went, they blew with the hornes. ¹⁰ And Iosua commaunded the people, sayinge: showt not nor let your voyce be hearde, or any worde proceade out of your mouthes, vntyll the daye I byd you showt: & then showte. ¹¹ And so the arcke of the Lorde compased the cytye and went aboute it once: and then they returned into the hoste and lodged there. ¹² And Iosua rose erly in the mornynge, and the preastes toke vp the arcke of the Lorde, ¹³ & seuen priestes bare seuen trompettes of rammes hornes before the arcke of the Lord, & as they went blew with the hornes. And the men of armes went before them, & the common people came after the arcke of the Lorde, & as they wente, they blewe wyth the hornes. ¹⁴ And the seconde day they compased the citie once, & returned agayne into the hoste, & so they dyd .vi. dayes longe. ¹⁵ And the seuenth daye they rose erlye: euen with the dawnynge of the day, and compased the cytye after the same maner seuen tymes: onlye that they compased the cyty seuen times. ¹⁶ And at the seuenthe tyme, the priestes blew wyth the hornes, & Iosua sayde vnto the people, showte for the Lorde hath geuen you the cytye.

²⁴ And Sacaniah, Iehosaphat, Nathanael, Amasai, Zachariah, Banaiah and Eliezer priestes were blowers wyth trompettes before the Arcke of God. And Obed, Edom and Iahiah were kepers of the dore of the Arcke.

⁶ and Banaiah and Iahaziel pryestes wyth trompettes contynuallye before the Arcke of the couenaunt of God.

¹² Moreouer se, God is with vs in the forewarde, and his priestes, and the rorynge trompettes to crye alarum agaynst you. Ye chyldren of Israell fight not with the Lorde God of youre fathers: for it wyll not prospere wyth you. ¹³ But for all that Ieroboam sent men pryuelye aboute to come behynd vpon them: and so they were before Iuda, & the layers in wayte were behynd them. ¹⁴ And when Iuda turned and saw the battel behynde and before, they cryed vnto the Lorde, & the priestes blew the trompettes ¹⁵ & the men of Iuda gaue a shoute. And as the men of Iuda shouted, God smote Ieroboam & all Israel before Abiah and Iuda.

¹ And God remembred Noe & al the beastes & al the catel that were with him in the arck. And God made a wynde to blowe vpon the erth, & the waters ceased:

¹⁸ And when the Lorde raysed them vp Iudges, he was wyth the Iudge, and delyuered them out of the handes of theyr enemyes al the dayes of the Iudge: for the Lorde had compassyon ouer theyr sorowynges whiche they had by the reason of them that oppressed them and vexed them:

²⁷ And when he was come he blew a trompette in mount Ephraim. And the chyldren of Israell went doune wyth him of the hille and he before them.

² And the Lorde solde them into the handes of Iakin Kynge of Canaan, that raygned in Hazor, whose captaynes of warre was Sisara, which dwelt in Haroseth of the gentyles. ³ And the chyldren of Israel cryed vnto the Lorde: for he had nyne hundred charettes of yron, he oppressed the chyldren of Israel wyth power .xx. yeares.

⁹ and I rydde you out of the hand of the Egypcians & out of the handes of all that oppressed you, and cast them out before you, & gaue you theyr landes.

³⁴ the spryte of the Lorde entered into to Gedeon. And he blew a trompette, & called Abiezer to folowe hym,

¹⁶ And he deuyded the thre hundred men into thre companyes, & gaue euerye man a trompet in hys hand, wyth an emptye pitcher & lampes therin, ¹⁷ and sayd vnto them: loke on me & do lykewyse: & beholde, when I come to the syde of the hoste, euen as I do, so do you. ¹⁸ And when I blow wyth a trompet and all that are wyth me, blowe ye with trompettes also on euerye syde the hoste and saye: here be the Lorde and Gedeon. ¹⁹ And so Gedeon & the thre hundred men that were wyth hym, came vnto the syde of the host in the begynnynge of the myddell watche, & reysed vp the watche men. And they blewe wt their trompettes & brake the pytchers that were in theyr handes. ²⁰ And all thre companyes blew wt trompettes & brake the pitchers, & held the lampes in theyr left handes, & the trompettes in their right, to blowe wyth all. And they cryed the swerd of the Lord & of Gedeon. ²¹ And they stode stille, euery man in hys place rounde aboute the host. And al the host ranne & cryed & fleed.

⁸ which pyld & oppressed the chyldren of Israel in those dayes .xviij. yeare, all that were on the other syde Iordan in the lande of the Amorytes in Galaad.

¹² the Sidonites, the Ameleckytes, & the Maonites, oppresse you? And ye cryed to me, & I delyuered you out of theyr handes.

¹⁸ & sayde vnto the chyldren of Israel: thus saith the Lord God of Israel, I brought you out of Egypt, & deliuered you out of the hand of the Egipcians, & out of the handes of al kingedomes that oppressed you.

¹⁴ And when Iuda turned and saw the battel behynde and before, they cryed vnto the Lorde, & the priestes blew the trompettes

⁴ Remember vs, O Lorde, accordynge to the fauour that thou bearest vnto thy people O vyset vs wyth thy sauynge health.

⁴² Their enemyes oppressed them, and had them in subieccion.

²³ Which remembreth vs, when we are in trouble, for hys mercy endureth for euer.

³ Yea, al ye that syt in the compasse of the worlde, and dwell vpon the earthe, when the token shalbe geuen vpon the mountaynes, then loke vp: & when the horne bloweth, then herken to,

¹⁹ Ah my belye, ah my belye, (shalt thou crye) how is my hert so sore? my herte painteth within me, I can not be styl, for I haue hearde the cryeng of the trompettes and peales of warre.

²¹ Howe longe shall I se the tokens of warre, and heare the noyse of the trompettes.

¹ Come out of Ierusalem, ye strong children of Ben Iamin: blowe vp the trompettes ye Tecuytes, set vp a token vnto Bethcarem, for a plage and a greate myserye pepeth oute from the Northe.

¹⁷ and I wil set watchemen ouer you, & therfore take hede vnto the voyce of the trompet. But they saye: we wyll not take hede.

¹⁴ The trompettes shall ye blowe and make you all ready, but no man shall goo to the battel, for I am wroth with all the whole multitude.

³ the same man (whan he seyth the sweard come vpon the lande) shal blowe the trompet, and warne the people. ⁴ If a man now heare the noyse of the trompet, and wil not be warned, and the swearde come and take him awaye: his bloude shall be vpon hys owne head: ⁵ for he hearde the sound of the trompet, and wolde not take hede: therfore hys bloude be vpon hym. But yf he wyll receyue warninge, he shall saue hys lyfe. ⁶ Agayne, yf the watch man se the swearde come and shewe it not wyth the trompet, so that the people is not warned: yf the sweard come then and take any man from amonge them, the same shall be taken awaye in hys owne sinne but hys bloude wyll I requyre of the watchemans hande.

