¹ Moreouer my brethren, reioyce in the Lorde. It greueth me not to write one thinge often to you. For to you it is a sure thynge. ² Beware of dogges, beware of euyll workes. Beware of dyssencyon. ³ For we are cyrcumcysion, whyche worship God in the spirite, and reioyce in Christe Iesu, and haue no confidence in the fleshe, ⁴ though I haue wherof I might reioice in the fleshe. If any other man thinke that he hath wherof he mighte truste in the fleshe, much more I, ⁵ circumcised the eighte daye, of the kynred of Israel, of the tribe of Beniamin, an Hebrue borne of the Hebrues: as concerninge the lawe, a pharisey, ⁶ and as concerning feruentnes, I persecuted the congregation, & as touching the ryghtuousnes, whiche is in the lawe, I was vnrebukeable. ⁷ But the thinges that were vauntage vnto me. I counted losse for Christes sake. ⁸ Yea I thinke al thinges but losse for that excellent knowledge sake of Christ Iesu my Lord. For whom I haue counted al thinges losse, and do iudge them but dounge, that I myght wynne Christe, ⁹ and might be founde in hym, not hauinge mine owne rightuousnes, which is of the lawe, but that whyche spryngeth of the fayth, is in CHRISTE. I meane the rightuousnes, whiche commeth of God thorowe fait ¹⁰ in knowinge him and the vertue of his resurreccion, & the fellowshippe of hys passyons, that I myghte be conformable vnto his death, ¹¹ yf by anye meanes I myght atteyne vnto the resurreccyon from death. ¹² Not as though I had alreadie atteined to it, either were already perfecte: but I folowe yf that I maye comprehende that, wherin I am comprehended of Christ Iesu. ¹³ Brethren I count not my selfe that I haue gotten it: but one thinge I say. I forget that, whiche is behinde, & stretche my selfe vnto that whiche is before, ¹⁴ and prease vnto the marke appointed, to obteine the reward of the high callinge of God in Christe Iesu. ¹⁵ Let vs therfore as many, as be perfect be thus wyse minded, & yf ye be other wise minded, I pray God open euen this vnto you. ¹⁶ Neuertheles in the, whervnto we are come, let vs procede by one rule, that we may be of one accord. ¹⁷ Brethren be folowers of me, and loke on them which walke euen so, as ye haue vs for an ensample. ¹⁸ For many walke (of whom I haue tolde you often, and nowe tel you weping) that they are the enemies of the crosse of Christ, ¹⁹ whose ende is dampnation, whose God is theyr belye, and whose glorye is to theyr shame, whiche are worldlye minded. ²⁰ But oure conuersation is in heauen, from whence we loke for a sauiour, euen the Lorde Iesus Christ, ²¹ whiche shal chaunge oure vyle bodies, that they maie be fashioned like vnto his glorious bodie, accordinge to the working, wherby he is able to subdue all thinges vnto him selfe.

²³ Thus was destroyed al that was vpon the erth, both man, beastes, wormes and foules of the ayre, so that they were destroyed from the erth: saue Noe was reserued onlye and they that were with him in the arck.

⁵ Therfore, shalt thou no more be called Abram, but thy name shalbe Abraham: for a father of many nacions haue I made the, ⁶ and I wyll multyplye the excedyngly, and wyll make nacions of the: yea & kynges shal sprynge out of the. ⁷ Moreouer I wyl make my bonde betwene me & the, and thy seed after the, in their times to be an euerlastyng testament, So that I wyl be god vnto the & to thy seed after the. ⁸ And I wyl geue vnto the and to thy seed after the, the lande where in thou arte a straunger: Euen all the lande of Canaan, for an euerlastynge possession & wyl be their God. ⁹ And god sayd vnto Abraham: Se thou kepe my testament, both thou & thy seed after the in their tymes: ¹⁰ This is my testament which ye shal kepe betwene me & you and thy seed after the, that ye cyrcumcyse all youre men chyldren. ¹¹ Ye shall circumcyse the foreskynne of youre flesh, & it shall be a token of the bond betwyxte me and you. ¹² And euery man chylde when it is .viij. daies olde, shal be circumcysed among you in your generacions, and all seruauntes also borne at home or bought wt money though they be straungers and not of thy seed. The seruaunte borne in thy house, & he also that is bought with money, must needes be circumcysed,

¹⁷ When they had brought them out, they sayde: Saue thy lyfe & loke not behynde the nether tary thou in any place of the countre, but saue thy selfe in the mountayn, lest thou perysshe.

