²⁰ My bones stick to my skin and to my flesh. I have escaped by the skin of my teeth.

⁴ Then Satan answered the LORD, and said, "Skin for skin. Indeed, all that a man has he will give for his life. ⁵ But put forth your hand now, and touch his bone and his flesh, and he will curse you to your face." ⁶ The LORD said to Satan, "Look, he is in your power. Only preserve his life."

⁵ My flesh is clothed with worms and clods of dust. My skin closes up, and breaks out afresh.

³⁰ My skin grows black and peels from me. My bones are burned with heat.

¹⁹ He is chastened also with pain on his bed, with continual strife in his bones; ²⁰ So that his life abhors bread, and his soul choicest food. ²¹ His flesh is so consumed away, that it can't be seen. His bones that were not seen stick out. ²² Yes, his soul draws near to the pit, and his life to the destroyers.

¹⁴ I am poured out like water, and all my bones are out of joint.