⁸ Blowe wt the shawmes at Gabea, & with the trompet in Ramah, crye out at Bethaueu vpon the yonsyde of BenIamin.

⁶ Crye they oute alarum wyth the trompet in the cytye, and the people not afrayed? Commeth there anye plage in a cytye withoute it be the Lordes doynge?

¹⁶ a daye of the noyse of trompettes & shawmes, agaynst the stronge cities & hye towres.

⁷⁰ Euen as he promised by the mouthe of his holye prophetes which were sence the worlde began. ⁷¹ That we shoulde be saued from oure enemyes, & from the power of all that hath vs. ⁷² To fulfyll the mercy promysed to oure fathers, and to remember his holye couenaunt. ⁷³ And to performe the othe which he sware to oure father Abraham, ⁷⁴ for to geue vs. That we delyuered out of the power of oure enemyes, might serue him without feare

⁸ And also yf the trompe geue an vncertaine voice, who shall prepare him selfe to fyght?

²⁹ And Aaron shal beare the names of the chyldren of Israel in the brestlappe of iudgement vpon hys hert, when he goeth into the holy place for a remembraunce before the Lorde alwaye.

¹⁶ And thou shalt take the reconcilynge mony of the children of Israell and shalt put it vnto the vse of the tabernacle of witnesse, and it shall be a memorial of the chyldren of Israell before the Lord, to make an attonement for their soules.

²⁴ speake vnto the chyldren of Israel and saye. The fyrst daye of the seuenth moneth shalbe a reast of rembraunce vnto you, to blowe hornes in an holy feast it shalbe,

⁹ And then thou shalt make an horne blowe: euen in the tenth daye of the seuenth moneth, which is the day of atonemente. ¹⁰ And then shal ye make the horne blowe, euen thoroweoute all youre Lande. And ye shall halowe the fyftyeth yere, & proclayme libertye thorowoute the Lande vnto all the inhabyters therof. It shall be a yere of iubelie to you & ye shal returne: euerye man vnto hys possession and euerye man vnto hys kynred agayne.

⁹ And when ye shall go to warre in youre lande agaynst your enemyes that wexe you, ye shall trompe with the trompettes and ye shalbe remembred before the Lord your God and saued from youre enemyes.

¹ And the fyrst day of the .vij. moneth shalbe an holy feast vnto you and ye shall do no laboryous worke therin. It shalbe a day of trompet blowyng vnto you.

⁷ then say vnto them, how that the water of Iordan deuyded at the presence of the arcke of the appoyntmente of the Lord: euen while it went ouer Iordan, the water of Iordan deuyded. And these stones shalbe a memoryall vnto the chyldren of Israel for euer.

²⁸ And al Israel brought the Arcke of the Lordes couenaunt wyth shoutynge and blowynge of hornes, & with trompettes and symbales that sounded, and wyth psalteries and harpes.

⁴² And wyth the sayde Heman and Iduthun were trompettes & soundyng simbales, & instrumentes of the melody of God. And the sonnes of Iduthun were porters.

⁶ And the priestes wayted on theyr offices, and the Leuites with instrumentes of musycke of the Lorde which kinge Dauid made to confesse vnto the Lorde that hys mercye lasteth euer, when Dauid gaue prayse thorowe theyr handes. And the priestes blewe trompettes faste by them: and all Israell stode.

²⁶ And so the Leuites stode with the instrumentes of Dauid, & the preastes with trompettes.

²⁸ And all the congregacyon bowed themselues, and the syngers sange, and the trompettes blew, and continued vntyll the burntofferyng was fynesshed.

¹⁰ And when the buylders layd the foundacion of the temple of the Lorde, the pryestes stode in their aray, with trompettes. And the Leuites the children of Asaph with cymbales, to prayse the Lorde after the maner of Dauid kynge of Israel.

³⁵ and certayne of the priestes chyldren wyth trompettes, namely Zachary the sonne of Ionathan, the sonne of Semeiah, the sonne of Mathaniah, the sonne of Michaiah, the sonne of Zecur, the sonne of Asaph,

⁵ Prayse the Lordes, vpon the harpe, synge to the harpe wyth a psalme of thanckesgeuynge ⁶ With trompettes also and shawmes: O shewe youre selues ioyfull before the Lorde the kynge.

³ Prayse hym in the sounde of the trompet, prayse hym vpon the lute and harpe.

¹³ Then shall the greate trompette be blowen, so that those whiche haue bene destroyed in the Assyryans lande, and those that be scatred abroad in Egypte: shall come and worshyppe the Lord at Ierusalem, vpon the holy mount.

¹ Come to the waters all ye, that be thurstye, & ye that haue no money. Come, bye, that ye maye haue to eate. Come bye wine & mylcke, without any money or money worth. ² Wherfore do ye laye oute youre moneye, for the thing that fedeth not, and spende youre laboure aboute the thynge that satisfyed you not. But herken rather vnto me, & ye shall eate of the beste, & youre soule shall haue her pleasure in plentuousnes. ³ Encline youre eares, & come vnto me, take hede, & your soule shall lyue. For I wyll make an euerlastynge couenaunt wyth you, euen the sure mercyes of Dauid. ⁴ Beholde, I shall geue him for a wytnesse amonge the folke, for a Prynce and Captaine vnto the people.

²⁸ Come vnto me all ye that labour and are laden and I wyll ease you.

⁴ When he loked on hym he was afraid and said, what is it Lord? He sayed vnto hym: Thy prayers and all thy almeses are come vp into remembraunce before God.

²⁴ and thanked and brake, and sayde. Take ye, eate ye thys is my bodye whiche is broken for you. Thys do ye in the remembraunce of me. ²⁵ After the same maner he toke the cuppe, when supper was done, saying. Thys cuppe is the newe testamente in my bloude. Thys do as ofte as ye drynke it, in the remembraunce of me. ²⁶ For as often as ye shal eate thys breade, and drincke this cuppe, ye shall shewe the Lordes death tyll he come.

⁵² and that in a momente & in the twinkling of an eye, at the sound of the last trompe. For the trompe shall blowe, and the dead shal rise incorruptible and we shal be chaunged.

¹⁶ For the Lord hym selfe shall descende from heauen with a shoute, and the voice of the Archangell and trompe of God. And the deade in Christ shall arise fyrste:

¹⁸ Wherfore comforte youre selues one another with these wordes.

¹⁷ And the spiryte and the bride said: come. And let him that heareth, saye also come. And let hym that is a thyrste, come. And let whosoeuer wyll, take of the water of lyfe, fre.

² In the fyrst daye of the fyrst moneth shalt thou sett vp the habitacion of the tabernacle of wytnesse

¹⁷ Thus was the Tabernacle reared vp the fyrst daye in the fyrste moneth in the seconde yere.