³ thou shalt prepare the way and deuyde the costes of thy land whych the Lord thy God geueth the to enheret, into .iij. partes that whosoeuer commytteth murther may flee thither. ⁴ And thys is the cause of the slayer that shal flee thither and be saued:

²⁶ Cursed be he that mayntayneth not the wordes of thys lawe to do them, and all the people shal say Amen.

²⁹ Wherfore kycke ye agaynste my sacryfyce and agaynst myne offeryng which I commaunde in the tabernacle, and honoreste thy chyldren aboue me, and make your selues fat of the fyrste frutes of all the offerynges of Israel my people?

³⁷ and the carkas of Iezabel shalbe donge vpon the earthe, in the felde of Iesrahell, the men shall not say thys is Iezabel.

¹⁶ & said: go with me & se the zeale I haue to the Lorde, & made hym ryde with him in his charet.

²⁸ And al Israel brought the Arcke of the Lordes couenaunt wyth shoutynge and blowynge of hornes, & with trompettes and symbales that sounded, and wyth psalteries and harpes.

¹⁰ Praise his holy name, and let the hertes of them that seke the Lorde reioyse.

³¹ The heauen reioyse and the earthe be glad, and let men tell amonge the nacyons that the Lorde is a kynge. ³² Let the sea thunder and hys fulnesse, and let the feldes reioyse, and all that is therin. ³³ Moreouer let the trees of the wood rynge at the presence of the Lorde: for he cometh to iudge the earthe.

²² & did eate & dryncke before the Lorde the same daye with great gladnesse. And they made Salomon the sonne of Dauid kyng the second tyme, and anoynted hym vnto the Lorde, to be ruler, and Zadock to be the prieste.

¹⁰ Therfore sayde he vnto them: go youre waye, and eate the fat, and dryncke the swete, and sende parte vnto them also that haue not prepared them selues: for this daye is holye vnto our Lorde, be not ye sory therfore: for the ioye of the Lorde is youre strength.

⁴ Sathan answered the Lorde, and sayde: Skynne for skynne? yee a man will geue all that euer he hath, for his lyfe.

²⁸ then am I afrayed of all my workes, for I knowe, thou fauourest not an euell doer. ²⁹ If I be then a wycked one, why haue I laboured in vayne? ³⁰ Though I washed my self with snowe water, & made myne handes neuer so clene, ³¹ yet shuldest thou dyppe me in the myer, and myne awne clothes shulde defyle me.

¹⁴ Wherfore dydest thou kepe me, when I synned, and haste not clensed me from myne offence? ¹⁵ Yf I do wickedlye, wo is me therfore: Yf I be righteous, yet darre I not lyfte vp my heade: so full am I of confusion, and se myne owne mysery.

¹⁴ What is man, that he shoulde be cleane? what hath he (whiche is borne of a woman) wherby he myght be knowne to be ryghtuous? ¹⁵ Beholde there is no trust to hys sanctes: ye the very heauens are not cleane in hys syght. ¹⁶ How much more then an abhominalbe and vyle man, which drincketh wickednesse lyke water?

⁹ The ryghteous wyll kepe his waye, & he that hath cleane handes, wyll euer be stronger & stronger.

⁷ yet he perisheth at the laste lyke dounge: In so moche that they which haue sene hym, saye: Where is he?

²⁶ Then shalt thou haue thy delyte in the Almighty, & lift vp thy face vnto God.

