Then the Lorde was angry with Israel, ⁴ and sayed vnto Moses: take al the heades of the people, and hange them vp vnto the Lorde agaynste the sunne, that the wrathe of the Lorde maye turne away from Israel. ⁵ And Moses sayed vnto the iudges of Israel: go and slea those men that ioyned theym selues vnto Baal Peor. ⁶ And behold, one of the children of Israell came & broughte vnto hys brethren, a Madianitish wyfe euen in the syght of Moses & in the sighte of al the multitude of the children of Israel, as they were weppyng in the dore of the tabernacle of wytnes. ⁷ And when Phinehes the sonne of Eleazar the sonne of Aaron the prieste sawe it, he rose vp out of the company & toke a weapen in hys hand, ⁸ & went after the man of Israel into the hore house and thrust them thorow: both the man of Israel and also the woman euen thorowe the bealy of hyr. ¹⁴ But I haue a fewe thinges against the, that thou hast there, them that maintaine the doctryne of Balam, whiche taught in Balake, to put occasyon of synne before the chyldren of Israel, that they shoulde eate of meate dedicate vnto ydoles & committe fornicacion.

⁵ Se that thou neither bowe thy self vnto them neither serue them: for I the Lord thy God, am a gelouse God, & viset the synne of the fathers vppon the chyldren vnto the thyrd and fourth generacion of them that hate me:

²⁴ se thou worship not their goddes neyther serue them, neither do after the workes of them but ouerthrowe them & breake doune the places of them.

¹⁵ lest if thou make any agremente wyth the inhabiters of the lande, when they go a whorynge after theyr Gods and do sacrifice vnto theyr Goddes, they cal the and thou eate of theyr sacrifyce: ¹⁶ and thou take of theyr daughters vnto thy sonnes, and when theyr daughters goo a whorynge after theyr Goddes,

³⁸ The fatt of whose sacrifices they ate and dranke the wyne of theyr drynkeofferinges, let them ryse vp and helpe you and be youre protection.

¹⁷ Is the wicked deade of Peor to lyttell for vs, wherof we are not cleansed vnto this daye, & there was a plage in the congregacion of the Lorde:

⁷ and that ye go not vnto these nacyons that remayne wyth you: and that ye neyther make mencion or sweare by the names of theyr goddes: and that ye neyther serue them, nor bow your selues vnto them.

¹⁶ when ye haue transgressed the appoyntment of the Lorde youre God, which he commaunded you, and haue gone and serued straunge Goddes, and bowed your selues to them. Then shal the wrath of the Lord waxe whote vpon you, and ye shall peryshe quickly, from of the good lande which he hath geuen you.

¹⁸ And therto I haue lefte me seuen thousande in Israel, of whyche neuer man bowed his knees vnto Baal, nor kissed him with his mouthe.

²⁷ Yf anye of them whiche beleue not, byd you to a feste, & yf ye be disposed to go, whatsoeuer is set before you, eate, axing no question for conscience sake. ²⁸ But and yf anye man saye vnto you: this is dedicate vnto Idols, eate not of it for his sake that sheweth it, and for hurtyng of conscience (The earth is the Lordes, & al that therin is)

¹⁶ Howe agreeth the temple of God with Images. And ye are the temple of that lyuynge God, as sayed God. I wyll dwell amonge them, and walke among them, and wyll be theyr God, and they shall be my people. ¹⁷ Wherfore come out from among them, and separate youre selues (sayeth the Lorde) and touche none vncleane thynge: so wyll I receyue you,

¹¹ But who regardeth the power of thy wrath thy fearfull and terrible displeasure?

²⁵ And Iosua sayde: In as muche as thou hast troubled vs, the Lorde shal trouble the thys daye. And all Israell stoned hym wyth stones, and burnt them wyth fyre, and ouerwhelmed them wyth stones. ²⁶ And they caste vpon hym a great heape of stones that remaineth vnto thys daye. And so the Lorde turned from hys fearce wrath. Wherfore the name of the place is called the valeye of Acor vnto thys daye.

