¹⁴ If a man dies, shall he live again? All the days of my warfare would I wait, until my release should come.

¹ "Isn't a man forced to labor on earth? Aren't his days like the days of a hired hand?

¹⁵ Look, he will kill me. I have no hope. Nevertheless, I will maintain my ways before him.

⁵ Seeing his days are determined, the number of his months is with you, and you have appointed his bounds that he can't pass;

²⁵ But as for me, I know that my Redeemer lives. In the end, he will stand upon the earth. ²⁶ After my skin is destroyed, then in my flesh shall I see God,

¹⁶ After this Job lived one hundred forty years, and saw his sons, and his sons' sons, to four generations.

¹⁴ Wait for the LORD. Be strong, and let your heart take courage. Yes, wait for the LORD.

¹ [For the Chief Musician. A Psalm by David.] I waited patiently for the LORD, and he turned to me, and heard my cry. ² He also brought me up out of a pit of tumult, out of the miry clay; and he set my feet on a rock, making my steps secure.

²⁵ The LORD is good to those who wait for him, to the soul that seeks him. ²⁶ It is good that a man should hope and quietly wait for the salvation of the LORD.

¹ The hand of the LORD was on me, and he brought me out in the Spirit of the LORD, and set me down in the midst of the valley; and it was full of bones. ² He caused me to pass by them all around: and look, there were very many in the open valley; and look, they were very dry. ³ He said to me, "Son of man, can these bones live?" I answered, "Lord GOD, you know." ⁴ Again he said to me, "Prophesy over these bones, and tell them, 'You dry bones, hear the word of the LORD.' ⁵ Thus says the Lord GOD to these bones: 'Look, I will cause breath to enter into you, and you shall live. ⁶ I will lay sinews on you, and will bring up flesh on you, and cover you with skin, and put breath in you, and you shall live; and you shall know that I am the LORD.'" ⁷ So I prophesied as I was commanded: and as I prophesied, there was a noise, and look, an earthquake; and the bones came together, bone to its bone. ⁸ I saw, and, look, there were sinews on them, and flesh came up, and skin covered them above; but there was no breath in them. ⁹ Then he said to me, "Prophesy to the wind, prophesy, son of man, and tell the wind, 'Thus says the Lord GOD: Come from the four winds, breath, and breathe on these slain, that they may live.'" ¹⁰ So I prophesied as he commanded me, and the breath came into them, and they lived, and stood up on their feet, an exceedingly great army. ¹¹ Then he said to me, "Son of man, these bones are the whole house of Israel: look, they say, 'Our bones are dried up, and our hope is lost; we are completely cut off.' ¹² Therefore prophesy, and tell them, 'Thus says the Lord GOD: Look, I will open your graves, and cause you to come up out of your graves, my people; and I will bring you into the land of Israel. ¹³ You shall know that I am the LORD, when I have opened your graves, and caused you to come up out of your graves, my people. ¹⁴ I will put my Spirit in you, and you shall live, and I will place you in your own land: and you shall know that I, the LORD, have spoken it and performed it,' says the LORD."

²⁹ But Jesus answered them, "You are mistaken, not knowing the Scriptures, nor the power of God. ³⁰ For in the resurrection they neither marry, nor are given in marriage, but are like the angels in heaven. ³¹ But concerning the resurrection of the dead, have you not read that which was spoken to you by God, saying, ³² 'I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob?' God is not the God of the dead, but of the living."

²⁸ Do not be amazed at this, for the hour comes, in which all that are in the tombs will hear his voice, ²⁹ and will come out; those who have done good, to the resurrection of life; and those who have done evil, to the resurrection of judgment.

⁸ Why is it judged incredible with you, if God does raise the dead?

⁴² So also is the resurrection of the dead. It is sown in corruption; it is raised in incorruption. ⁴³ It is sown in dishonor; it is raised in glory. It is sown in weakness; it is raised in power. ⁴⁴ It is sown a natural body; it is raised a spiritual body. There is a natural body and there is also a spiritual body.

⁵¹ Look, I tell you a mystery. We will not all sleep, but we will all be changed, ⁵² in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we will be changed.

²¹ who will transform our lowly body into the likeness of his glorious body, according to the power by which he is able even to subject all things to himself.

¹⁴ For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with him those who have fallen asleep in Jesus. ¹⁵ For this we tell you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive, who are left to the coming of the Lord, will in no way precede those who have fallen asleep. ¹⁶ For the Lord himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with God's trumpet. The dead in Christ will rise first,

⁷ Be patient therefore, brothers, until the coming of the Lord. Look, the farmer waits for the precious fruit of the earth, being patient over it, until it receives the early and late rain. ⁸ You also be patient. Establish your hearts, for the coming of the Lord is near.

¹³ The sea gave up the dead who were in it. Death and hell gave up the dead who were in them. They were judged, each one according to his works.