⁵ I haue geuen dyligente care vnto the, & nowe I se the with mine eyes. ⁶ Wherfor I geue myne owne selfe the blame, and take repentaunce in the duste and asshes.

⁶ There be many that saye: who wyll do vs any good? Lord lift vp vpon vs the lyghte of thy countenaunce. ⁷ Thou reioyseste myne herte, thoughe their encrease be great both in corne & wyne.

¹¹ Agayne, let all them that put their truste in the, reioyse: yea let them euer be geuynge of thankes, because thou defendest: them: that they whyche loue thy name, be ioyfull in the.

³ But they are all gone out of the waye, they are altogether become vnprofitable: there is none that doeth good, no not one.

¹¹ Thou hast shewed me the wayes of lyfe: thou shalte make me full of ioye wyth thy countenaunce. At thy ryght hande there is pleasure and ioye for euermore.

¹⁴ From the men of thy hande (O Lord) from the men of the worlde, which haue theyr porcion in this lyfe: whose bellyes thou fyllest with thy treasure. They haue chyldren at theyr desyre, and leaue the rest of of theyr substaunce for their babes. ¹⁵ But as for me, I wil beholde thy presence in righteousnes: and when thy glory appeareth, I shall be satisfied.

¹² Who can tell, how oft he offendeth? Oh clense thou me fro my secrete fautes.

¹⁶ For dogges are come about me, the counsail of the wicked hath layed seage against me. They pearsed my handes and my fete,

²⁰ Delyuer my soule from the swearde, my dearlyng from the power of the dogge.

⁸ O how frendly & rightuous is the Lord, therfore will he teach synners in the way. ⁹ He ledeth the symple a right, & suche as be meke them lerneth he his wayes.

⁴ One thynge haue I desyred of the Lorde, which I wyll requyre: namelye, that I maye dwel in the house of the Lorde all the dayes of my lyfe, to beholde the fayre beutye of the Lorde, and to viset his temple.

¹¹ Be glad, O ye ryghtuous, and reioyse in the Lord, be ioyful al ye that are true of herte.

⁴ Delyte thou in the Lorde, & he shall geue the thy hertes desire.

³⁷ Kepe innocency, and take hede vnto the thynge that is ryghte, for that shall brynge a man peace at the last.

¹ To the chaunter, a monicion of the sonnes of Corah. Like as the hert desyreth the water brokes, so longeth my soule after the, O God.

⁴ Now when I thincke ther vpon, I poure out my hert by my self: for I would faine go hence wyth the multytude and passe ouer wt them vnto the house of God, in the voyce of prayse and thankes geuynge, amonge suche as kepe holy daye.

¹⁰ Herken (O daughter) considre, & enclyne thyne eare: forget thyne owne people, & thy fathers house.

⁷ No man may deliuer his brother, nor make agrement vnto hym for God.

¹ A Psalme of Dauid, when he was in the wildernes of Iuda. O God, thou art my God: earlye wyll I seke the. My soule thrusteth for the, my flesh longeth after the in a baren and drye lande wher no water is. ² Thus do I loke for the in thy Sanctuary, that I myght beholde thy power and glorye, ³ For thy louynge kyndnesse is bettrr then lyfe, my lyppes shall prayse the.

¹⁵ My mouth shall speake of thy righteousnesse and sauyng health all the day longe, for I knowe no ende therof. ¹⁶ Let me go in (O Lorde God) and I wyll make mencion of thy power and righteousnesse onely.

²⁴ Thou leadest me with thy counsayll, and afterwarde receyuest me vnto glory. ²⁵ O what is there prepared for me in heauen? there is nothinge vpon earthe, that I desyre in comparyson of the. ²⁶ My fleash & my hert fayleth, but God is the strength of my herte, and my porcion for euer.

¹⁷³ Let thine hande helpe me, for I haue chosen thy commaundementes. ¹⁷⁴ I longe for thy sauyng health, O Lorde, and in thy law is my delyte. ¹⁷⁵ Oh let my soule lyue and prayse the, that thy iudgementes maye helpe me. ¹⁷⁶ I go astraye, lyke a shepe that is lost: Oh seke thy seruaunt, for I do not forget thy commaundementes.