I wyll therfore worke after the luste of myne owne hert, that the droncken may perysh with the thyrstye. ²⁰ And so the Lorde wyll not be mercyfull vnto hym, but then the wrath of the lord & his gelousye, smoke agaynst that man, & al the curses that are written in thys boke lyght vpon hym, and the Lorde do out hys name from vnder heauen, ²¹ and separate hym vnto euell out of all the trybes of Israell accordyng vnto al the curses of the appoyntement that is written in the boke of this lawe.

⁴ And when the Angel of the Lorde had spoken these wordes vnto al the chyldren of Israel, the people cryed oute & wepte.

¹ When all this was perfourmed, the rulers came to me, & sayde: The people of Israell, and the priestes, & Leuites are not separated from the nacions in the landes as thouchynge theyr abhomynacions, namely of the Cananites, Hethites, Pheresites, Iebusites, Ammonites, Moabites, Egypcyans, and Amorites. ² For they haue taken the doughters of the same, and their sonnes, and haue myxte the holy seade wyth the nacyons in the landes: and the hande of the prynces and rulers hath bene pryncypall in hys trespace. ³ When I hearde thys, I rent my clothes and my rayment, and plucte of the hearre of my heade, and of my bearde, and sate mournyng. ⁴ And there resorted vnto me all such as feared the worde of the Lorde God of Israell because of the greate transgression. And I sate mournynge vntyll the euenynge sacryfyce.

⁶ And Esdras stode vp before the house of God, and wente into the chamber of Iohanan the sonne of Elialib. And when he came thyther, he ate no bread, nor drancke water: for he mourned because of the transgressyon of them that had bene in captiuite. ⁷ And they caused a proclamacyon be made thorowoute Iuda and Ierusalem, vnto al the chyldren whiche had bene in captyuite, that they shulde gather themselues together vnto Ierusalem: ⁸ And that whosoeuer came not within thre dayes accordynge to the deuyce of the rulers and elders, all hys substaunce shoulde be forfet, and be put oute from the congregacyon of the captyue. ⁹ Then all the men of Iuda and Beniamin gathered themselues together vnto Ierusalem in thre dayes, that is on the twentye daye of the nynth moneth: and all the people sate in the strete before the house of God, and trembled, because of the matter, and for the rayne.

¹² And at the same tyme shall the Lorde of Hostes call men to wepinge, mourninge, to baldnesse & puttynge on of sacke clothe.

³ This is the cause, that the rayne and eueninge dew hath ceased. Thou hast gotten the an whores foreheade, and canst not be ashamed.

¹² Fye for shame, how abhominable thinges do they? and yet they be not ashamed, yea thei knowe of no shame. Wherfore in the tyme of theyr vysytacion they shall fall among the dead bodyes, sayeth the Lorde.

²³ And when Iehudi had read thre or foure leaues thereof, he cut the boke in peces with a penne knyfe, and cast it into the fyre vpon the herth, vntill the boke was al brente in the fyre vpon the herth.

¹⁵ Wherfore heare now the worde of the Lord O ye remnaunt of Iuda. Thus sayeth the Lorde of Hostes the God of Israel: Yf ye be wholy purposed to go into Egipte, and to be there as straungers, ¹⁶ the swerde that ye feare, shall ouertake you in Egipte: and the honger wherof ye be here afrayed shall hange vpon you into Egipte, and there ye shall dye. ¹⁷ For al they, that of set purpose vndertake to go into Egipte, there to ease them selues of their mysery, shal peryshe with the swerde, wyth honger and pestilence, not one of them shall remayne, there shall none escape the plage, that I will brynge vpon them. ¹⁸ For thus sayeth the Lorde of Hostes the God of Israel: lyke as my wrath and indignacion is come vpon the enhabytoures of Ierusalem, so shall my displeasure go forth vpon you also, yf ye go into Egipte: For there ye shalbe reuyled, abhorred, brought to shame and confusyon: and as for this place, ye shall neuer she it more.

