⁷ Lo, then wolde I get me awaye farre of, and remayne in the wildernesse. Selah.

¹ Then thought Dauid in his hert: I maye peryshe one daye or other by the handes of Israell. There is no better for me, then to flee into the lande of the Philistines, that Saul of very dispaire to finde me, may cease to seke me any more in all the coastes of Israhel: for so I maye escape his hande.

¹⁴ Then sayd Dauid vnto all hys seruauntes that were wyth hym at Ierusalem: vp & let vs flee, for we shall not else escape from Absalom: Make spede to depart: leste he come sodenly & catche vs, & bryng some myscheue vpon vs, & smyte the cytie with the edge of the swerde.

²¹ And as sone as they were departed, the other came out of the wel, and went and tolde kynge Dauid and sayde vnto him: vp and get you quyckely ouer the water for suche counsel hath Ahithophel geuen. ²² Then Dauid arose and al the people that were with him, & they were come ouer Iordan be that it was daye, that there lacked not one of them, that was not come ouer Iordan.

⁴ let not thine eies slepe ner thyne eye lyddes slomber. ⁵ Saue thy selfe as a doo from the hande, and as a byrde from the handes of the fouler.

² Wold God that I had a cotage some where farre from folcke that I myghte leaue my people, & go from them for they be all aduoutrers and a shrynkynge sorte.