⁶ He that now goeth in hys waye wepyng and beareth forthe good sede, shall come agayne with ioye, & bryng hys sheaues wyth hym.

³ If thou Lorde wylte be extreme to marke what is done amysse. Oh Lord who may abide it? ⁴ But ther is mercy wyth the, that thou maiest be feared.

⁸ The Lord shall make good for me, yea, thy mercy, O LORDE, endureth for euer despyse not then the worcke of thyne awne handes.

² And entre not into iudgement with thy seruaunt, for in thy sighte shall no man lyuyng be iustefied.

² Let Israell reioyse in hym that made hym, & let the chyldren of Sion be ioyfull in their kyng.

³ For if thou cryest after wysdome, & callest for knowledge: ⁴ if thou sekest after her as after money, & dyggest for her as for treasure: ⁵ then shalt thou vnderstande the feare of the Lord, & fynde the knowlege of God. ⁶ For it is the Lord that geueth wysdome, out of hys mouth commeth knowlege & vnderstandyng.

⁵ Put thy trust in the Lord wyth all thyne hert, and leane not vnto thyne own vnderstandinge. ⁶ In all thy wayes haue respecte vnto hym, & he shal ordre thy goinges.

¹⁸ The path of the ryghtuous shyneth as the lyghte, and is euer brighter and brighter vnto the perfecte daye.

⁸ With goodes euery man deliuereth his lyfe, and the poore wyll not be reproued.

²⁴ The waye of lyfe leadeth vnto heauen, that a man shoulde beware of hell beneth.

²³ Labour for to get the truth: sell not away wisdome, nurtour and vnderstanding

¹¹ Lyke as the dogge turueth agayne to hys vomyte, euen so a foole beginneth hys folishnesse agayne a fresh.

²⁰ for there is not one iuste vpon earth, that doth good, and synneth not.

⁵ Then I sayde: O wo is me. For I was astonished: that I (which am a man of vncleane lippes and dwell amonge people that hath vncleane lyppes also) shulde se the kynge and the Lorde of hostes wyth myne eyes.

¹¹ For the Lord chastised me, & toke me by the hande, and warned me, sayinge vnto me, that I shoulde not walcke in the waye of thys people. He sayde moreouer:

² Beholde, God is my health, in whom I trust, & am not afraid. For the Lorde God is my strength and my praise, he also shalbe my refuge. ³ Therefore wt ioye shal ye drawe water out of the welles of the Sauioure,

⁸ As for death, he shal vtterly consume it. The Lord God shall wype awaye teares from all faces, & take away the confusion of his people thorow the whole worlde. For the lord hym selfe hath sayde it.

¹ Then shal thys songe be sung in the lande of Iuda. We haue a stronge cyty, the walles and the ordynaunce shal kepe vs. ² Open the gates, that the good people maye go in, whiche laboureth for the truthe.

¹⁹ But as for thy dead men and oures, that be departed, they are in lyfe and resurreccion. They lye in the earthe, they wake, & haue ioy: for thy dewe is a dew of lyfe and light. But the place of the malycyous Tyrauntes is fallen awaye.

⁸ There shalbe fote pathes and comen stretes, this shalbe called the holy waye. No vncleane person shall go thorow it, for the Lorde hym selfe shall go with them that waye, and the ignoraunt shall not erre,

¹⁶ Thou shalt fanne them, & the wynde shall carye them awaye, and the whyrlwynde shall scater them. But thou shalt reioyse in the Lorde, and shalt delyte in praysinge the holy one of Israel.

²⁴ sayinge: Verelye in the Lorde is my ryghtuousnes and strength. To hym shall men come: but all they that thyncke scorne of hym, shalbe confounded. ²⁵ And the whole sede of Israel shalbe iustyfyed, and praysed in the Lorde.

¹³ I shall brynge forth my ryghtuousnesse. It is not farre, and my health shall not traye longe awaye. I wyll laye health in Sion, and geue Israel my glorye.

