¹ Then the LORD answered Job out of the whirlwind, ² "Who is this who darkens counsel by words without knowledge? ³ Brace yourself like a man, for I will question you, then you answer me. ⁴ "Where were you when I laid the foundations of the earth? Declare, if you have understanding. ⁵ Who determined its measures, if you know? Or who stretched the line on it? ⁶ Whereupon were its foundations fastened? Or who laid its cornerstone, ⁷ when the morning stars sang together, and all the sons of God shouted for joy? ⁸ "Or who shut up the sea with doors, when it broke forth from the womb, ⁹ when I made clouds its garment, and wrapped it in thick darkness, ¹⁰ marked out for it my bound, set bars and doors, ¹¹ and said, 'Here you may come, but no further. Here your proud waves shall be stayed?' ¹² "Have you commanded the morning in your days, and caused the dawn to know its place; ¹³ that it might take hold of the farthest parts of the earth, and shake the wicked out of it? ¹⁴ It is changed as clay under the seal, and stands forth as a garment. ¹⁵ From the wicked, their light is withheld. The high arm is broken. ¹⁶ "Have you entered into the springs of the sea? Or have you walked in the recesses of the deep? ¹⁷ Have the gates of death been revealed to you? Or have you seen the gates of the shadow of death? ¹⁸ Have you comprehended the earth in its breadth? Declare, if you know it all. ¹⁹ "What is the way to the dwelling of light? As for darkness, where is its place, ²⁰ that you should take it to its bound, that you should discern the paths to its house? ²¹ Surely you know, for you were born then, and the number of your days is great. ²² Have you entered the treasuries of the snow, or have you seen the treasures of the hail, ²³ which I have reserved against the time of trouble, against the day of battle and war? ²⁴ By what way is the lightning distributed, or the east wind scattered on the earth? ²⁵ Who has cut a channel for the flood water, or the path for the thunderstorm; ²⁶ To cause it to rain on a land where no man is; on the wilderness, in which there is no man; ²⁷ to satisfy the waste and desolate ground, to cause the tender grass to spring forth? ²⁸ Does the rain have a father? Or who fathers the drops of dew? ²⁹ Out of whose womb came the ice? The gray frost of the sky, who has given birth to it? ³⁰ The waters become hard like stone, when the surface of the deep is frozen. ³¹ "Can you fasten the chains of Kimah, or loosen the cords of Kesil? ³² Can you lead forth the Mazzaroth in their season? Or can you lead Aysh with her children? ³³ Do you know the laws of the heavens? Can you establish its dominion over the earth? ³⁴ "Can you lift up your voice to the clouds, That abundance of waters may cover you? ³⁵ Can you send forth lightnings, that they may go? Do they report to you, 'Here we are?' ³⁶ Who has put wisdom in the inward parts? Or who has given understanding to the mind? ³⁷ Who can number the clouds by wisdom? Or who can pour out the bottles of the sky, ³⁸ when the dust runs into a mass, and the clods of earth stick together? ³⁹ "Can you hunt the prey for the lioness, or satisfy the appetite of the young lions, ⁴⁰ when they crouch in their dens, and lie in wait in the thicket? ⁴¹ Who provides for the raven his prey, when his young ones cry to God, and wander for lack of food?

¹⁶ It happened on the third day, when it was morning, that there were thunders and lightnings, and a thick cloud on the mountain, and the sound of an exceedingly loud trumpet; and all the people who were in the camp trembled. ¹⁷ Moses led the people out of the camp to meet God; and they stood at the lower part of the mountain. ¹⁸ And Mount Sinai was wrapped in smoke because God descended on it in fire; and its smoke ascended like the smoke of a furnace, and the whole mountain quaked greatly. ¹⁹ When the sound of the trumpet grew louder and louder, Moses spoke, and God answered him by a voice.

¹¹ You came near and stood under the mountain; and the mountain burned with fire to the heart of the sky, with darkness, cloud, and thick darkness. ¹² The LORD spoke to you out of the midst of the fire: you heard the voice of words, but you saw no form; you only heard a voice.

