⁵² This man went to Pilate, and begged the body of Jesus.

³⁸ After these things, Joseph of Ramath, (for he was a disciple of Jesus, and kept concealed through fear of the Jews,) requested of Pilate, that he might take away the body of Jesus. And Pilate permitted. And he came, and bore away the body of Jesus. ³⁹ And there came also Nicodemus, (he who previously came to Jesus by night,) and he brought with him a compound of myrrh and aloes, about a hundred pounds. ⁴⁰ and they bore away the body of Jesus, and wound it in linens and aromatics, as it is the custom of the Jews to bury. ⁴¹ And there was a garden in the place where Jesus was crucified, and in the garden a new sepulchre in which no person had ever been laid. ⁴² And there they laid Jesus, because the sabbath had commenced, and because the sepulchre was near.
