² so at supper, knowing that though the devil had suggested to Judas Iscariot, Simon's son, to betray him,

³ and Satan entered Judas called Iscariot, a member of the twelve,

³¹ Simon, Simon, Satan has claimed the right to sift you all like wheat,

⁷⁰ Jesus answered them, "Did I not choose you, the twelve? And yet one of you is a devil!" ⁷¹ (He meant Judas the son of Simon Iscariot; for Judas was to betray him — and he was one of the twelve.)

⁴ he rose from table, laid aside his robe, and tied a towel round him,

²⁶ Jesus answered, "The man I am going to give this piece of bread to, when I dip it in the dish." Then he took the piece of bread, dipped it, and gave it to Judas, the son of Simon Iscariot; ²⁷ and when he took the bread, at that moment Satan entered him. ¹⁷ for God has put it into their hearts to execute his purpose, by having one mind and by conferring their royal power upon the Beast, until the words of God are fulfilled.