¹ And the Lord spake to Moses in the wyldernes of Sinai in the Tabernacle of witnes, the fyrste daye of the seconde moneth and in the seconde yere after they were come oute of the Lande of Egypte sayinge:

¹ And the Lorde spake vnto Moses in the wildernesse of Sinai, in the fyrste moneth of the seconde yere after they: were come out of the lande of Egypt sayinge:

⁵ and they offered Passeouer the .xiiij. daye of the fyrst moneth at euen in the wyldernesse of Sinai: and dyd accordynge to all that the Lorde commaunded Moses.

¹¹ the .xiiij. day of the seconde moneth at euen, and eate it wyth swete bread and soure herbes,

¹⁷ And when the cloude was taken vp from of the tabernacle, then the chyldren of Israell iourneyed: and where the cloud abode there the chyldren of Israell pitched theyr tentes. ¹⁸ At the mouthe of the Lorde the chyldren of Israel iourneyed, and at the mouth of the Lorde they pitched. And as long as the cloude abode vpon the habitacion, they lay styl. ¹⁹ and when the cloude taryed styll vpon the habitacyon longe tyme, the chyldren of Israell wayted vpon the Lord and iourneyed not. ²⁰ If it chaunced that the cloude abode any space of tyme vpon the habitacion, then they kepte their tentes at the mouth of the Lord: and they iourneyed also at the commaundement of the Lord. ²¹ And yf it happened that the cloude was vpon the habitacion from euen vnto mornynge and was taken vp in the mornynge then they iourneyed. Whether it was by daye or by nyght that the cloude was taken vp, they iourneyed. ²² But when the cloude taryed two dayes or a moneth or a long season vpon the habitacion, as longe as it taryed theron, the chyldren of Israell kepte theyr tentes and iourneied not. And as soone as the cloude was taken vp, they iourneied. ²³ At the mouth of the Lord they reastyd, & at the commaundement of the Lord they iourneyed. And thus they kepte the watche of the Lord, at the commaundement of the Lorde by the hande of Moses.

²¹ And he dwelt in the wyldernesse of Pharan. And his mother got him a wyfe out of the land of Egypte.

²⁰ And they toke their iourney from Sucoth: & pitched their tentes in Etham in the edge of the wyldernesse.

¹ The thyrd moneth after the children of Israel were gone out of Egipt: the same daye they came into the wildernesse of Sinai. ² For they were departed from Raphidim, & were come to the desert of Sinai, and had pitched their tentes in the wildernesse. And there Israell pitched before the mounte.

³⁶ When the cloude was taken vp from of the habitation the children of Israel toke their iourneys as oft as they had iourneyed. ³⁷ And if the cloude departed not, they iourneyed not tyll it departed:

¹⁶ And afterward they remoued from Hazeroth, and pitched in the wyldernesse of Pharan.

³ And Moses at the commaundement of the Lorde sent forth out of the wyldernesse of Pharan: soche men as were all heades among the chyldren of Israell, whose names are these.

²⁶ And they went and came to Moses and Aaron & vnto all the multitude of the chyldren of Israell, vnto the wyldernesse of Pharan: euen vnto Cades, and broughte them worde and also vnto all the congregation, and shewed them the frute of the lande.

¹⁵ And they departed from Raphedim, and pitched in the wyldernesse of Sinai. ¹⁶ And they remoued from the desert of Sinay, and lodged at the graues of lust.

¹ These be the wordes whyche Moses spake vnto all Israel, on the other syde Iordan in the wyldernesse and in the feeldes by the red sea, betwene Pharan and Tophel, Laban, Hazeroth and Disahah

¹⁹ And then we departed from Horeb and walked thorow all that greate & terrible wyldernesse as ye haue sene alonge by the waye that leadeth vnto the hylles of the Amorites, as the Lord our God commaunded vs, and came to Cades barne.

² sayinge: The Lorde came frome Sinai, & shewed hys beames from Seir vnto them, & appered gloriously from mount Pharan, and he came wyth thousandes of saintes & in his right hand a lawe of fyre for them.

¹ And then Samuel dyed, and all Israel gathered together and lamented hym and buryed him in his owne house at Ramath. And Dauid arose and gat hym to the wildernesse of Pharan.

³ God commeth from Theman, and the holye one from the mounte of Pharan Selah. Hys glory couereth the heauens, and the earthe is full of hys prayse.

²³ At the mouth of the Lord they reastyd, & at the commaundement of the Lord they iourneyed. And thus they kepte the watche of the Lord, at the commaundement of the Lorde by the hande of Moses.

⁶ the Lord oure God spake vnto vs in Horeb saying: Ye haue dwelt long ynough in this mount:

⁸ Iuda, thy brethren shal prayse the, & thyne hand shalbe in the necke of thyue enemyes, & thy fathers chyldren shall stoupe vnto the.

⁷ of the trybe of Iuda Nahesson the sonne of Aminadab:

¹² He that offered his offering the fyrst day, was Nahesson the sonne of Aminadab of the trybe of Iuda.

¹⁹ The children of Iuda: Er & Onan, whiche dyed in the lande of Canaan. ²⁰ But the chyldren of Iuda in theyr kynred were: Sela of whom cometh the kynred of the Selamites: & of Phares cometh the kynred of the Pharesites: and of Zareh cometh the kynred of the Zarehites. ²¹ And the children of Phares were Hesron, of whom cometh the kynred of the Hesronites: and of Hamul commeth the kynred of the Hamulites. ²² These are the kinredes of Iuda, in numbre .lxxvi. thousand & fyue hundred. ²³ And the children of Isachar in their kinreds were: Thola, of whom cometh the kinred of the Tholaites: & Phuna, of whom cometh the kinred of the Phunaites: ²⁴ & of Iasub cometh the kynred of the Iasubites: and of Simron cometh the kynred of the Simronites. ²⁵ These are the kynredes of Isachar in numbre .lxiiij. thousand & .iij. hundred, ²⁶ The children of Zabulon in their kinredes were: Sered, of whom cometh the kynred of the Seredites: and Elon, of whom cometh the kynred of the Elonites: and of Iaheliel cometh the kynred of the Iahelelites, ²⁷ These are the kynredes of Zabulon: in numbre, .lx. thousand & fiue hundred.

⁸ of Isachar, Nathanael the sonne of Zuar:

¹⁸ The seconde day, dyd Nathanael offer, the sonne of Zuar, captayne ouer Izachar.

⁹ of Zabulon, Eliab the sonne of Helon.

²⁴ The thyrde daye, Eliab the sonne of Helon the chefest among the chyldren of Zabulon, brought hys offerynge.

⁵¹ And when the tabernacle goth forth the Leuites shall take it downe: and when the tabernacle is pitched they shal set it vp: for if any straunger come nere, he shal dye.