²² These words the LORD spoke to all your assembly on the mountain out of the midst of the fire, of the cloud, and of the thick darkness, with a great voice; and he added no more. And he wrote them on two tablets of stone, and gave them to me. ²³ It happened, when you heard the voice out of the midst of the darkness, while the mountain was burning with fire, that you came near to me, even all the heads of your tribes, and your elders; ²⁴ and you said, "Look, the LORD our God has shown us his glory and his greatness, and we have heard his voice out of the midst of the fire: we have seen this day that God does speak with man, and he lives.

¹¹ And he said, "Go out tomorrow and stand on the mountain before the LORD." Look, the LORD passed by, and a great and strong wind tore the mountains, and broke in pieces the rocks before the LORD; but the LORD was not in the wind. After the wind an earthquake; but the LORD was not in the earthquake.

¹ It happened, when the LORD would take up Elijah by a whirlwind into heaven, that Elijah went with Elisha from Gilgal.

¹¹ It happened, as they still went on, and talked, that look, a chariot of fire and horses of fire separated them; and Elijah went up by a whirlwind into heaven.

¹ "Yes, at this my heart trembles, and is moved out of its place. ² Hear, oh, hear the noise of his voice, the sound that goes out of his mouth.

⁹ Out of its chamber comes the storm, and cold out of the north.

¹⁴ "Listen to this, Job. Stand still, and consider the wondrous works of God.

⁶ Then the LORD answered Job out of the whirlwind,

⁴ I looked, and look, a stormy wind came out of the north, a great cloud, with flashing lightning, and a brightness around it, and out of its midst as it were glowing metal, out of the midst of the fire.

³ The LORD is slow to anger, and great in power, and will by no means leave the guilty unpunished. The LORD has his way in the whirlwind and in the storm, and the clouds are the dust of his feet.

³ But I have understanding as well as you; I am not inferior to you. Yes, who doesn't know such things as these?

⁴ I would set my cause in order before him, and fill my mouth with arguments. ⁵ I would know the words which he would answer me, and understand what he would tell me.

²⁵ If it isn't so now, who will prove me a liar, and make my speech worth nothing?"

³ How have you counseled him who has no wisdom, and plentifully declared sound knowledge.

¹¹ I will teach you about the hand of God. That which is with Shaddai will I not conceal.

³⁵ 'Job speaks without knowledge. His words are without wisdom.'

¹⁶ Therefore Job opens his mouth with empty talk, and he multiplies words without knowledge."

³ You asked, 'Who is this who hides counsel without knowledge?' therefore I have uttered that which I did not understand, things too wonderful for me, which I did not know.

⁷ desiring to be teachers of the law, though they understand neither what they say, nor about what they strongly affirm.

¹¹ This is how you shall eat it: with your waist girded, your shoes on your feet, and your staff in your hand; and you shall eat it in haste: it is the LORD's Passover.

⁴⁶ The hand of the LORD was on Elijah; and he tucked his cloak into his belt and ran before Ahab to the entrance of Jezreel.

¹⁵ Look, he will kill me. I have no hope. Nevertheless, I will maintain my ways before him.

²² Then call, and I will answer; or let me speak, and you answer me.

³ Oh that I knew where I might find him. That I might come even to his seat. ⁴ I would set my cause in order before him, and fill my mouth with arguments. ⁵ I would know the words which he would answer me, and understand what he would tell me. ⁶ Would he contend with me in the greatness of his power? No, but he would listen to me. ⁷ There the upright might reason with him, so I should be delivered forever from my judge.

³⁵ oh that I had one to hear me. (look, here is my signature, let Shaddai answer me); let the accuser write my indictment. ³⁶ Surely I would carry it on my shoulder; and I would bind it to me as a crown. ³⁷ I would declare to him the number of my steps; as a prince would I go near to him.

⁷ "Now brace yourself like a man. I will question you, and you will answer me.

¹⁷ "You therefore put your belt on your waist, arise, and speak to them all that I command you. Do not be dismayed at them, lest I dismay you before them.

