¹⁸ Thou art gone vp an hye, thou hast ledde captiuitie captiue, and receyued gyftes for men: Yea, euen for thyne enemyes, that they might dwell with the Lord God.

¹⁸ How be it in very dede, can God dwel wt man on earth? Behold, nether heauen or heauen aboue all heauens is able to containe the: howe shuld the house then which I haue built for the do it?

⁷ That the congregacion of the people maye come about the, for their sakes therfore lyfte vp thy selfe agayne.

³ Who shall go vp into the hyll of the Lord? Or who shal remayne in his holy place?

⁷ Open your gates (O ye princes) lette the euerlastynge dores be opened, that the kyng of glory may come in. ⁸ Who is this kyng of glory? It is the Lorde strong and myghtie, euen the Lorde myghty in batell. ⁹ Open youre gates (O ye princes) let the euerlastynge dores be opened, that the kyng of glory may come in. ¹⁰ Who is this king of glory? It is the Lord of Hoostes, he is the kynge of glorye. Selah.

⁵ God is gone vp with a mery noyse, & the Lord with the sownde of the trompet.

⁶⁰ So that he forsoke the Tabernacle in Silo, euen his habitacyon wherin he dwelte amonge men.

¹ A Psalme of Dauyd. The Lorde sayde vnto my Lord: Syt thou on my ryght hande, vntyll I make thyne enemies thy fotestole.

¹³ For the Lord hath chosen Syon, to be an habitacyon for him selfe hath he chosen her. ¹⁴ This shalbe my rest, here wyll I dwel for I haue a delyte therin.

²² O ye chyldren, how longe will ye loue chyldyshnesse? how long wil the, scorners delite in scorning & the vnwise be enemies vnto knowlege? ²³ O turne you vnto my correccion: lo. I wil expres my mynde vnto you, & make you vnderstande my wordes.

⁷ Let the vngodly man forsake his wayes & the vnrighteous his ymaginacions, & turne agayne vnto the Lorde: so shall he be mercyfull vnto him: & to oure God, for he is redy to forgeue.

¹⁵ For thus sayeth the hye and excellent, euen he that dwelleth in euerlastingnesse, whose name is the holy one. I dwell hye aboue & in the sanctuary, and with him also, that is of a contrite & humble spirite: that I maye heale a troubled mind, & a contrite hert.

³⁵ Thus shall it haue .xviij.M. measures rounde about And from that tyme forth, the name of the cyte shalbe: the Lorde is there.

¹³ Go, and learne, what that meaneth: I haue pleasure in mercye, & not in offerynge. For I am not come to cal the ryghtuouse but the synners to repentaunce.

⁹ When Iesus was rysen the morowe after the Saboth daye, he appeared fyrst to Marye Magdalen, out of whome he cast seuen deuils.

⁴⁷ and that repentaunce and remissyon of synnes shoulde be preached in his name amonge all nacions. And must begynne at Ierusalem.

⁴⁹ And beholde, I wyl sende the promes of my father vpon you. But tary ye in the citye of Ierusalem, vntyll ye be endewed with power from an hye.

⁵¹ And it came to passe, as he blessed them, he departed from them, and was caryed vp into heauen.

¹⁶ & I will praye the father, and he shal geue you another conforter, that he may byde with you euer ¹⁷ which is the spirite of truth whom the worlde can not receyue, because the world seeth hym not, neyther knoweth hym. But ye knowe hym. For he dwelleth with you, & shal be in you.

²³ Iesus aunswered and sayd vnto hym, yf a man loue me, and will kepe my saiynges, my father also will loue hym & we will come vnto hym, and will dwell to hym.

⁷ Neuerthelesse I tell you the trueth, it is expediente for you that I go awaye. For yf I go not awaye, that comforter wil not come vnto you. But yf I departe, I wil sende hym vnto you.

¹³ Howe be it when he is come (I meane the spirite of truth) he wyll lead you into all truth. He shall not speake of hym self, but whatsoeuer he shal heare, that shall he speake, and he wyll shewe you thynges to come. ¹⁴ He shall glorifye me, for he shall receyue of myne, and shall shewe vnto you. ¹⁵ Al thynges that the father hath, are myne. Therfore sayd I vnto you, that he shal take of myne, and shewe vnto you.

² vntyll the day in whyche he was taken vp after that he, through the holy ghost, had geuen commaundementes vnto the Apostles whiche he had chosen: ³ to whom also he shewed him selfe aliue after his passion by many tokens, apperynge vnto them fourty dayes, & speakinge of the kyngdome of God, ⁴ & gathered them together, and commaunded them, that they shoulde not departe from Hierusalem: but to wayt for the promys of the father, wherof ye haue hearde of me. ⁵ For Iohn baptysed with water: but ye shal be baptised with the holy ghost, and that wyth in thys feawe dayes. ⁶ When they were come together they axed of him saiynge: Lorde wylt thou at thys tyme restore againe the kyngdome to Israel? ⁷ And he sayed vnto them: It is not for you to know the tymes or the seasons which the father hath put in hys owne power ⁸ but ye shall receiue power of the holy ghost, whiche shall come on you. And ye shall be witnesses vnto me in Hierusalem, and in al Iewrye, and in Samary and euen vnto the worldes ende. ⁹ And when he had spoken these thynges whyle they beheld, he was taken vp, and a cloud receiued him vp out of their sighte,

⁴ and they were all filled with the holye ghoste, and began to speake wyth other tounges, euen as the spyryte gaue them vtteraunce.