²⁵ And the office of the children of Gerson in the tabernacle of wytnes was to kepe the habitation & the tent with the couerynge therof and the hanginge of the dore of the tabernacle of wytnesse, ²⁶ and the hangynges of the court, and the curtayne of the dore of the courte, whych court went round about the dwelling, and the aulter, & the cordes that pertained vnto al the seruyce therof.

³⁶ And the offyce of the sonnes of merari was to kepe the bordes of the dwellyng & the barres, pyllers wt the sockets therof, and all the instrumentes therof & al that serued therto: ³⁷ and the pillers of the court rounde aboute & their sockettes with their pynnes & cordes.

²¹ And the Lord spake vnto Moses saying: ²² Take the summe of the chyldren of Gerson in the houses of their fathers and in theyr kynredes: ²³ from .xxx. yere and aboue, vntyll .l. all that are able to goo forth in warre, for to do seruyce in the tabernacle of wytnesse. ²⁴ And thys is the seruyce of the kynred of the Gersonites, to serue and to beare. ²⁵ They shal beare the curtaynes of the dwellyng & the rouffe of the tabernacle of wytnesse and hys couerynge and the couerynge of taxus skynnes that is an hye aboue vpon it, and the hangynge of the dore of the tabernacle of wytnesse: ²⁶ and the hangyng of the court and the hangynge of the gate of the court that is round about the dwellyng and the altare, & the cordes of them, and al the instrumentes that serue vnto them and al that is made for them. ²⁷ And at the mouth of Aaron and his sonnes, shall all the seruyce of the chyldren of the Gersonites be done, in al their charges, and in all theyr seruyce, & ye shall appoynte them vnto all theyr charges, that they shal wayte vpon. ²⁸ And thys is the seruyce of the kynred of the chyldren of the Gersonites in the tabernacle of wytnesse, and their wayte shalbe in the hand of Ithamar the sonne of Aaron the preast. ²⁹ And thou shalt nombre the sonnes of Merari in their kynredes and in the houses of their fathers, ³⁰ from .xxx. yeres and aboue vnto .l. All that is able to go forth in warre, to do the seruyce of the tabernacle of wytnesse. ³¹ And thys is the charge that they must wayte vppon in all that they must serue in the tabernacle of wytnesse. The bordes of the dwellynge, and the barres, pyllers, and sokettes therof, ³² and the pyllers of the court round about, and their sokettes, pynnes and cordes, wyth al that pertayneth and serueth vnto them. And by name ye shal reaken the thynges that they must wayte vpon to beare. ³³ This is the seruyce of the kynredes of the sonnes of Merari in al theyr seruyce in the tabernacle of witnesse by the hand of Ithamar the sonne of Aaron the preast.

⁶ And Moses toke the charetes and the oxen, gaue them vnto the Leuytes ⁷ .ij. charettes and .iiij. oxen he gaue vnto the sonnes of Gerson acordynge vnto theyr office. ⁸ And .iiij. charetes and eyght oxen he gaue vnto the sonne of Merari accordynge vnto theyr offices, vnder the handes of Ithamar the sonne of Aaron the preaste.

¹¹ But Christe beynge an hye prieste of good thynges to come, came by a greater & a more perfecte tabernacle, not made wyth handes: that is to saye, not of thys maner buyldynge,

²⁸ Wherfore yf we receyue a kingdom which is not moued, we haue grace, wherby we may serue God, and please hym wyth reuerence & Godly feare.

¹⁴ for as muche as I am sure how that the tyme is at hande, that I must put of my tabernacle, euen as our Lord Iesus Christ hath shewed me.

⁵ And these are the names of the men that shall stand with you: of Ruben, Elizur the sonne of Sedeur:

³⁵ and for peaceofferynges .ij. oxen .v. rammes .v. he gootes and .v. lambes. of one yere olde. And thys was the offerynge of Elizur the sonne of Sedeur.

⁵ Ruben the eldest sonne of Israel. The children of Ruben were, Hanoch, of whom cometh the kynred of the Hanochites: & of Palu, cometh the kynred of the Paluites: ⁶ And of Hesron commeth the kinred of the Hesronites: and of Carmi cometh the kinred of the Carmites. ⁷ These are the kinreds of the Rubenites whiche were in numbre .xliij. thousande .vi. hundred, & .xxx. ⁸ And the sonnes of Palu were Eliab. ⁹ And the sonnes of Eliab were: Nemuel, Dathan, & Abiram. Thys is that Dathan & Abiram councelers in the congregation, whiche stroue against Moses and Aaron in the companye of Corah, when they stroue against the Lord. ¹⁰ And the earth opened hir mouth & swalowed them and Corah also, when the multitude dyed, what tyme the fyre consumed .ij. hundred & fyfty men, & they became a sygne: ¹¹ Notwithstandyng the children of Corah dyed not. ¹² And the children of Simeon in theyr kynreds were: Nemuel, of whom cometh the kinred of the Nemuelites: Iamin, of whom cometh the kinred of the Iaminites: Iachin, of whom cometh the kinred of the Iachinites: ¹³ Zareh, of whom cometh the kinred of the Zarehites: Saule, of whom cometh the kinred of the Saulites. ¹⁴ These are the kinredes of the Simeonites: in numbre .xxij. thousand and two hundred. ¹⁵ And the chyldren of Gad in theyr kynredes were: Zephon, of whom cometh the kinred of the Zephonytes: & of Haggi, cometh the kynred of the Haggites: and of Suni, cometh the kinred of the Sunites: ¹⁶ and of Aseni, cometh the kinred of the Asenites: and of Eri cometh the kynred of the Erites: ¹⁷ and of Arod cometh the kinred of the Arodites: & of Ariel cometh the kinred of the Arielites. ¹⁸ These are the kinreds of the children of Gad in numbre .xl. thousand & .v. hundred.

³⁶ The fyfth day, Selumiel the sonne of Zuri Sadai, chefe Lord among the chyldren of Symeon, offred,

¹⁴ of Gad, Elisaph the sonne of Deguel:

¹⁴ And the trybe of Gad also: And the captaine ouer the sonnes of Gad, Eliasaph the sonne of Deguell

⁴² The sixte day, Eliasaph the sonne of Deguel the chefe Lord amonge the chyldren of Gad, offered:

¹⁷ And the tabernacle of wytnesse wyth the host of the Leuites, shall goo in the myddes of the hostes: as they lye in theyr tentes, euen so shall they procede in the iourney, euerye man in hys quarter about the standartes.

²⁷ And of Cahath came the kynred of the Amramites and the kinred of the Iezeharites & of the Hebronites and of the Ozielites: And these are the kinreds of the Cahathites. ²⁸ And the numbre of of all the males from a moneth olde and aboue, was .viij. thousand and sixe hundred which waited on the holy place. ²⁹ And the kinred of the children of Cahath, pitched on the southside of the dwelling. ³⁰ And the captayne in the moste auncient house of the kynredes of the Cahathites, was Elisaphan the sonne of Oziel, ³¹ & their office was to kepe the arcke, the table, the candilsticke, & the altare & the holye vessels to minister wt & the vayle wyth all that serued thereto. ³² And Eleazar the sonne of Aaron the prieste, was captaine ouer all the captaynes of the Leuites, & had the ouer syghte of them that waited vpon the holy thynges.