¹³ Therefore, prepare your minds for action, be sober and set your hope fully on the grace that will be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ.

¹ In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.

²⁵ In the beginning, LORD, you established the foundation of the earth. The heavens are the works of your hands.

⁵ He laid the foundations of the earth, that it should not be moved forever and ever.

²² "The LORD created me in the beginning of his way, before his works of old.

²⁹ when he gave to the sea its boundary, that the waters should not violate his commandment, when he marked out the foundations of the earth; ³⁰ then I was the craftsman by his side. I was a delight day by day, always rejoicing before him,

⁴ Who has ascended up into heaven, and descended? Who has gathered the wind in his fists? Who has bound the waters in his garment? Who has established every part of the earth? What is his name, and what is his son's name, if you know?

² in these last days has spoken to us by a Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, through whom also he made the ages.

¹⁰ And, "In the beginning, Lord, you established the foundation of the earth. The heavens are the works of your hands.

⁹ Its measure is longer than the earth, and broader than the sea.

²⁵ He establishes the force of the wind. Yes, he measures out the waters by measure.

⁴ Their voice has gone out to all the earth, their words to the farthest part of the world. In them he has set a tent for the sun,

⁵⁵ He also drove out the nations before them, allotted them for an inheritance by line, and made the tribes of Israel to dwell in their tents.

²⁷ When he established the heavens, I was there; when he set a circle on the surface of the deep,

²⁹ when he gave to the sea its boundary, that the waters should not violate his commandment, when he marked out the foundations of the earth;

¹¹ But the pelican and the porcupine will possess it. The owl and the raven will dwell in it. He will stretch the line of confusion over it, and the plumb line of emptiness.

¹² Who has measured the waters in the hollow of his hand, and marked off the sky with his span, and calculated the dust of the earth in a measure, and weighed the mountains in scales, and the hills in a balance?

²² It is he who sits above the circle of the earth, and its inhabitants are like grasshoppers; who stretches out the heavens like a curtain, and spreads them out like a tent to dwell in;

¹ I lifted up my eyes, and saw, and look, a man with a measuring line in his hand. ² Then I asked, "Where are you going?" He said to me, "To measure Jerusalem, to see what is its breadth and what is its length."

¹⁶ so as to proclaim the Good News even to the regions beyond you, not to boast in what someone else has already done.

¹⁸ You shall make the boards for the tabernacle, twenty boards for the south side southward. ¹⁹ You shall make forty sockets of silver under the twenty boards; two sockets under one board for its two tenons, and two sockets under another board for its two tenons. ²⁰ For the second side of the tabernacle, on the north side, twenty boards, ²¹ and their forty sockets of silver; two sockets under one board, and two sockets under another board. ²² For the far part of the tabernacle westward you shall make six boards. ²³ You shall make two boards for the corners of the tabernacle in the far part. ²⁴ They shall be double beneath, and in like manner they shall be entire to its top to one ring: thus shall it be for them both; they shall be for the two corners. ²⁵ There shall be eight boards, and their sockets of silver, sixteen sockets; two sockets under one board, and two sockets under another board.

⁸ He raises up the poor out of the dust. He lifts up the needy from the dunghill, To make them sit with princes, and inherit the throne of glory. For the pillars of the earth are the LORD's. He has set the world on them.

⁷ He stretches out the north over empty space, and hangs the earth on nothing.

² For he has founded it on the seas, and established it on the floods.

¹ The LORD reigns. He is clothed with majesty. The LORD is armed with strength. The world also is established. It can't be moved.

²² The stone which the builders rejected has become the cornerstone.

¹² Then our sons will be like well-nurtured plants, our daughters like pillars carved to adorn a palace.

¹⁶ Therefore thus says the LORD, "Look, I am laying in Zion for a foundation a stone, a tested stone, a precious cornerstone for a sure foundation, and the one who believes in him will not be put to shame.

