⁷ and the dust returns to the earth as it was, and the spirit returns to God who gave it.

⁷ And God formed man from the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being.

¹⁹ By the sweat of your face will you eat bread until you return to the ground, for out of it you were taken. For you are dust, and to dust you shall return."

²⁷ Abraham answered, "Look, I have taken it on myself to speak to the Lord, I who am but dust and ashes.

²² They fell on their faces, and said, "God, the God of the spirits of all flesh, shall one man sin, and will you be angry with all the congregation?"

¹⁶ "Let the LORD, the God of the spirits of all flesh, appoint a man over the congregation,

¹⁹ How much more, those who dwell in houses of clay, whose foundation is in the dust, who are crushed before the moth. ²⁰ Between morning and evening they are destroyed. They perish forever without any regarding it.

²¹ Why do you not pardon my disobedience, and take away my iniquity? For now shall I lie down in the dust. You will seek me diligently, but I shall not be."

¹¹ His bones are full of his youth, but youth shall lie down with him in the dust.

¹⁴ If he set his heart on himself, If he gathered to himself his spirit and his breath, ¹⁵ all flesh would perish together, and man would turn again to dust.

³ You turn man to destruction, saying, "Return, you descendants of Adam."

⁴ His spirit departs, and he returns to the earth. In that very day, his thoughts perish.

²⁰ All go to one place. All are from the dust, and all turn to dust again. ²¹ Who knows the spirit of man, whether it goes upward, and the spirit of the animal, whether it goes downward to the earth?"

¹⁶ For I will not contend forever, neither will I be always angry; for the spirit would faint before me, and the souls who I have made.

¹⁶ So Zedekiah the king swore secretly to Jeremiah, saying, "As the LORD lives, who made us this soul, I will not put you to death, neither will I give you into the hand of these men who seek your life."

² Many of those who sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt.

²³ to the assembly of the firstborn who are enrolled in heaven, to God the Judge of all, to the spirits of righteous people made perfect,
