² and he said, "See now, my lords, please turn aside into your servant's house, and stay all night, and wash your feet, then you may rise up early, and go on your way." They said, "No, but we will stay in the street all night."

⁴ Now let a little water be brought, and wash your feet, and rest yourselves under the tree.

¹⁷ He lifted up his eyes, and saw the traveler in the street of the city. And the old man said, "Where are you going, and where did you come from?" ¹⁸ He said to him, "We are passing from Bethlehem in Judah to the farther side of the hill country of Ephraim. I am from there, and I went to Bethlehem in Judah. And I am going to my home, and there is no one who will take me into his home. ¹⁹ Yet there is both straw and feed for our donkeys, and there is bread and wine also for me, and for your female servant, and for the young man who is with your servants. There is no lack of anything." ²⁰ And the old man said, "Peace be to you. I will take care of all your needs; however, do not spend the night in the square." ²¹ So he brought him into his house, and fed the donkeys. And they washed their feet, and ate and drank.

²⁸ They drew near to the village, where they were going, and he acted like he would go further. ²⁹ They urged him, saying, "Stay with us, for it is almost evening, and the day is almost over." He went in to stay with them.

¹⁵ When she and her household were baptized, she urged us, saying, "If you have judged me to be faithful to the Lord, come into my house, and stay." So she persuaded us.