⁵ Thou helpest him that doeth ryght with cherefulnesse, and them that thyncke vpon thy wayes. But lo, thou art angry, for we offend and haue euer be in sinne, there is not one whole. ⁶ We are al as vncleane thinge, and all oure ryghteousnesses are as the clothes defyled with the floures of a woman: we fall euerychone as the leafe, for oure synnes carye vs awaie like the winde.

¹⁴ Beholde, my seruauntes shall reioyce for very quyetnesse of herte: But ye shal crye for sorowe of herte, and complayne for vexacyon of mynde.

Ye shall taste, and haue delite in the plenteousnesse of her power. ¹² For thus sayeth the Lorde: Beholde, I wyll let peace into her, lyke a water floude, and the myght of the Heathen lyke a flowinge streame. Then shall ye sucke, ye shalbe borne vpon her sides and be ioyfull vpon her knees.

⁴ Be circumcised in the Lorde, and cut away the foreskinne of youre hertes, all ye of Iuda and all the indwellers of Ierusalem: that my indignacion breake not oute like fyre & kindle so that no man may quenche it, because of the wickednes of youre ymaginacions.

¹ O who wil geue my heade water ynough, and a wel of teares for myne eyes: that I may wepe night and day, for the slaughter of my people?

²³ Moreouer, thus sayeth the Lorde: Let not the wyse man reioyse in his wisdome, nor the stronge man in hys strength, neyther the ryche man in hys ryches: ²⁴ But who so wyl reioyse, let hym reioyse in this, that he vnderstandeth and knoweth me: for I am the Lorde, which do mercy, equite, and ryghtuousnes vpon the earth. Therefore haue I pleasure in suche thynges, sayeth the Lorde.

²⁶ The Egypcians, the Iewes, the Edomytes, the Ammonytes, the Moabites, and the shauen Madyanites, that dwell in the wildernes. For all the Gentyles are vncyrcumcysed in the fleshe, but all the house of Israell are vncyrcumcysed in the herte.

¹⁷ But yf ye wyll not heare me, that geue you secrete warnyng, I will mourne fro my whole hert for youre stubburnesse. Pyteouslye wyll I wepe, and the teares shall gusshe out of myne eyes. For the Lordes flocke shall be caryed awaye captyue.

⁶ In hys tyme shall Iuda be saued and Israell shall dwell without feare. And thys is the name that they shall call hym: euen the Lorde oure ryghtuous maker.

¹⁹ and dishonoure me to my people, for an handfull of barleye, and for a pece of breade: when ye kyll the soules of them, that dye not, & promes lyfe to them, that lyue not: Thus ye dyssemble with my people, that beleueth youre lyes.

³ Ye haue eaten vp the fatte, ye haue clothed you wyth the wol: the best fedde haue ye slayne, but the flocke haue ye not noryshed.

³⁷ Then dyd I Nabuchodonosor loue, magnifye and prayse the kynge of heauen: for all hys worckes are true, and hys wayes righte. As for those that go on proudely, he is able to brynge them doune.

²⁴ .Lxx. weakes are determed ouer thy people, and ouer the holy citie: that the wickednesse maye be consumed, that the sinne maye haue an ende, that the offence may be reconcyled, and to bringe in euerlastinge righteousnesse, to fulfill the visions and the Prophetes, and to annoynte the most holy one.

⁷ The more they increased in the multitude, the more they sinned against me, therfore will I chaunge their honoure into shame.

³ Then shall we haue vnderstanding, and endeuoure oure selues to knowe the Lorde. He shall go forth as the springe of the daye, & come vnto vs as the eueninge and morninge rayne vpon the earth.

¹⁴ had not I defended hym from the graue, and delyuered hym from deathe. O death, I wyl be thy death: O hel, I wil be thy stynge.

