²¹ But the hand of my betrayer is on the table beside me!

²¹ and as they were eating he said, "One of you is going to betray me." ²² They were greatly distressed at this, and each of them said to him, "Lord, surely it is not me." ²³ He answered, "One who has dipped his hand into the same dish as myself is going to betray me. ²⁴ The Son of man goes the road that the scripture has described for him, but woe to the man by whom the Son of man is betrayed! Better that man had never been born!"

¹⁸ As they were at table eating, Jesus said, "Truly I tell you, one of you is going to betray me, one who is eating with me." ¹⁹ They got distressed at this, and said to him one after another, "Surely it is not me?" "Surely it is not me?" ²⁰ "One of the twelve," he told them, "one who is dipping into the same dish as I am. ²¹ The Son of man goes the road that the scripture has described for him, but woe to the man by whom the Son of man is betrayed! Better that man had never been born!"

¹⁸ When I say 'you,' I do not mean you all; I know the men of my choice, and I made my choice that this scripture might be fulfilled, he who eats my bread has lifted up his heel against me. ¹⁹ I am telling you this now, before it occurs, so that when it has occurred you may believe who I am.