¹ An oracle. The word of the LORD concerning Israel. The LORD, who stretches out the heavens, and lays the foundation of the earth, and forms the spirit of man within him says:

²⁰ being built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Christ Jesus himself being the chief cornerstone; ²¹ in whom the whole building, fitted together, grows into a holy temple in the Lord;

⁵ For this they willfully forget, that there were heavens from of old, and an earth formed out of water and amid water, by the word of God;

¹¹ They sang to one another in praising and giving thanks to the LORD, "For he is good, for his loving kindness endures forever toward Israel." All the people shouted with a great shout, when they praised the LORD, because the foundation of the house of the LORD had been laid. ¹² But many of the priests and Levites and heads of ancestral houses, the old men who had seen the first house, when the foundation of this house was laid before their eyes, wept with a loud voice. Many also shouted aloud for joy,

⁶ Now it happened on the day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the LORD, that Satan also came among them.

¹ Again it happened on the day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the LORD, that Satan came also among them to present himself before the LORD.

⁴ He makes his angels winds, and his servants flames of fire.

⁷ Who are you, great mountain? Before Zerubbabel you are a plain; and he will bring out the capstone with shouts of 'Grace, grace, to it.'"

²⁸ and I will give him the morning star.

¹¹ I saw, and I heard the voice of many angels around the throne, the living creatures, and the elders; and the number of them was ten thousands of ten thousands, and thousands of thousands;

¹⁶ I, Jesus, have sent my angel to testify these things to you for the churches. I am the root and the offspring of David; the bright morning star."

⁹ And God said, "Let the waters under the sky be gathered to one gathering, and let the dry land appear." And it was so. And the waters under the sky gathered to their gatherings, and the dry land appeared.

¹⁰ marked out for it my bound, set bars and doors,

⁷ He gathers the waters of the sea together as a heap. He lays up the deeps in storehouses.

⁸ The mountains rose, the valleys sank down, to the place which you had assigned to them. ⁹ You have set a boundary that they may not pass over; that they do not turn again to cover the earth.

²² Do you not fear me?' says the LORD 'Won't you tremble at my presence, who have placed the sand for the bound of the sea, by a perpetual decree, that it can't pass it? And though its waves toss themselves, yet they can't prevail; though they roar, yet they can't pass over it.'

² Now the earth was formless and empty, and darkness was on the surface of the watery depths. And God's Spirit was hovering over the surface of the waters.

⁹ And God said, "Let the waters under the sky be gathered to one gathering, and let the dry land appear." And it was so. And the waters under the sky gathered to their gatherings, and the dry land appeared. ¹⁰ And God called the dry land Earth, and the gatherings of the waters he called Seas. And God saw that it was good.

¹⁵ and I will remember my covenant, which is between me and you and every living creature of all flesh, and the waters will no more become a flood to destroy all flesh.

¹⁰ He has described a boundary on the surface of the waters, and to the confines of light and darkness.

⁹ You have set a boundary that they may not pass over; that they do not turn again to cover the earth.

²² In all this, Job did not sin, nor charge God with wrongdoing.

⁶ The LORD said to Satan, "Look, he is in your power. Only preserve his life."

⁶ Who by his power forms the mountains, having armed yourself with strength; ⁷ who stills the roaring of the seas, the roaring of their waves, and the turmoil of the nations.

¹⁰ Surely the wrath of man praises you. The survivors of your wrath are restrained.

⁹ You rule the pride of the sea. When its waves rise up, you calm them.

³ The floods have lifted up, LORD, the floods have lifted up their voice. The floods lift up their waves. ⁴ More majestic than the sounds of many waters, more majestic than the breakers of the sea, the LORD on high is majestic.

⁸ In measure, when you send them away, you contend with them. He has removed them with his rough blast in the day of the east wind.

³⁹ And he awoke, and rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, "Peace. Be still." And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm. ⁴⁰ And he said to them, "Why are you so afraid? Do you still have no faith?" ⁴¹ And they were greatly afraid, and said to one another, "Who then is this, that even the wind and the sea obey him?"

³² Now there was there a herd of many pigs feeding on the mountain, and they begged him that he would allow them to enter into those. He allowed them. ³³ The demons came out from the man, and entered into the pigs, and the herd rushed down the steep bank into the lake, and were drowned.