²³ hym haue ye taken by the handes of vnryghtuous persons after he was delyuered by the determinate counsell and for knowledge of God, and haue crucifyed and slayne:

³³ Sence nowe that he by the ryght hand of God is exalted, and hath receiued of the father the promyse of the holy ghost, he hath shed forth, that whyche ye now se and heare. ³⁴ For Dauid is not ascended into heauen: but he sayd: The Lord said to my Lord, syt on my ryght hande ³⁵ vntyll I make thy fooes thy fote stole. ³⁶ So therefore let all the house of Israell knowe for a surety, that God hath made the same Iesus whom ye haue crucifyed, bothe Lord and Christe. ³⁷ When they hearde this, they were prycked in their hertes, and sayd vnto Peter and vnto the other Apostles. Ye men and brethren, what shall we do? ³⁸ Peter sayde vnto them: repent and be baptysed euerye one of you in the name of Iesus Christe for the remission of sinnes, and ye shall receiue the gifte of the holye ghost. ³⁹ For the promyse was made vnto you and to your chyldren, & to all that are a farre, euen as manye as the Lorde oure God shall call. ⁴⁰ And wyth manye other wordes bare he wytnes and exhorted them saiynge: Saue your selues from thys vntowarde generacion. ⁴¹ Then they that gladlye receiued his preachinge, were baptysed, and the same daye there were added vnto them about thre thousande soules.

¹⁷ Ananias went hys waye and entred into the house, and put his handes on him, & said: brother Saul the Lord that appeared vnto the in the waye as thou camest, hath sent me, that thou myghtest receiue thy sight, and be fylled with the holy ghoste.

⁸ But God setteth out his loue that he hath to vs, seing that whil we wer yet sinners, Christ died for vs.

⁹ Do ye not remembre, howe that the vnrightuous shall not inheret the kyngdome of God? Be not deceyued. For neither fornicatours, neither worshipers of ymages, neither whormongers, neyther weaklinges, neither abusers of them selues wyth the mankynde, ¹⁰ neither theues, neythe couetous, neither dronkardes, neither cursed speakers, neither pyllars, shall inherete the kyngedome of God. ¹¹ And suche were ye verelye, but ye are washed, ye are sanctifyed, ye are iustifyed by the name of the Lorde Iesus, and by the spyryte of our God.

⁴⁵ as it is written: the fyrste man Adam was made a lyuinge soule, and the last Adam was made a quickeninge spirite. ⁴⁶ Howbeit that is not fyrste whiche is spyrytual: but that which is naturall, and then that which is spyrytual. ⁴⁷ The fyrste man is of the earth, earthlye: the seconde man is the Lorde from heauen.

¹⁶ Howe agreeth the temple of God with Images. And ye are the temple of that lyuynge God, as sayed God. I wyll dwell amonge them, and walke among them, and wyll be theyr God, and they shall be my people.

⁸ Wherfore he sayth: He is gone vp on hye, and had led captiuitie captiue, and hath geuen gyftes vnto men. ⁹ That he ascended, what meaneth it, but that he also descended fyrste into the loweste parties of the earth? ¹⁰ He that descended, is euen the same also that ascended vp euen aboue all heauens, to fulfyll al thinges.

¹⁸ And he is the head of the body, that is to wyt of the congregation: he is the beginning and fyrst begotten of the dead, that in all thinges he might haue the preeminence. ¹⁹ For it pleased the father that in him shoulde all fulnes dwel,

³ in whom are hyd al the treasures of wysdom and knowledge.

⁹ For in him dwelleth al the fulnes of the Godhead bodely,

¹³ when before I was a blasphemer and persecuter, and a tyraunte. But I obtayned mercye, because I dyd it ignorauntly thorowe vnbelefe. ¹⁴ Neuerthelater the grace of oure Lorde was more aboundaunt wyth fayth and loue whiche is in Christ Iesu. ¹⁵ Thys is a true saiynge and by all meanes worthy to be receyued, that Christ Iesus came into the worlde to saue synners, of whom I am chiefe.

³ For we our selues also in tymes paste, vnwyse, dysobedient, deceyued, in daunger to lustes, and to dyuers maners of voluptuousnes, lyuyng in malycyousnes and enuye, ful of hate, hatyng one another. ⁴ But after that the kyndnes and loue of our sauyoure God to man warde appered, ⁵ not of the dedes of rightuousnes, which we wrought but of hys mercy he saued vs, by the fountayne of the newe byrth, & with the renuyng of the holye ghost, ⁶ which he shed on vs aboundauntly, thorowe Iesus Christe oure sauyoure, ⁷ that we ones iustifyed by hys grace, shoulde be heyres of eternall lyfe, thorow hope.

³ Whyche sonne beyng the bryghtnes of hys glorye, and verye Image of his substaunce, bearinge vp al thinges wyth the worde of hys power, hath in his owne persone pourged our synnes, and is sitting on the right hand of the maiestie on hygh,

¹⁴ Seyng then that we haue a great hye prieste, which is entred into heauen (I meane Iesus the sonne of God) let vs holde our profession.

²⁰ whether the fore runner is for vs entred in I meane Iesus that is made an hye prieste for euer, after the order of Melchysedech.

¹ Of the thynges which we haue spoken this is the pythe: that we haue suche an hye prieste that is sytten on the ryght hande of the seate of maiestye in heauen,

²² whyche is on the right hande of God, and is gone into heauen, aungelles, power, and mighte, subdued vnto him.

²⁰ and the misery of the .vij. starres which thou sawest in my right hande, and the .vij. golden candelstickes. The .vij. starres are the messengers of the .vij. congregacions: And the .vij. candelstyckes which thou sawest are the .vij. congregacyons.

³ And I heard a great voyce out of heauen saying: beholde, the tabernacle of God is wt men, and he wyll dwell with them. And they shal be his people, & God hym selfe shalbe with them & be theyr God.
