¹⁶ When Joseph saw Benjamin with them, he said to the servant of his house, "Bring the men into the house, and slaughter an animal and prepare it; for the men will eat with me at noon."

² Abram said, "Lord, what will you give me, seeing I go childless, and the heir of my estate is Eliezer of Damascus?"

⁸ The child grew, and was weaned. Abraham made a great feast on the day that Isaac was weaned.

² Abraham said to his servant, the elder of his house, who ruled over all that he had, "Please put your hand under my thigh. ³ I will make you swear by the God of heaven and earth, that you shall not take a wife for my son from the daughters of the Canaanites, among whom I live. ⁴ But you shall go to my country, and to my relatives, and take a wife for my son Isaac." ⁵ The servant said to him, "What if the woman isn't willing to follow me to this land? Must I then bring your son back to the land from which you came?" ⁶ Abraham said to him, "Be careful that you do not take my son back there. ⁷ Now the God of heaven, who took me from my father's house, and from the land of my birth, who spoke to me, and who swore to me, saying, 'I will give this land to your offspring' -- he will send his angel before you, and you shall take a wife for my son from there. ⁸ If the woman isn't willing to follow you, then you shall be free from this oath to me. Only you shall not bring my son there again." ⁹ The servant put his hand under the thigh of Abraham his master, and swore to him concerning this matter. ¹⁰ The servant took ten camels, of his master's camels, and departed, having a variety of good things of his master's with him. He arose, and went to Aram Naharaim, to the city of Nahor.

³⁰ He made them a feast, and they ate and drank.

⁵⁴ Jacob offered a sacrifice on the mountain, and called his relatives to eat the meal. They ate the meal and stayed all night on the mountain.

⁴ So Joseph found favor in the sight of his master, and attended him, and he made him overseer of his house, and all that he had he put under his authority. ⁵ And it came about that from the time that he made him overseer of his household and over all that he had, that the LORD blessed the Egyptianʼs house because of Joseph; and the blessing of the LORD was on all that he had, in the house and in the field.

¹⁹ So they came near to the man of Josephʼs house and they spoke to him at the entrance of the house,

¹ Then he instructed the manager of his house, saying, "Fill the menʼs sacks with as much food as they can carry, and put each manʼs silver in the mouth of his sack.

⁴ When they were far from the city, Joseph said to his manager, "Up, go after the men, and when you overtake them, ask them, 'Why have you repaid evil for good?

¹¹ Shall I then take my bread, and my wine, and my meat that I have slaughtered for the shearers of my sheep, and give it to men who I do not know where they come from?"

² She has prepared her meat. She has mixed her wine. She has also set her table.
