⁷ And why? for thy sake do I suffre reprofe, shame couereth my face.

⁶ But as for me, I am a worme & no man: a very scorne of men and the outcaste of the people. ⁷ Al they that se me, laugh me to scorne: thei shute out their lippes, & shake their heades. ⁸ He trusted in God, let hym delyuer hym: let him helpe hym, if he will haue hym.

¹⁵ My confusion is dayly before me, and the shame of my face couereth me.

²² But for thy sake we are kylled all the daye longe, and are counted as shepe apoynted to be slayne.

⁶ but I offre my backe vnto the smyters, & my chekes to the uyppers. I turne not my face from shame & spyttynge,

³ He shalbe the most simple, and despysed of all, which yet hath good experience of sorowes & infyrmyties. We shall reken him so symple and so vyle, that we shall hyde our faces from hym.

¹⁵ O Lorde (sayde I then) thou knowest all thinges, therfore remembre me, & vyset me, delyuer me fro my persecuters: Recyeue not my cause in thy longe wrath, yet thou knowest, that for thy sake I suffre rebuke.

⁶⁷ Then spat they in hys face and boffeted hym wyth fistes. And other smot hym with the palme of theyr handes ⁶⁸ on the face, sayinge tell vs thou Christ who is he that smote the?

²⁹ and platted a croune of thornes & put vpon his head, and a reed in his ryght hande, & bowed their knees before him and mocked hym, sayinge: hayle kinge of the Iewes, ³⁰ and spitted vpon hym & toke the reed and smote him on the head.

³⁸ And ther were two theues crucifyed with him one on the right hande, and another on the lyfte. ³⁹ They that passed by, reuyled hym wagginge their heades ⁴⁰ & sayinge: Thou that destroyest the temple of God and buyldest it in thre dayes: saue thy selfe. If thou be the sonne of God: come doune from the crosse. ⁴¹ Lykewise also the hye priestes mockynge hym with the scrybes and elders sayde. ⁴² He saued other, him selfe he can not saue. If he be the kinge of Israel let him now come doune from the crosse, and we wyll beleue him. ⁴³ He trusted in God, let hym deliuer hym now, if he wyl haue him: for he sayde I am the sonne of God. ⁴⁴ That same also the theues which were crucified with him cast in his teth.

¹¹ And Herode with his men of warre despysed him and mocked him, and arayed him in white, and sent him again to Pilate.

³⁵ And the people stode and behelde. And the rulers mocked him with them saiyng: he holpe other men let him helpe him selfe, if he be Christ the chosen of God. ³⁶ The souldiers also mocked him and came and gaue him vineger ³⁷ and sayed: if thou be that kinge of the Iewes, saue thy selfe.

²¹ But all these thinges wyll they do vnto you, for my names sake, because they haue not knowen him that sent me. ²² Yf I had not come, and spoken vnto them, they should not haue had synne: but now haue they nothynge to cloke theyr synne with all. ²³ He that hateth me, hateth my father. ²⁴ If I had not done workes among them which none other man dyd, they had not had synne. But now haue they sene, & yet haue hated both me & my father:

² lokynge vnto Iesus the author and fynysher of our fayth, whiche for the ioye that was set before hym, abode the crosse, and despised the same, and is set doune on the ryght hande of the throne of God.