⁴ So Iohanan the sonne of Kareah, & al the captaynes of the Hoste, and al the people folowed not the commaundement of the Lord. Namely, to dwell in the lande of Iuda: ⁵ But Iohanan the sonne of Kareah, and all the captaynes of the Hoste, caryed awaye al the remnaunte in Iuda, that were come together agayne from the Heathen (amonge whome they had bene scatred) to dwell in the land of Iuda. ⁶ Men, wemen, chyldren, the kynges doughters, all those that Nabuzaradan the chefe captayne had left with Godoliah the sonne of Ahikam. They caryed awaye also the prophet Ieremy, Baruch the sonne of Neriah, ⁷ & so came into Egipte: for they were not obeyent vnto the commaundement of God. Thus came they to Thaphnis.

¹⁶ As for the wordes that thou hast spoken vnto vs in the name of the Lorde, we will in no wyse heare them: ¹⁷ but whatsoeuer goeth oute of oure owne mouth, that wyl we do. We wyl do sacryfice, and offre oblacions vnto the Quene of Heauen: lyke as we & our forefathers, our kinges and oure heades haue done in the cities of Iuda, & in the stretes, & feldes of Ierusalem. For then had we plenteousnesse of vytayles, then were we in prosperytie, and no mysfortune came vpon vs.

⁴ and the Lorde sayde vnto hym: Go thy waye thorow the cytie of Ierusalem, and set thys marcke Than vpon the foreheades of them, that mourne & are sory for all the abhomynacyons, that be done therin. ⁵ And to the other, he sayde that I myght heare: Go ye after hym thorow the cytye, slaye, ouerse none, spare none: ⁶ kyl and destroye bothe olde men and yonge, maydens, chyldren, and wyues. But as for those, that haue thys marcke Than vpon them: se that ye touche them not, & begynne at my sanctuarye. Then they began at the elders, whiche were in the temple,

¹⁷ Let the prestes serue the Lorde betwixte the porche & the aulter, weping and saying: be fauourable (O Lorde) be fauourable vnto thy people: let not thyne herytage be broughte to suche confusyon, leste the Heathen be Lordes therof. Wherfore shulde they saye amonge the Heathen: where is nowe theyr God?

¹³ and receiue the reward of vnrightuousnes. They count it pleasure to lyue deliciously for a season. Spottes they are and filthines, liuinge at pleasure, and in disceiueable waies feastinge with you, ¹⁴ hauinge eyes full of aduoutrye, and that can not cease to synne, begilinge vnstable soules. Hertes they haue exercised with couetousues. They are cursed children, ¹⁵ and haue forsaken the ryght waye, and are gone astray folowing the waye of Balam the sonne of Bosor, whiche loued the rewarde of vnrightuousnes,

¹³ They are the ragynge waues of the sea, fomyng out theyr owne shame. They are wandryng starres to whome is reserued the myste of darcknes for euer.

²⁵ And Eliazar Aarons sonne toke him one of the daughters of Putuel to wife whiche bare him Pinehas: these be the principal fathers of the Leuites in theyr kinreds

³⁰ And when Phinehes the Prieste, and the Lordes of the congregacion and heades ouer the thousandes of Israell whiche were wyth hym, hearde the wordes that the chyldren of Ruben, the chyldren of Gad and the chyldren of Manasses spake, they were well contente. ³¹ And Phinehes the sonne of Eleazar the priest sayde vnto the chyldren of Ruben, of Gad & of Manasses thys daye we perceyue that the Lorde is among vs, because ye haue not done thys trespase agaynst the Lorde. And now ye haue rydde the chyldren of Israell out of the handes of the Lorde.