²³ Be glad then (O ye chyldren of Syon) & reioyse in the Lorde youre God, for he hathe geuen you a teacher of ryghtuousnes: and he it is that shall sende you doune shuwers of rayne, early and late in the fyrste moueth,

⁹ He answered them: I am an Ebreue, and I feare the Lorde God of heauen, whych made both the sea & drye lande.

⁵ And as concernynge the prophetes that disceyue my people, thus the Lorde sayeth agaynst them: When they haue enye thynge to byte vpon, then they preach that all shalbe well: but yf a man put not some thynge is to their mouthes, they preach of warre agaynst hym.

¹¹ O ye iudges, ye geue sentence for gyftes: O ye preastes, ye teach for lucre: O ye Prophetes, ye prophecy for monye. Yet wyll they be taken as those that holde vpon God, and saye: Is not the Lorde amonge vs? Tushe, there can no mysfortune happen vs.

¹⁵ Wo vnto hym that geueth his neighboure dryncke, to get hym wrothefull dyspleasure for his dronckennesse: that he maye se his preuytees. ¹⁶ Therfore wyth shame shalte thou be fylled, in steade of honoure. Drincke thou also tyll thou slombre wyth al: for the cuppe of the Lordes ryght hande shall compasse the about and shamefull spewyng in steade of thy worshippe.

¹⁷ For the fygge trees shall not be grene, & the vynes shall beare no frute. The laboure of the olyue shalbe but lost, & the lande shall bringe no corne: the shepe shalbe taken oute of the fold & there shalbe no catel in the stalles. ¹⁸ But as for me, I wyll be glad in the Lorde, and wyll reioyce in God my sauyoure.

¹⁴ Geue thankes O doughter Syon, be ioyfull O Israell, reioyce and be glad from thy whole herte, O doughter Ierusalem,

¹⁷ for the Lorde thy GOD is with the, it is he that hath power to saue: he hath a specyall pleasure in the, & a maruelous loue towarde the: yea, he reioyseth ouer the wyth gladnesse.

⁷ Ephraim shalbe as a gyaunt, and their hert shalbe chereful as thorow wine: yea, their children shall se it, & be glad, & their herte shall reioyce in the Lord.

¹¹ For from the rysynge vp of the sunne vnto the goynge doune of the same, my name is greate amonge the Gentyles: yea, in euery place shall there sacryfice be done, & a cleane meatoffering offered vp vnto my name: for my name is great among the heathen, sayeth the Lorde of hostes. ¹² But ye haue vnhalowed it, in that ye say: the aulter of the Lorde is not to be regarded, & the thinge that is set ther vpon, not worthy to be eaten.

³ Behold, I shall corrupte your sede, and cast dong in your faces: turn the donge of your solempne feastes, & it shal cleue faste vpon you:

¹² Reioyce & be glad, for great is your reward in heauen. For so persecuted they the prophetes which were before your dayes.

²⁰ For I say vnto you except your rightuousnes excede, the rightuousnes of the scribes & phariseis, ye can not entre into the kingdom of heauen.

⁴⁸ Ye shall therfore be perfect, euen as your father which is in heauen, is perfect.

¹⁹ Se that ye gater you not treasure vpon the earth, where ruste & mothes corrupte, & wher theues breake throughe & steale. ²⁰ But gather ye treasure together in heauen, where neither rust nor mothes corrupt, & where theues neyther breake vp nor yet steale. ²¹ For wher soeuer your treasur is, ther wyl your hertes be also.

⁶ Geue not that whiche is holye, to dogges nether cast ye your pearles before swyne, lest they treade them vnder theyr feete, and the other tourne agayne and al to rent you.

¹⁵ Beware of false Prophetes, whiche come to you in shepes clothing, but inwardly they are rauenynge wolues.

²² Many will saye to me in that daye: Maister, maister, haue we not in thy name prophesied? And in thy name haue cast out deuylles? And in thy name haue done many miracles? ²³ And then will I knowledge vnto them, that I neuer knewe them. Departe from me, ye workers of iniquitie.

And no man knoweth the sonne but the father: neyther knoweth anye man the father, saue the sonne, and he to whom the sonne wyl open hym.