⁴ Thys shalbe the offyce of the chyldren of Kahath in the tabernacle of wytnesse whiche is moost holy. ⁵ And when the hoste remoueth, Aaron and his sonnes shal come & take doune the vayle, and couer the arcke of wytnesse there wyth, ⁶ & shall put theron a coueryng of taxus skynnes, & shal spreide a cloth that is altogether of iacyncte aboue all, and put the staues therof in. ⁷ And vpon the shewe table, they shal spreide abrode a cloth of iacincte, and put theron the dyshes, spones, flat peces and pottes to poure wyth, & the dayly bread shalbe theron: ⁸ & they shal spreade vpon them a couerynge of purple, and couer the same wyth a coueryng of taxus skynnes, & put the staues therof in. ⁹ And they shal take a cloth of iacincte & couer the candelstyck of lyght & her lampes & her snuffers, and fyre pannes, and al her oyle vessels which they occupye aboute it, ¹⁰ & shal put vpon her & vpon all her instrumentes, a coueryng of taxus skynnes, and put it vpon staues. ¹¹ And vpon the golden alter they shall sprede a cloth of Iacyncte, and put on her staues. ¹² And they shall take all the thynges whych they occupye to minystre wt in the holy place, & put a cloth of Iacyncte vpon them and couer them wyth a couerynge of taxus skynnes and put them on staues. ¹³ And they shall take awaye the asshes out of the alter, and spreyde a scarlet clothe theron: ¹⁴ and put aboute it, the fyre pannes, the flesh hokes, the shouels, the basens & all that belongeth vnto the alter, and they shal sprede vpon it a couerynge of taxus skynnes, & put on the staues of it. ¹⁵ And when Aaron and his sonnes haue made an ende of coueryng the sanctuary & al the thinges of the sanctuarye, agaynst that the hoste remoue, then the sonnes of Cahath shall come in for to beare, & so let them not touche the sanctuary least they dye. And thys is the charge of the sonnes of Cahath in the tabernacle of wytnesse. ¹⁶ And Eleazar the sonne of Aaron the preast, shall haue the charge to prepare oyle for the lyghtes & swete incens, & the dayly meatoffrynge & the anoyntynge oyle, and the ouersyghte of all the dwellyng and of all that therin is, both ouer the sanctuary and of al that pertayneth therto.

²⁰ But let them not go in to se when they couer the sanctuarye, lest they dye.

⁹ But vnto the sonnes of Cahath he gaue none, for the offyce that perteyned to them was holy, & therfore they must beare vpon shoulders.

¹⁷ And the habitacion was taken doune: and the sonnes of Gerson and Merari went forth bearinge the habitacion.

² And then Dauid sayd, the Arcke of God ought not to be caryed but of the Leuites. For them hath the Lord chosen to beare the Arcke of the Lorde and to minystre to hym for euer.

¹² & sayde vnto them: ye are the princypall heades of the Leuites, sanctefye therfore youre selues and youre brethren, and brynge the Arcke of the Lord God of Israel vnto the place that I haue prepared for it. ¹³ For because ye were not ther at the fyrst tyme, the Lorde oure God made a rent amonge vs, for that we sought hym not as the fashion ought to be. ¹⁴ And the preastes and the Leuites sanctefied them selues, to fett the Arcke of the Lorde God of Israel. ¹⁵ And the chyldren of the Leuites bare the Arke of God vpon their shoulders with staues theron as Moses commaunded accordynge to the worde of the Lorde.

¹⁹ And hys father wold not: but sayd: I knowe it well my sonne, I knowe it well. He shalbe also a people & shalbe great. But of a truth hys yonger brother shalbe greatter than he, and hys seed shall be full of people.

¹⁰ Amonge the chyldren of Ioseph: of Ephraim, Elisama the sonne of Amihud: of Manasse, Gamaliel the sonne of Pedazur:

¹⁸ On the weste syde the standarte and the host of Ephraim shal lye with their companyes. And the captayne ouer the sonnes of Ephraim Elisama the Sonne of Amihud: ¹⁹ & hys hoste and the numbre of theym .xl. thousand and .v. hundred. ²⁰ And faste by hym, the trybe of Manasse, and the captayne ouer the Sonnes of Manasse, Gamaleel the sonne of PedaZur ²¹ and hys hoste, and the numbre of theym .xxxij. thousand and two hundred. ²² And the tribe of BenIamin also: and the captayne ouer the sonnes of BenIamin, Abidan the Sonne of Gedeoni, ²³ and hys hoste and the numbre of them .xxxv. thousande & .iiij. hundred. ²⁴ Al the numbre that pertayned to the host of Ephraim, were an hundred thousand .viij. thousand and an hundred in their hostes: & they shalbe the thyrd in the iourney.

⁴⁸ The seuenth daye, Elisama the sonne of Amiud, the chefe Lord of the children of Ephraim, offered.

And the names of the daughters of Zelaphead were Mahela, Noa, Hagla, Milcha and Thirza. ³⁴ These are the kinredes of Manasse, in numbre .lij. thousand & seuen hundred. ³⁵ These are the children of Ephraim in their kynredes: Suthelah, of whom commeth the kynred of the Suthelahites: and Becher, of whom cometh the kinred of the Becherites: & of Thehen cometh the kynred of the Thehenites. ³⁶ And these are the children of Suthelah: Eran, of whom commeth the kinred of the Eranites. ³⁷ These are the kynredes of the chyldren of Ephraim in numbre .xxxij. thousand and .v. hundred. And these are the chyldren of Ioseph in theyr kinredes. ³⁸ These are the chyldren of BenIamin in their kynredes: Bela, of whome cometh the kinred of the Belaites: & of Asbel cometh the kynred of the Asbelites: and of Ahiram, the kinred of the Ahiramites: ³⁹ and of Supham the kynred of the Suphamites: & of Hupham the kynred of the Huphamites. ⁴⁰ And the children of Bela were Ard & Naaman fro whence come the kinreds of the Ardites & of the Naamites. ⁴¹ These ar the children of BenIamin in their kinredes, and in numbre .xlv. thousande and sixe hundred.

¹ To the chaunter, vpon Sosanim, a Psalme of Asaph. Heare O thou shepeherde of Israel, thou that leadest Iacob lyke a flocke of shepe: shew thy self, thou that sittest vppon the Cherubyns. ² Before Ephraim, Beniamin, and Manasses: stirre vp thy power, & come help vs.

⁵⁴ The .viij. daye, offered Gamaliel the sonne of Pedazur, the chefe Lord of the chyldren of Manasse.