²⁸ And Phinehes the sonne of Eleazar, the sonne of Aaron waytyng vpon it at that time, & they sayd: shal we go out any more to battel agaynst the children of Beniamin oure brethren, or shal we cease? And the Lord said go: for to morowe I wil deliuer them into youre handes.

¹⁰ And it happened on the morow, that the euyll spirite sente of God came vpon Saul, so that he prophesyed in the myddes of the house. And Dauid played on the instrumente wyth hys hande as he was daylye wont. ¹¹ And Saul had a speare in hys hand, and hourlde it entendyng to haue nayled Dauid to the walle. But Dauid auoyded out of hys presence two times.

⁹ And the euyll spyryte of the Lorde was vpon Saul as he sat in his house hauing a Iaueling in hys hande, and Dauid played wyth hys hande.

³⁰ Then stode vp Phynehes and executed iustice, and so the plage ceased.

⁴⁶ And Moses sayd vnto Aaron: take a censer, and put fyre therein out of the alter, and poure on cense, and go quickely vnto the congregation and make an atonement for them For there is wrath gone out from the Lord and ther is a plage begone. ⁴⁷ And Aaron toke as Moses commaunded hym, and ran vnto the congregation, & beholde, the plage was begonne amonge the people, and he putt on cense, & made an atonemente for the people. ⁴⁸ And he stode betwene the deade, & them that were a lyue and the plage ceased.

²⁵ & Dauid buylt there an aultare vnto the Lord, and ofred burnt sacrifices and peace offeringes And so the Lorde was agreed wyth the lande. And the plage cea. from Israel.

²² And Dauid sayde to Ornan: geue me the place of the thressyng flour, that I maye build an aulter therin vnto the Lorde. Let me haue it for as muche money as it is worthe, that the plage may cease from the people.

²⁹ Thus they prouoked him vnto anger with their owne inuencyons, and the plage was great among them. ³⁰ Then stode vp Phynehes and executed iustice, and so the plage ceased. ³¹ And that was counted vnto him for ryghtuousnesse, amonge all posterityes for euermore.

³⁷ dyed for theyr bryngyng vp that euyll sclaunder vpon it, & were plaged before the Lorde.

⁴⁹ And the numbre of them that dyed in the plage, were .xiiij. thousand and seuen hundred: beside them that dyed about the busines of Corah. ⁵⁰ And Aaron wente againe vnto Moses vnto the dore of the Tabernacle of wytnesse, and the plage ceased.

⁴ and sayed vnto Moses: take al the heades of the people, and hange them vp vnto the Lorde agaynste the sunne, that the wrathe of the Lorde maye turne away from Israel. ⁵ And Moses sayed vnto the iudges of Israel: go and slea those men that ioyned theym selues vnto Baal Peor.

¹⁶ beholde these caused the chyldren of Israel thorow Balam, to commyt trespace agaynst the Lorde, by the reason of Peor, & there folowed a plage among the congregacion of the Lorde.

⁵ If a man do hurt felde or vyneyarde so that he put in his beast to fede in another mans felde: of the beste of hys owne felde, & of the best of his owne vyneyarde, shall he make restitucion.

¹⁴ for thou shalt worshyp no straunge God. For the Lorde is called gelousee bycause he is a gelouse God:

²⁴ For the Lorde thy God is a consuming fyre, and a gelouse God.

²⁰ And so the Lorde wyll not be mercyfull vnto hym, but then the wrath of the lord & his gelousye, smoke agaynst that man, & al the curses that are written in thys boke lyght vpon hym, and the Lorde do out hys name from vnder heauen,

¹⁶ They angred him with straunge Goddes, and with abhominations prouoked him,

²¹ They haue angred me wt that which is no God, & prouoked me wyth theyr vanities. And I agayne wyll anger them wyth them whiche are no people, and wyl prouoke them wyth a folysh nation.

¹⁹ But Iosua sayde vnto the people, ye can not serue the Lorde: for he is an holye God & cannot beare youre transgressyon and synne.

