²⁶ Therefore hear the word of the LORD, all Judah who dwell in the land of Egypt: 'Look, I have sworn by my great name,' says the LORD, 'that my name shall no more be named in the mouth of any man of Judah in all the land of Egypt, saying, "As the Lord GOD lives."

¹⁶ and said, "I have sworn by myself," says the LORD, "because you have done this thing, and have not withheld your son, your only one, from me,

²¹ But truly, as I live, and as all the earth shall be filled with the glory of the LORD; ²² because all those men who have seen my glory, and my signs, which I worked in Egypt and in the wilderness, yet have tempted me these ten times, and have not listened to my voice; ²³ surely they shall not see the land which I swore to their fathers, neither shall any of those who despised me see it:

²⁸ Tell them, 'As I live, says the LORD, surely as you have spoken in my ears, so will I do to you:

⁴⁰ For I lift up my hand to heaven, and say, 'As I live forever, ⁴¹ if I sharpen my flashing sword and my hand takes hold on judgment; I will render vengeance to my adversaries, and will recompense those who hate me. ⁴² I will make my arrows drunk with blood. My sword shall devour flesh with the blood of the slain and the captives, from the head of the leaders of the enemy.'"

¹⁶ But to the wicked God says, "What right do you have to declare my statutes, that you have taken my covenant on your lips,

³⁴ I will not break my covenant, nor alter what my lips have uttered.

¹ "Hear this, house of Jacob, you who are called by the name of Israel, and have come forth out of the waters of Judah; who swear by the name of the LORD, and make mention of the God of Israel, but not in truth, nor in righteousness ² (for they call themselves of the holy city, and stay themselves on the God of Israel; the LORD of hosts is his name):

⁸ The LORD has sworn by his right hand, and by the arm of his strength, "Surely I will no more give your grain to be food for your enemies; and foreigners shall not drink your new wine, for which you have labored:

² and you shall swear, 'As the LORD lives,' in truth, in justice, and in righteousness. The nations shall bless themselves in him, and in him shall they glory."

² Though they say, 'As the LORD lives;' surely they swear falsely."

⁹ Will you steal, murder, and commit adultery, and swear falsely, and burn incense to Baal, and walk after other gods that you have not known,

⁵ But if you will not hear these words, I swear by myself, says the LORD, that this house shall become a desolation."

¹⁸ "As I live," says the King, "whose name is the LORD of hosts, surely like Tabor among the mountains, and like Carmel by the sea, so shall he come.

⁷ The LORD has sworn by the pride of Jacob, "Surely I will never forget any of their works.

⁴ I will stretch out my hand against Judah, and against all the inhabitants of Jerusalem. I will cut off the remnant of Baal from this place: the name of the idolatrous and pagan priests, ⁵ those who worship the host of heaven on the housetops, those who worship and swear by the LORD and also swear by Milcom,

¹⁸ To whom did he swear that they would not enter into his rest, but to those who were disobedient?

¹³ For when God made a promise to Abraham, since he could swear by none greater, he swore by himself,

¹⁸ that by two immutable things, in which it is impossible for God to lie, we may have a strong encouragement, who have fled for refuge to take hold of the hope set before us.