¹¹ of BenIamin, Abidan the sonne of Gedeoni:

⁶⁰ The .ix. daye, Abidan the sonne of Gedeoni the chefe lord among the children of Beniamin offered.

¹⁶ Dan shall iudge his people, as one of the trybes of Israel. ¹⁷ Dan shalbe a serpent in the way, and an edder in the path, & byte the horsse heles, so that hys ryder shal fal bacward.

¹² of Dan, Ahiezer the sonne of Ammi Sadai:

²⁵ And the standart & the hoste of Dan shall lye on the north syde with theyr companies: and the captayne ouer the chyldren of Dan, Ahiezer the sonne of Ammi Sadai: ²⁶ and hys host & the numbre of them .lxij. thousande and .vij. hundred. ²⁷ And fast by hym shall the tribe of Aser pytch, & the captaine ouer the sonnes of Aser, Pagiel the sonne of Ocran: ²⁸ and his host, and the numbre of them .xli. thousand & .v. hundred. ²⁹ And the tribe of Nepthaly also & the captayne ouer the chyldren of Nephtali: Ahira the sonne of Enan: ³⁰ and hys hoste and the numbre of them .liij. thousande and .iiij. hundred. ³¹ So that the hole numbre of all that pertayned vnto the hoste of Dan, was an hundred thousande .lvij. thousande & .vi. hundred. And they shal be the last in that iourney with theyr standertes.

⁶⁶ The .x. daye, Ahiezer the sonne of Ammi, Sadai, chefe Lorde among that chyldren of Dan offered.

⁴² These are the children of Dan in their kinredes: of Suham, of whom cometh the kinred of the Suhamites. ¹⁷ Remembre what Amalech dyd vnto the by the waye after thou camest out of Egypte, ¹⁸ he mett the by the waye and smote the hyndmost of you, all that were ouer laboured and dragged by hynde, when thou wast faynted & werye, & he feared not God.

¹² But ye shall not go oute with sedicion, nor make hast as they that fle awaye: for the Lord shall go before you, and the God of Israel shal kepe the watche.

³⁴ And the chyldren of Israel dyd accordyng to all that the Lord commaunded Moses, and so they pitched with their standertes, & so they iourneyd euery man in hys kynred, and in the houshold of hys father.

³⁵ And when the arcke went forth, Moses sayde: Ryse vp Lorde and let thyne enemies be scatered, and let them that hate the flee before the. ³⁶ And when the arcke rested, he sayde retourne Lorde vnto the many thousandes of Israell.

⁴ and the manne whose eye is open hath sayed: he hath sayd whych heareth the words of God & seeth the visions of the almyghty, whiche falleth downe: & hys eyes are opened. ⁵ Howe goodlye are the tentes of Iacob & thyne habitation Israel,

¹⁰ What is she this, that pepeth out as the mornynge? fayre as the moone, excellent as the sunne, glorious as an army of men with their baners.

³³ For God is not causer of strife, but of peace, as he is in all other congregations of the sainctes.

⁴⁰ And let al thynges be done honestlye and iu ordre.

⁵ For though I be absent in fleshe: yet am I present with you in the spirite ioyenge and beholdinge the order that ye kepe, and your stedfast faith in Christ.

⁷ Then the Lorde appeared vnto Abram & sayd: vnto thy seed wyll I gyue this lande. And he builded an aulter ther vnto the Lord whyche appeared vnto hym.

¹⁵ for all the Lande whyche thou seest, wyl I gyue vnto the, & to thy sede for euer.

¹⁸ And that same daye the Lorde made a couenaunte with Abram sayinge: vnto thy seed wyl I geue this land, from the riuer of Egypt, euen vnto the greate ryuer Euphrates,

¹² Thou saydest that thou wouldest surely do me good, and wouldest make my sede as the sande of the sea, whyche canne not be numbred for multitude.

¹⁸ And when they came to Raguel their father he saied: howe happeneth it that ye are come so sone to daye?

And ye shall know that I am the Lorde your God, whyche bryng you out from vnder the burdens of the Egyptians. ⁸ And I wyll brynge you vnto the land ouer the which I did lift vp my hande to giue it vnto Abraham, Isaac, and Iacob, and wyll gyue it vnto you for a possession: euen I the Lorde.

¹ Iethro the prieste of Madian, Moses father in lawe hearde of al that god had done to Moses & to Israel hys people, how that the Lord had brought Israel out of Egipt.

²⁷ And than Moses let hys father in lawe departe, and he went into his owne lande.

¹⁹ The Lorde is not a man, that he can lye, neither the sonne of man that he can repente: should he saye and not do, or shoulde he speake and not make it good?

¹⁶ And the chyldren of the Kenyte Moses father in lawe went vp out of the cytye of paulme trees, with the chyldren of Iuda into the wyldernesse of Iuda that lyeth in the Southe of Arad, and dwelte among the people.

⁶ But Saul sayde vnto the Kenites go & departe, & get ye doune from amonge the Amaleckytes, leste I destroy you wyth them for ye shewed mercye with Israell when they came out of Egypt. And the kenites departed from amonge the Amaleckites.

⁸ O taste and se how frendly the Lorde is, blessed is the man that trusteth in hym.

³ speakynge thus one to another: vp let vs go to the hyll of the Lorde, & to the house of the God of Iacob: that he maye shewe vs hys waye, and that we maye walcke in hys pathes. For the lawe shall come out of Syon and the worde of God from Ierusalem,

⁵ They shall aske the waye to Sion, thyther shall they turne theyr faces, & come and hange vpon the, in a couenaunte that neuer shall be broken.

²¹ and they that dwell in one citie, shal go to another sayeng: Vp, let vs go, and pray before the Lord, let vs seke the Lorde of Hostes, I will go with you: ²² yea much people and mightie heathen shall come and seke the Lorde of Hostes at Ierusalem, & to pray before the Lorde. ²³ Thus sayeth the Lorde of Hostes: In that tyme shal ten men (out of al maner of languages of the Gentiles) take one Iew by the hemme of his garment, and saye: we wyl go with you, for we haue hearde, that God is amonge you.

⁵ and he gaue him none inheritaunce in it, no not the bredeth of a fote: but promised that he would geue it to hym to possesse, and to his seed after him, when as yet he had no chylde.

² vpon the hope, of eternall lyfe, whiche lyfe God that can not lye, hath promysed before the worlde beganne:

¹⁸ that by two immutable thynges (in which it was vnpossyble that GOD shaulde lye) we myghte haue perfecte consolacyon, whiche haue fled, for to holde faste the hope that is set before vs,

¹ Then the Lorde sayed vnto Abram. Get the out of thy contrye and frome thy kyndred, and oute of thy fathers house, into a Lande whyche I wyll shewe the.

³⁰ And now thoughe thou wentest away, bicause thou longest after thi fathers house, yet wherfore hast thou stolen my Goddes.