¹⁴ and buried them with the bones of Saul and Ionathas his sonne in the countrey of Beniamin, in Zela, in the sepulchre of Cis his father. And when they had performed all that the Kynge commaunded, God was then at one with the lande.

²² And Iuda wroughte wyckednesse in the syght of the Lord, and angred hym aboue all that theyr fathers dyd, wt theyr synne whiche they synned.

⁵⁸ And so they greued hym with theyr hye places, & prouoked him with their ymages.

²³ So he sayde he wuld haue destroyed them had not Moses hys chosen stand before him in that gappe: to turne awaye his wrathfull indignatyon, lest he should destroy them.

³⁸ Moreouer, I will iudge the as a breaker of wedlocke and a murtherer, & recompence the thyne owne bloud in wrath and gelousy.

² The Lorde is a gelous God, & a taker of vengeaunce: yee a taker of vengeaunce is the Lorde, and wrathfull. The Lord taketh vengeaunce of hys enemyes, and reserueth dyspleasure for his aduersaries.

¹⁸ Nether theyr syluer nor theyr golde shalbe able to delyuered them in the wrothfull daye of the Lorde, but the whole lande shalbe consumed thorow the fyre of his gelousy: for he shall soone make cleane ryddaunce of all them that dwell in the lande.

⁸ Therfore ye shall wayte vpon me (sayeth the Lord) vntil the tyme that I stand vp: for I am determed, to gather the people & to bring the kingedoms together, that I may poure oute myne anger, yea, al my wrothfull displeasure vpon them. For all the worlde shalbe consumed wyth the fyre of my gelousy.

³⁶ He that beleueth on the sonne, hath euerlasting life, and he that beleueth not the sonne shall not se life: but the wrath of God abydeth on him.

²² Either shall we prouoke the Lorde? Or are we stronger then he? All thinges are laufull vnto me, but all thinges are not expedient.

² For I am gelous ouer you with godly gelousye. For I coupled you to one man, to make you a chaste virgyn to Christe.

²⁹ The Amaleckes dwell in the south contre, & the Hethytes, Iebusites and the Amorites dwel in the mountaynes, and the Cananites dwell by the sea and a longe by the costet of Iordan.

¹⁰ The mountaynes shal remoue and the hylles shal fal doune: but my louing kindnesse shall not moue, & the bonde of my peace shal not fal doune from the, saith the lord thy mercifull louer.

²⁵ Moreouer, I wyll make a couenaunte of yeare with them, and driue al euyl beastes out of the lande: so that they maye dwell safelye in the wyldernes, and slepe in the wooddes.

⁴ & ye shal know, that I haue sent this commaundement vnto you: that my couenaunt which I made with Leui, myght stande, sayeth the Lorde of Hostes. ⁵ I made a couenaunt of life & peace wt hym: this I gaue him, that he might stande in awe of me: & so he did feare me, & had my name in reuerence.

¹ Beholde, I wil sende my messaunger, which shall prepare the way before me: & the Lord whome, ye woulde haue, shall sone come to hys temple, yea, euen the messenger of the couenaunt, whome ye longe for. Beholde he commeth, sayeth the Lord of hostes

⁹ & gyrd them with gyrdels: as well Aaron as his sonnes. And put the bonettes on them that the priestes office maye be theirs for a perpetuall lawe. And fyl the handes of Aaron and of hys sonnes,

³⁰ And on the morowe, Moyses sayde vnto the people: Ye haue sinned a great synne. But now I wyll goo vp vnto the Lorde, to wytt whether I can make an attonement for your synne.

¹⁵ that their annointing may be an euerlasting preasthode vnto them thorowe out theyr generation.

¹² And therfore the chyldren of Israel cannot stande before theyr enemyes. They shall turne theyr backes before theyr enemyes, because they be excommunicate. Nether wyll I be with you any more, except ye destroye the excommunicate from among you.