⁴⁴ Agayne the kyngdome of heauen is lyke vnto treasure, hidde in the fielde, the whiche a man fyndeth and hyddeth: and for ioye therof goeth and selleth all that he hathe, and byeth that felde. ⁴⁵ Agayne the kyngedome of heauen is lyke vnto a marchaunt that seketh good pearles, ⁴⁶ whyche when he had founde one precious pearle, went and solde all that he hadde, and bought it.

²⁷ Then aunswered Peeter and sayde vnto hym: Beholde we haue forsaken all and folowed the, what shall we haue? ²⁸ Iesus sayde vnto them: Verely I saye vnto you: when the sonne of man shall sit in the seate of hys maiestie, yea, which folow me in the second geueracion, shall sitte also vpon .xij. seates, and iudge the .xij. tribes of Israel. ²⁹ And whosoeuer forsaketh houses, or brethren, or systers, other father or mother, or wyfe or chyldren, or landes, for my names sake, the same shal receyue an .C. folde, & shal enherite euerlasting life.

²³ They aunswered to hym: that we are. And he sayde vnto them: Ye shall drynke of my cup, & shal be baptised with the baptisme that I shalbe baptised with. But to sit on my right hande and on my lifte hande, is not myne to geue: but to them for whome it is prepared of my father.

²⁵ Wo be to you Scribes and Pharises hypocrites, which make cleane the vtter side of the cuppe, & of the platter: but within they are ful of bribery and excesse.

²⁰ He aunswered to hym: mayster all these I haue obserued from my youth. ²¹ Iesus behelde hym, and had a fauoure to him: and sayed vnto hym: one thynge is lackynge vnto the. Go and sell all that thou haste, and geue to the poore, and thou shalte haue treasure in heauen, and come and folowe me, and take vp thy crosse.

⁶ Both were perfect before God, and walked in al the lawes and ordinaunces of the Lorde, that no man coulde fynde faute with them.

⁴³ And whence happeneth this to me that the mother of my Lorde shoulde come to me?

⁴⁷ And my sprete reioyceth in God my sauiour.

⁵⁹ And it fortuned the .viij. daye, they came to circuncyse the childe, and called his name Zacharias, after the name of his father.

²⁵ And beholde a certaine lawyer stode vp, & tempted hym, saiynge: Mayster what shall I do to enherite eternall lyfe? ²⁶ He sayed vnto him: What is writen in the law? how redest thou? ²⁷ And he aunswered and sayde: Loue thy Lorde God with all thy hert, and with al thy soule, and with all thy mynde, and thy neyghboure as thy selfe. ²⁸ And he sayed to hym: Thou haste aunswered ryght. Thys do and thou shalte lyue. ²⁹ He wyllinge to iustifye hym self, sayde vnto Iesus. Who is then my neyghboure?

⁴² verelye one is nedefull. Marye hath chosen her that good part whiche shall not be taken away from her.

¹³ Yf ye then which are euill, can geue good gyftes vnto youre chyldren, howe much more shall the father of heauen geue an holy spirite to them that desyre it of hym?

²⁰ But yf I with the finger of God caste oute deuyls, no doubte the kyngedome of God is come.

¹⁹ and I wyll saye to my soule: Soule thou hast muche goodes layde vp in store for many yeares: take thyne ease, eate, drinke, and be mery.

²¹ So is it with hym that gathereth ryches, and is not ryche in God.

³² Feare not litel flocke, for it is your fathers pleasure, to geue you a kingdom. ³³ Sell that ye haue, and geue almes. And make you bagges whiche were not old, and treasure that faileth not in heauen, where no these cometh, neyther mothe corrupteth. ³⁴ For where youre treasure is there wyll youre hertes be also.

⁴⁵ But and yf the euyll seruaunte shall saye in hys herte. My mayster wyll deferre hys commynge, & shall begynne to smyte the seruauntes, & maydens and to eate and drynke and to be droncken: ⁴⁶ the lorde of that seruaunte wyll come in a daye when he thynketh not: and at an houre when he is not ware, and wyll deuyde hym, & wyll geue hym hys rewarde with the vnbeleuers.