¹⁵ then she sayd: se, thy syster in lawe is gone backe againe vnto her people & vnto her God: returne thou after her. ¹⁶ But Ruth saide: entreate me not to leaue the, and to returne from after the, for whether thou goest, I will go, & where thou dwelleste, there I wil dwelle: thy people are my people, and thy God is my God. ¹⁷ Where thou dyest, I wil dye, and there wilbe buried. The Lorde do so and so to me, excepte that death onlye departe the and me a sondre.

¹⁰ Herken (O daughter) considre, & enclyne thyne eare: forget thyne owne people, & thy fathers house.

²⁹ He answered and sayde, I wyll not: but after warde repented and wente.

²⁶ If a man come to me, and hate not hys father and mother, and wyfe, and chyldren and brethren & systers, moreouer and hys owne lyfe, he can not be my disciple.

¹⁶ Wherfore hence forthe knowe we no man after the fleshe. In so muche though we haue knowen Christe after the fleshe, nowe hence forth knowe we hym so no more.

⁸ By fayth Abraham, when he was called obeyed, to go out into a place, which he shoulde afterward receyue to inherytaunce, and he wente oute not knowynge whyther he should go.

¹³ And they all dyed in fayth, and receyued not the promyses: but sawe them a farre of, & beleued them; and saluted them: and confessed that they were straungers and pylgrems on the earthe.

¹⁵ I was an eye vnto the blinde, and a fote to the lame,

⁸ I wyl enforme the, and shew the the waie wherin thou shalt go I wyll fasten myne eyes vpon the.

¹⁴ For the body is not one member, but manye. ¹⁵ Yf the fote saye: I am not the hand, therfore I am not of the bodye: is he therfore not of the bodye? ¹⁶ And yf the eare saye, I am not the eye: therfore I am not of the bodye: is he therfore not of the bodie? ¹⁷ If al the bodye were an eye, where were then the eare? If all were hearinge? wher were the smellynge? ¹⁸ But nowe hath God disposed the membres euerye one of them in the bodye, at hys owne pleasure, ¹⁹ If they were al one member: where were the bodye? ²⁰ Nowe are there manye membres, yet but one bodye. ²¹ And the eye can not saye vnto the hand: I haue no nede of the: nor the heade also to the fete. ² Beare ye one anothers burthen, and so fulfyl the lawe of christ.

¹⁸ but doth right vnto the fatherles & wydowe and loueth the straunger, to giue him fode and raiment.

²⁷ All the endes of the worlde shall remembre them selfes, and be turned vnto the Lorde: & all the generacions of the Heithen shal worshippe before hym. ²⁸ For the kyngdom is the Lordes, & he shal be the gouernour of the Heythen. ²⁹ All such as be fat vpon earth, shall eate also and worshippe. All they that lye in the dust, and lyue so hardly, shall fall doune before hym. ³⁰ The sede shall serue hym, and preache of the Lord for euer. ³¹ They shall come, and declare hys ryghteousnes: vnto a people that shallbe borne, whome the Lorde hath made.

⁵ Let the people prayse the, O God, let al people prayse the. ⁶ God, euen oure owne God, geue vs hys blessynge, that the earth maye brynge forth her encrease. ⁷ God blesse vs, and let all the endes of the world feare hym.

³ That whyche we haue sene and hearde declare we vnto you, that ye maye haue felowshyp wyth vs, and that our felowshype may be wyth the father and hys sonne Iesus Christ.

³ And Moses went vp vnto God. And the Lorde called to hym out of the mountayn, sayinge: thus saye vnto the house of Iacob, & tell the chyldren of Israel:

¹⁷ And the facion of the glorie of the Lord was lyke consumynge fyre on the toppe of the hyll in the syghte of the chyldren of Israel. ¹⁸ And Moyses went into the mountayne. And Moyses was in the mounte .xl. dayes. and .xl. nyghtes.

¹⁴ And he sayde: my presence shal goo wyth the, and I wyll geue the rest. ¹⁵ And he sayde: If thy presence goo not wyth me, carye vs not hence

¹² And the chyldren of Israel toke their iourney out of the deserte of Sinai, and the cloude rested in the wyldernesse of Pharan.

³³ which gothe the way before you, to serche you oute a place to pitche your tentes in, in fyre by nyghte, that ye myghte se what way to go and in a cloude by day.

⁹ after that I was gone vp into the mount, to fett the tables of stone the table of an appoyntment whych the Lord made wyth you. And I abode in the hyll .xl. dayes & .xl. nyghtes, & neyther ate bread nor dranke water.

²⁶ take the boke of thys lawe, & put it by the syde of the arcke of the testament of the Lorde your God, & let it be there for a wytnesse vnto the.

² And after thre dayes the offycers went thorowe out the hoste, ³ and commaunded the people, sayinge: when ye se the arcke of the testament of the lord youre God, and the priestes that are Leuites bearyng it: then departe ye from your places & folowe after it. ⁴ So yet that there be a space betwene you and it, aboute a two thousande cubytes by measure. And come not nye vnto it, that ye maye knowe the waye by which ye must go: for ye haue not gone by it in tymes past. ⁵ And Iosua sayde vnto the people, puryfye your selues, for to morowe the Lord shall shewe wonders amonge you. ⁶ Then Iosua spake vnto the priestes saying Take vp the arcke of the Testamente, and go before the people. And they toke vp the arcke of the testament, and wente before the people.

¹¹ Behold, the arcke of the appoyntemente of the Lorde of all the worlde shal go before you into Iordan. ¹² And now take you twelue men of the chyldren of Israel, of euerye trybe a man. ¹³ And as sone as the sooles of the fete of the priestes that beare the arcke of Iehouah (the Lord of al the world) treade in the water of Iordan, the water of Iordan shall deuyde it selfe: and the waters that commeth from aboue shall stande styll vpon an heape. ¹⁴ And when the people were departed from theyr tentes to go ouer Iordan (the Pryestes bearynge the arcke of the appoyntement before the people) ¹⁵ as sone as they that bare the arcke came vnto Iordan, and the fete of the Pryestes that bare the arcke were dypped in the brym of the water Iordan beyng full ouer all hys banckes all the tyme of harueste: ¹⁶ the water that came doune from aboue dyd stoppe and stode vpon an heape, a great waye from Adam, a cytye besyde Zarthan. And the water that wente doune vanyshed into the sea of the wyldernes called the salte sea as sone as it was deuyded: & the people went ryght ouer agaynst Ierycho. ¹⁷ And the priestes that bare the arcke of the appoyntemente of the Lorde stode styll vpon drye lande, vntyl all the people were cleane ouer Iordan.

²⁷ And they asked the Lorde: for there was the arcke of the apoyntment of God, in those dayes.

