⁴ David sent messengers, and took her; and she came in to him, and he lay with her (for she was purified from her uncleanness); and she returned to her house. ⁵ The woman conceived; and she sent and told David, and said, "I am with child." ⁶ Then David sent to Joab and said, "Send me Uriah the Hethite." So David said to Uriah, "Haven't you come from a journey? Why did you not go down to your house?" ¹¹ Uriah said to David, "The ark, Israel, and Judah, are staying in tents; and my lord Joab, and the servants of my lord, are camped in the open field. Shall I then go into my house to eat and to drink, and to lie with my wife? As the LORD lives, and as you live, I will not do this thing." ¹² David said to Uriah, "Stay here today also, and tomorrow I will let you depart." So Uriah stayed in Jerusalem that day. ¹³ And the next day David summoned him, and he ate and drank in his presence, and he made him drunk. But in the evening he went out and lay on a bed with the servants of his lord, and did not go down to his house.

¹² For you did it secretly, but I will do this thing before all Israel, and before the sun.'"

¹³ You say, 'What does God know? Can he judge through the thick darkness? ¹⁴ Thick clouds are a covering to him, so that he doesn't see. He walks on the vault of the sky.'

¹¹ He says in his heart, "God has forgotten. He hides his face. He will never see it."

¹⁸ When you saw a thief, you consented with him, and have participated with adulterers.

¹¹ They say, "How does God know? Is there knowledge in the Most High?"

⁷ They say, "The LORD will not see, neither will Jacob's God consider."

³² He who commits adultery with a woman is void of understanding. He who does it destroys his own soul. ³³ He will get wounds and dishonor. His reproach will not be wiped away. ³⁴ For jealousy arouses the fury of the husband. He won't spare in the day of vengeance. ³⁵ He won't regard any ransom, neither will he rest content, though you give many gifts.

⁹ in the twilight, in the evening of the day, in the middle of the night and in the darkness. ¹⁰ Look, there a woman met him with the attire of a prostitute, and with crafty intent.

¹² Then he said to me, "Son of man, have you seen what the elders of the house of Israel do in the dark, every man in his rooms of imagery? For they say, 'The LORD doesn't see us. The LORD has forsaken the land.'"

⁹ Then he said to me, "The iniquity of the house of Israel and Judah is exceedingly great, and the land is full of blood, and the city full of perversion: for they say, 'The LORD has forsaken the land, and the LORD doesn't see.'