³⁰ Wherfore the Lorde God of Israel sayth: I sayde that thyne house and the house of thy father shulde haue walked before me for euer. But now the Lorde sayth: that be farre from me: for them that worshyppe me, I wyll worshyp, & they that despyse me, shalbe despised.

³ Wherfore Dauid sayde vnto them: what shal I do for you? and wherwyth shall I content you that ye maye blesse the enheritaunce of the Lorde.

²⁷ And so Salomon put awaye Abiathar from beynge priest vnto the Lorde: to fulfil the wordes of the Lorde whyche he spake ouer the house of Eli in Siloh.

¹⁰ And he answered: I haue bene thorow angry for the Lorde God of hostes sake. For the children of Israel haue forsake thy couenaunt, & haue broken doune thyne aultars and slayne the Prophetes with the swerde, and I onlye am lefte, and they seke my soule to haue it to.

¹⁴ And he answered: I was gelouse for the Lorde God of hostes sake: because the children of Israel haue forsaken thine appointment and haue cast doune thyne aultars and slayne thy Prophetes with the swerde, and I only am lefte, and they seke my soule to haue it.

⁴ Eleazar begat Phinehes. Phinehes begat Abisue. ⁵ Abisue begat Boki. Boki begat Ozi ⁶ Ozi begat Zarahiah. Zarahiah begat Meraioth. ⁷ Meraioth begat Amariah. Amariah begat Ahitob. ⁸ Ahitob begat Zadoc. Zadoc begat Ahimaaz. ⁹ Ahimaaz begat Azariah. Azariah begat Iohanan. ¹⁰ Iohanan begat Azariah whyche mynystred in the temple that Salomon buylt in Ierusalem. ¹¹ Azariah begat Amariah. Amariah begat Ahitob. ¹² Ahitob begat Zadoc. Zadoc begat Selum. ¹³ Selum begat Helkiah. Helkiah begat Azariah. ¹⁴ Azariah begat Saraiah, Saraiah begat Iehozedec ¹⁵ whiche Iehozedec when the Lorde caried awaye Iuda and Ierusalem by the hand of Nabuchodonozor, went wyth them.

⁵⁰ These are the sonnes of Aaron: Eleazar, whose sonnes was Phinehes, and hys sonne Abisue: ⁵¹ and his sonne Boki, and the sonne of hym Ozi, and hys sonne Zarahia, ⁵² and the sonne of hym Meraioth, and his sonne Amariah, and the sonne of hym Ahitob: ⁵³ and Zadoc hys sonne, and Ahimaaz his sonne.

⁹ For the zele of thyne house hath euen eaten me, and the rebukes of them that rebuked the, is fallen vpon me.

³¹ And that was counted vnto him for ryghtuousnesse, amonge all posterityes for euermore.

¹³⁹ My zeale hath euen consumed me, because myne enemyes haue forgotten thy wordes.

⁶ But ye shalbe named the priestes of the lord, & men shall call you the seruauntes of oure God. Ye shall enioye the goodes of the Gentiles and triumphe in their substaunce.

¹⁸ neyther shal the priestes and Leuites want one to offre alwaye before me burntofferinges, to kyndle the meatofferynges, and to prepare the sacryfyces.

²² For lyke as the starres of heauen may not be nombred, neither the sand of the sea measured: so will I multyplie the seade of Dauid my seruaunt, and of the Leuites my mynisters.

¹⁷ And his dyscyples remembred how that it was written: the zele of thyne house hath euen eaten me.

³ I am verely a man which am a Iewe borne in Tharsus, a citie in Cicil: neuerthelesse yet brought vp in thys citie at the fete of Gamaliel, and informed diligentlye in the lawe of the fathers, and was feruent mynded to godwarde, as ye all are this same day, ⁴ and I persecuted thys waye vnto the deathe, byndynge and delyuerynge into pryson both men and women, ⁵ as the chief priest doth beare me wytnes and all the elders, of whome also I receyued letters vnto the brethren, and went to Damasco to bring them which were there bounde vnto Ierusalem for to be punyshed.