² He seized the serpent, the ancient snake, which is the devil and Satan, and bound him for a thousand years, ³ and cast him into the abyss, and shut it, and sealed it over him, that he should deceive the nations no more, until the thousand years were finished. After this, he must be freed for a short time.

⁷ And after the thousand years, Satan will be released from his prison, ⁸ and he will come out to deceive the nations which are in the four quarters of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them together to the war; the number of whom is as the sand of the sea.

⁵ And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. There was evening and there was morning, one day.

⁹ (For we are but of yesterday, and know nothing, because our days on earth are a shadow.)

⁷ "Are you the first man who was born? Or were you brought forth before the hills?

⁴ "Where were you when I laid the foundations of the earth? Declare, if you have understanding.

²¹ Surely you know, for you were born then, and the number of your days is great.

¹⁶ The day is yours, the night is also yours. You have prepared the light and the sun.

⁷ To him who made the great lights; for his loving kindness endures forever: ⁸ The sun to rule by day; for his loving kindness endures forever;

³ Praise him, sun and moon. Praise him, all you shining stars. ⁴ Praise him, you heavens of heavens, You waters that are above the heavens. ⁵ Let them praise the name of the LORD, For he commanded, and they were created.

⁷⁸ because of the tender mercy of our God, whereby the dawn from on high will visit us,

¹⁹ We have the more sure word of prophecy; and you do well that you heed it, as to a lamp shining in a dark place, until the day dawns, and the morning star arises in your hearts:

²⁷ Moses stretched out his hand over the sea, and the sea returned to its strength when the morning appeared; and the Egyptians fled against it. The LORD overthrew the Egyptians in the midst of the sea.

¹³ "These are of those who rebel against the light. They do not know its ways, nor abide in its paths. ¹⁴ The murderer rises with the light. He kills the poor and needy. In the night he is like a thief. ¹⁵ The eye also of the adulterer waits for the twilight, saying, 'No eye shall see me.' He disguises his face. ¹⁶ In the dark they dig through houses. They shut themselves up in the daytime. They do not know the light. ¹⁷ For the morning is to all of them like thick darkness, for they know the terrors of the thick darkness.

³ He sends it forth under the whole sky, and his lightning to the farthest parts of the earth.

⁴ Their voice has gone out to all the earth, their words to the farthest part of the world. In them he has set a tent for the sun, ⁵ which is as a bridegroom coming out of his chamber, like a strong man rejoicing to run his course. ⁶ His going forth is from the end of the heavens, his circuit to its ends; There is nothing hidden from its heat.

²¹ The young lions roar after their prey, and seek their food from God. ²² The sun rises, and they steal away, and lie down in their dens.

³⁵ Let sinners be consumed out of the earth. Let the wicked be no more. Bless the LORD, my soul. Praise the LORD.

⁹ If I take the wings of the dawn, and settle in the uttermost parts of the sea; ¹⁰ Even there your hand will lead me, and your right hand will hold me. ¹¹ If I say, "Surely the darkness will overwhelm me; the light around me will be night;" ¹² even the darkness doesn't hide from you, but the night shines as the day. The darkness is like light to you.

² He covers himself with light as with a garment. He stretches out the heavens like a curtain.

⁶ You covered it with the deep as with a cloak. The waters stood above the mountains.

²¹ The LORD said to Moses, "Stretch out your hand toward the sky, that there may be darkness over the land of Egypt, even darkness which may be felt." ²² Moses stretched forth his hand toward the sky, and there was a thick darkness in all the land of Egypt three days. ²³ They did not see one another, neither did anyone rise from his place for three days; but all the children of Israel had light in their dwellings.

¹⁸ When they came down to him, Elisha prayed to the LORD, and said, "Please strike this people with blindness." He struck them with blindness according to the word of Elisha.

¹⁴ They meet with darkness in the day time, and grope at noonday as in the night.

⁵ "Yes, the light of the wicked shall be put out, The spark of his fire shall not shine.

