³ So he entered one of the boats, which belonged to Simon, and asked him to push out a little from the land. Then he sat down and taught the people from the boat.

¹⁸ As he was walking along the sea of Galilee he saw two brothers, Simon (who is called Peter) and his brother Andrew, casting a net in the sea — for they were fishermen;

¹ That same day Jesus went out of the house and seated himself by the seaside; ² but, as great crowds gathered to him, he entered a boat and sat down, while all the crowd stood on the beach.

¹ Once more he proceeded to teach by the seaside, and a crowd gathered round him greater than ever, so he entered a boat on the sea and sat down, while all the crowd stayed on shore. ² He gave them many lessons in parables, and said to them in the course of his teaching:

⁴¹ In the morning he met his brother Simon and told him, "We have found the messiah" (which may be translated, 'Christ'). ⁴² He took him to Jesus; Jesus gazed at him and said, "You are Simon, the son of John? Your name is to be Cephas" (meaning 'Peter' or 'rock').

² Early in the morning he returned to the temple, the people all came to him, and he sat down and taught them.