¹⁴ & thou shalte be happy, for they can not recompence the. But thou shalte be recompensed at the resurreccyon of the iust men.

²⁶ If a man come to me, and hate not hys father and mother, and wyfe, and chyldren and brethren & systers, moreouer and hys owne lyfe, he can not be my disciple.

³³ So likewise none of you that forsaketh not all that he hath, can be my discyple.

⁸ And the Lord commended the vniust steward because he had done wyslye. For the chyldren of thys worlde are in theyr kynde, wyser then the chyldren of lyght,

²³ But the houre cometh and nowe is, when the true worshyppers shal worshyp the father in spyrite and in trueth. For verelye suche the father requireth to worshyp him. ²⁴ God is a spyryte, and they that worshyp hym, must worshyp hym in spiryte and trueth.

And they that heare shall lyue. ²⁶ For as the father hath lyfe in him selfe, so lykewyse hath he geuen to the sonne to haue lyfe in him selfe, ²⁷ and hath geuen him power also to iudge, in that he is the sonne of man. ²⁸ Maruaile not at this, the houre shall come in the which all that are in the graues, shal heare his voice, ²⁹ and shall come forth: they that haue done good, vnto the resurreccion of lyfe, and they that hath done euil, vnto the resurreccion of damnacion.

³ This is lyfe eternall that they myghte knowe, the that onely very God, and whome thou haste sente Iesus Christ.

Ye men and brethren, what shall we do? ³⁸ Peter sayde vnto them: repent and be baptysed euerye one of you in the name of Iesus Christe for the remission of sinnes, and ye shall receiue the gifte of the holye ghost.

For beholde he prayeth, ¹² & hath sene in a vision a man named Ananias comminge in to hym, and putting hys handes on him that he myght receiue hys sight. ¹³ Then Ananias aunswered: Lord, I haue heard by many of this man, how much euyll he hath done to thy sainctes at Ierusalem, ¹⁴ and here he hath auctorite of the hye Pryestes to bynd all that call on thy name. ¹⁵ The Lorde said vnto him: go thy wayes for he is a chosen vessel vnto me, to beare me name before the gentyls and kynges, and the chyldren of Israel.

We shal not al slepe: but we shal al be chaunged, ⁵² and that in a momente & in the twinkling of an eye, at the sound of the last trompe. For the trompe shall blowe, and the dead shal rise incorruptible and we shal be chaunged. ⁵³ For this corruptible must put on incorruptibilitie; and this mortal muste put on immortalytye. ⁵⁴ When this corruptible, hath put on incorruptibilitie, and this mortal hath put on immortalite, then shalbe brought to passe the saiyng that is written. ⁵⁵ Death is consumed into victory. Death wher is thy stynge? Hel wher is thy victory? ⁵⁶ The stinge of death is sinne: & the strength of sinne is the lawe.

Nyght and daye haue I bene in the depe of the sea. ²⁶ In iorneyeyng often: in parils of waters: in parylles of robbers: in ieoperdyes amonge the heathen. I haue bene in peryls in cytyes, in peryls in wyldernes, in peryls in the sea, in peryls among false brethren, ²⁷ in laboure and trauayle, in watchyng often, in hunger, in thyrste, in fastynges often, in colde, and in nakednes.

²⁹ Who is weake, and I am not weake? Who is hurte in the faythe, and my herte burneth not?

⁴ And verely thoughe it came of weakenes that he was crucyfyed, yet liueth he thorowe the power of GOD. And we no doubte are weake in hym: but we shall lyue with hym by the myght of God among you.

⁴ traytours, headye, hye mynded, gredy vpon voluptuousnes more then the louers of God, ⁵ hauynge a simylytude of Godly lyuynge, but haue denyed the power thereof: and suche abhorre. ⁶ Of thys sorte are they which enter into houses, & bring into bondage women laden wyth synne which women are lede of dyuers lustes,