¹⁸ He shall be driven from light into darkness, and chased out of the world.

¹⁵ Break the arm of the wicked. As for the evil man, seek out his wickedness until you find none.

¹⁷ For the arms of the wicked shall be broken, but the LORD upholds the righteous.

¹⁹ The way of the wicked is like darkness. They do not know what they stumble over.

²¹ They will pass through it, greatly distressed and hungry; and it will happen that when they are hungry, they will worry, and curse by their king and by their God. They will turn their faces upward, ²² and look to the earth, and see distress, darkness, and the gloom of anguish. They will be driven into thick darkness.

¹⁶ Give glory to the LORD your God, before he causes darkness, and before your feet stumble on the dark mountains, and, while you look for light, he turns it into the shadow of death, and makes it gross darkness.

²² Therefore thus says the Lord GOD: 'Look, I am against Pharaoh king of Egypt, and will break his arms, the strong arm, and that which was broken; and I will cause the sword to fall out of his hand.

¹⁰ and said, "Full of all deceit and all fraud, you son of the devil, you enemy of all righteousness, will you not cease to pervert the right ways of the Lord? ¹¹ Now, look, the hand of the Lord is on you, and you will be blind, unable to see the sun for a time." Immediately a mist and darkness fell on him. He went around seeking someone to lead him by the hand.

⁵ "Those who are deceased tremble, those beneath the waters and all that live in them. ⁶ Sheol is naked before him, and Abaddon has no covering.

¹⁹ Your way was through the sea; your paths through the great waters. Your footsteps were not known.

²⁴ When there were no depths, I was brought forth, when there were no springs abounding with water.

³⁶ Therefore thus says the LORD: "Look, I will plead your cause, and take vengeance for you; and I will dry up her sea, and make her fountain dry.

⁵ Let darkness and the shadow of death claim it for their own. Let a cloud dwell on it. Let the blackness of the day terrify it.

²² He uncovers deep things out of darkness, and brings out to light the shadow of death.

¹³ Have mercy on me, LORD. See my affliction by those who hate me. You lift me up from the gates of death,

⁴ Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me. Your rod and your staff, they comfort me.

¹⁰ Some sat in darkness and in the shadow of death, being bound in affliction and iron,

¹⁴ He brought them out of darkness and the shadow of death, and broke their bonds in sunder.

¹⁸ Their soul abhors all kinds of food. They draw near to the gates of death.

³ The cords of death surrounded me, the pains of Sheol got a hold of me. I found trouble and sorrow.

⁸ seek him who made Kimah and Kesil, and turns the shadow of death into the morning, and makes the day dark with night; who calls for the waters of the sea, and pours them out on the surface of the earth, the LORD is his name,

¹⁶ The people sitting in darkness have seen a great light, and those living in the land and shadow of death, on them a light has dawned."

²⁴ For he looks to the farthest parts of the earth, and sees under the whole sky.

¹⁷ You have set all the boundaries of the earth. You have made summer and winter.

¹¹ The heavens are yours. The earth also is yours; the world and its fullness. You have founded them. ¹² The north and the south, you have created them. Tabor and Hermon rejoice in your name.

²⁸ And now, haven't you known? Haven't you heard? The everlasting God, the LORD, the Creator of the farthest parts of the earth, doesn't faint. He isn't weary. His understanding is unsearchable.

³⁷ Thus says the LORD: "If heaven above can be measured, and the foundations of the earth searched out beneath, then will I also cast off all the descendants of Israel for all that they have done," says the LORD.

⁹ They went up over the breadth of the earth, and surrounded the camp of the saints, and the beloved city, and fire came down out of heaven and devoured them.

³ And God said, "Let there be light," and there was light. ⁴ And God saw that the light was good. And God separated the light from the darkness.

¹⁴ And God said, "Let there be lights in the expanse of the sky for the illumination of the day, to give light on the earth, and to rule the day and the night, and to separate between the day and the night. And let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and for years; ¹⁵ and let them be for lights in the expanse of the sky to give light on the earth." And it was so. ¹⁶ And God made the two great lights—the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night—and the stars. ¹⁷ And God set them in the expanse of the sky to shine on the earth, ¹⁸ and to rule over the day and over the night, and to separate the light from the darkness. And God saw that it was good.