² For I beare them recorde that they haue a feruent mynde to Godwarde, but not accordynge to knoweledge. ³ For they are ignoraunte of the ryghteousnes whiche is alowed before God, and go aboute to stablish theyr owne ryghtuousnes, and therfore are not obediente vnto the ryghtuousnes whiche is of valoure before God. ⁴ For Christe is the ende of the lawe, to iustifye all that beleue.

¹⁷ Wherfore in al thinges it became him to be made like vnto his brethren, that he myghte be mercyfull and a faythful hye prieste in thinges concerninge God, for to pourge the people synnes.

¹¹ Yf nowe therfore perfeccyon came by the priesthode of the Leuytes (for vnder that presthode the people receyueth the lawe) what nedeth furthermore that another prieste shoulde aryse after the ordre of Melchisedech, and not after the ordre of Aaron?

¹⁷ (For he testifyeth thou arte a prieste for euer, after the ordre of Melchysedech). ¹⁸ Then the commaundement that wente before, is dysanulled, because of her weakenes and vnprofytablenes.

⁵ and ye as lyuynge stones, are made a spirytuall housse, and an holye priesthode, for to offer vp spyrytuall sacryfyce, acceptable to God by Iesus Christe.

⁹ But ye are a chosen generacyon, a royall priesthode, an holye nacyon and a peculyar people that ye shoulde shewe the vertues of hym that called you oute of darkenes into his marueylous lyght,

² and he it is that obtayned grace for our sinnes, not for oure sinnes onelye, but also for the synnes of al the worlde.

⁶ & made vs kinges and priestes vnto God his father: be glorye and dominyon for euer more. Amen.

²³ were numbred in the tribe of Simeon .lix. thousand and .iij. hundred.

¹⁴ These are the kinredes of the Simeonites: in numbre .xxij. thousand and two hundred.

⁷ Wherfore let the feare of the lord be wyth you, and take hede and do it. For there is no vnryghteousnesse in the Lord our God nor regarding of persones, nor taking of rewardes.

⁸ And they slewe the kynges of Madian amonge other that were slayne: Eui, Rehem, zur, Hur & Reba: fyue kynges of Madian. And they slew Balaam the sonne of Beor with the swerde.

²¹ and all the cyties in the playne. And all the kyngdome of Sehon, Kinge of the Amorites, whiche reigned in Hesbon, whom Moses smote wyth the Lordes of Madian, Eui, Rekem, Zur, Hur and Reba, the Lordes of Sehon, and the Enhabitoures of the countrey.

¹ And the Lorde spake vnto Moses saying: ² aueng the chyldren of Israel of the Madianites, and afterward be geathered vnto thy people. ³ And Moses spake vnto the folke saying: Harnesse some of you vnto warre, & let them go vpon the Madianites and auenge the Lord of the Madianites.

⁶ Reward her euen as she rewarded you, & geue her double accordinge to her workes. And youre in double to her in the same cuppe, which she fylled vnto you.

¹³ And the Lorde God sayd vnto the woman: Wherfore dydest thou so? And the woman answered: The serpent deceyued me and I ate.

¹⁰ Then sayd Abimelech: why haste thou done this vnto vs? one of the people myghte lyghtlye haue lyne by thy wife, and so shuldest thou haue brought synne vpon vs.

²¹ And than Moses sayde vnto Aaron: what dyd thys people vnto the that thou haste broughte so great a synne vpon them.

³⁵ And the Lord plaged the people, because they made the calf whych Aaron made.

³ But I feare leste as the serpente begyled Eue thorowe hys suttelty, euen so youre wyttes shoulde be corrupte from the synglenes that is in Christe.

¹⁸ For when they haue spoken the swellinge wordes of vanitie, they begyle with wantonnes thorowe the lustes of the fleshe, them that were cleane escaped, but nowe are wrapped in errours.