³ And when the people were come into theyr tentes, the elders of Israel sayde: wherfore hath the Lord beaten vs thys daye before the Philistines? let vs fetche the arcke of the appoyntment of the Lorde, oute of Siloh vnto vs, & let it come among vs, & saue vs out of the handes of oure enemyes.

¹¹ Therfore I sayd vnto them in my wrath, that they should not enter into my rest.

¹² This shall bringe reste, yf one refreshe the weerye, ye this shall bringe reste. But they had no will to heare.

¹ Thus sayeth the Lorde: Heauen is my seat, and the earth is my fote stole Where shal nowe the house stande, that ye wyll buylde vnto me. And where shalbe the place, that I dwell in?

¹⁶ Moreouer, when ye be increased and multyplied in the land, then (sayeth the Lorde) there shall no more boost be made of the arcke of the Lordes Testament: No man shal thincke vpon it, neyther shall any man make mencion of it: for from thence forth it shall neyther be visited, nor honoured with gyftes.

¹⁶ Thus sayth the Lorde: go into the streates considre and make inquisicion for the old way and yf it be the good and right waye, then go therein, that ye maye fynde rest for your soules. But they saye: we wyll not walcke therin

⁸ Beholde, I wyll brynge them agayne from oute of the north lande, and gather them from the endes of the worlde, wyth the blynde and lame that are amonge them, wyth the wemen that be greate wyth chylde, and suche as be also delyuered: and the companye of them that come agayne, shall be greate. ⁹ They departed from hence in heuynes, but wyth ioye wyll I brynge them hyther agayne. I wyl lede them by the ryuers of water in a straighte waye, where they shall not stomble: For I wyll be Israels father, and Ephraim shalbe my fyrstborne.

⁶ euen in the daye that I lift vp mine hande ouer them, to bring them out of the lande of Egipte, into a lande that I haue prouided for them, which floweth with milcke and hony, and it is a pleasaunte lande amonge al other:

²⁸ Come vnto me all ye that labour and are laden and I wyll ease you. ²⁹ Take my yocke on you and learne of me, for I am meke and lowly in herte: and ye shall fynde reste vnto your soules. ³⁰ For my yocke is easy: and my burden is lyght.

³ But we whiche haue beleued, do enter into his reste, as contrarywyse he sayde to the other: I haue sworne in my wrath, they shal not enter into my rest. And that spake he verely longe after that the workes were made, and the foundacion of the worlde layde. ⁴ For he spake in a certaine place of the seuenth day, on this wyse: And God dyd reste the seuenth daye from all his workes. ⁵ And in this place againe: They shall not come into my reste. ⁶ Seynge therfore it foloweth that some must inter therinto, and they to whom it was fyrst preached, intred not therin for vnbeleues sake: ⁷ Againe he appointeth in Dauid a certaine present day after so longe a tyme, saiynge as it is rehearsed, this daye yf ye heare his voice, be not harde herted. ⁸ For yf Iosue had geuen them reste, then woulde he not afterwarde haue spoken of another day. ⁹ There remayneth therfore yet a rest to the people of God. ¹⁰ For he that is entred into his reste doth cease from his owne workes, as God dyd from his. ¹¹ Let vs study therfore to enter into the reste, leste anye man falle after the same ensample, into vnbelefe.

²⁰ The God of peace that brought agayne from death oure Lorde Iesus, the great shepe herde of the shepe, thorowe the bloude of the euerlastynge testament, ²¹ And the Lord went before them by daye in a pyler of a clowde to leade them the waye: and by nyghte in a pyler of fyre to geue them lyght: that they myght goo both by day and nyght. ²² And the pyler the cloude neuer departed by daye nor the pyler of fyre by nyght out of the peoples syght.

¹⁵ And the same day that the habitacion was reared vp, a cloude couered it an hye vpon the tabernacle of witnesse: and at euen there was vpon the habitacion, as it were the symilitude of fyre vntyll the mornyng. ¹⁶ And so it was allway, that the cloude couered it by day, and the symylitude of fyre by nyght.

¹² and leddest them on the daye tyme in a cloudy pyler, and on the nyghte season in a pyler of fyre, to shew them lyghte in the waye that they wente.

¹⁹ yet forsokeste thou them not in the wyldernes, accordynge to thy great mercye. And the cloudye pyler departed not from them on the daye tyme to leade them the way neyther the pyler of fyre in the nyght season, to shewe them lyghte in the waye that they wente.

³⁹ He spred out a cloude to be a couerynge, and fyres to geue lyght in the nyght season.

¹⁰ and rewarded them that hate him before his face so that he bryngeth them to nought, and will not defarre the tyme to him that hateth hym but wyl rewarde hym before his face.

⁴¹ If I whett the edge of my swerd, & mine hand take in hand to do iustice, I wil shewe vengeaunce on myne enemyes & wyl reward them that hate me.

¹ To the chaunter, a Psalm and song. of Dauid. Let God aryse, so shall hys enemyes be scattered, and they that hate hym, shall flee before hym. ² Lyke as the smoke vanysheth, so shalt thou dryue them away: and lyke as waxe melteth at the fyre so shal the vngodly perysh at the presence of God.

⁸ Aryse, O Lord, into thy restynge place, thou and the arcke of thy strength.

¹² Wo be to the multitude of muche people, that rush in lyke the sea, and to the heape of folke, that runne ouer al lyke greate waters. ¹³ For thoughe so manye people increase as the flowynge waters, and though they be armed yet they fle farre of, and vanyshe awaye lyke the dust with the winde vpon an hill, and as the whirle winde thorow a storme. ¹⁴ Thoughe they be fearfull at night, yet in the morninge it is gone with them. This is their porcyon, that do vs harme, and heritage of them, that robbe vs.

⁹ Wake vp, wake vp, and be strong: O thou arme of the Lorde: wake vp, lyke as in tymes paste, euer and sence the worlde beganne.

⁶⁰ And they blessed Rebecca, & sayd vnto hyr: Thou art oure syster growe into thousande thousandes, and thy seed possesse the gates of theyr enemies.

¹⁰ For the Lorde youre God hath multiplyed you: so that ye are this day as the starres of heauen in nombr

¹³ Turne the agayn (O Lorde) at the last, & be gracious vnto thy seruauntes. ¹⁴ O satisfie vs with thy mercy, & that sone, so shall we reioyse and be glad all the dayes of our lyfe. ¹⁵ Comforte vs agayne, now after the tyme that thou hast plaged vs, and for the yeares wherin we haue suffred aduersitie. ¹⁶ Shewe thy seruauntes thy worke, & their chyldren thy glory. ¹⁷ And the glorious maiesty of the Lord our God be vpon vs: O prospere thou the worke of our handes vpon vs, O prospere thou our handy worke.

¹⁷ O Lord wherfore hast thou led vs out of thy waye? wherfore hast thou hardened our hertes, that we feare the not? Be at one with vs agayne, for thy seruauntes sake that are of the generacion of thine heretage.