¹⁹ and lest you lift up your eyes to the sky, and when you see the sun and the moon and the stars, even all the host of heaven, you are drawn away and worship them, and serve them, which the LORD your God has allotted to all the peoples under the whole sky.

¹¹ He made darkness his hiding place, his canopy around him thick clouds dark with water.

²⁰ You make darkness, and it is night, in which all the animals of the forest prowl.

²⁸ He sent darkness, and made it dark, but they rebelled against his words.

⁷ I form the light, and create darkness. I make peace, and create calamity. I am the LORD, who does all these things.

⁸ All the bright lights of the sky will I make dark over you, and set darkness on your land, says the Lord GOD.

¹³ For, look, he who forms the mountains, and creates the wind, and declares to man what is his thought; who makes the morning darkness, and treads on the high places of the earth: The LORD, the God of hosts, is his name."

⁴⁵ Now from noon until three in the afternoon there was darkness over all the land.

⁹ The true light that enlightens everyone was coming into the world.

¹² Again, therefore, Jesus spoke to them, saying, "I am the light of the world. He who follows me will not walk in the darkness, but will have the light of life."

¹⁹ And the border of the Canaanites was from Sidon, as you go toward Gerar, to Gaza; as you go toward Sodom, and Gomorrah, and Admah, and Zeboiim, to Lasha.

¹⁷ So the field of Ephron, which was in Machpelah, which was before Mamre, the field, the cave which was in it, and all the trees that were in the field, that were in all of its borders, were deeded

¹² "Have you commanded the morning in your days, and caused the dawn to know its place;

¹⁶ Which are black by reason of the ice, in which the snow hides itself.

⁶ For he says to the snow, 'Fall on the earth;' likewise to the shower of rain, and to the showers of his mighty rain.

⁷ who causes the clouds to rise from the farthest parts of the earth; who makes lightnings with the rain; who brings forth the wind out of his treasuries;

¹⁸ Look, tomorrow about this time I will cause it to rain a very grievous hail, such as has not been in Egypt since the day it was founded even until now.

²⁴ So there was very severe hail, and fire mixed with the hail, such as had not been in all the land of Egypt since it became a nation.

¹¹ And it happened, as they fled from before the children of Israel while they were at the descent of Beth Horon, that the LORD cast down stones from the sky on them as far as Azekah, and they died. There were more who died from the hailstones than who the children of Israel killed with the sword.

¹³ "But those who are godless in heart lay up anger. They do not cry for help when he binds them.

³¹ For by these he judges the people. He gives food in abundance.

³⁰ The LORD will cause his glorious voice to be heard, and will show the descent of his arm, with the indignation of his anger, and the flame of a devouring fire, with a blast, storm, and hailstones.

¹¹ tell those who plaster it with whitewash, that it shall fall: there shall be an overflowing shower; and you, great hailstones, shall fall; and a stormy wind break out. ¹² Look, when the wall has fallen, shall it not be said to you, 'Where is the plaster with which you have plastered it?' ¹³ "'"Therefore thus says the Lord GOD: I will even tear it with a stormy wind in my wrath; and there shall be an overflowing shower in my anger, and great hailstones in wrath to consume it.

²⁷ And the rain came down, the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat on that house; and it fell—and great was its fall."

²¹ Great hailstones, about one hundred pounds each, came down out of the sky on people. People blasphemed God because of the plague of the hail, for this plague is exceedingly severe.

⁸ It happened, when the sun arose, that God prepared a sultry east wind; and the sun beat on Jonah's head, so that he fainted, and requested for himself that he might die, and said, "It is better for me to die than to live."

²⁷ For as the lightning flashes from the east, and is seen even to the west, so will be the coming of the Son of Man.

²⁶ When he made a decree for the rain, and a way for the lightning of the thunder;

²⁷ For he draws up the drops of water, which distill in rain from his vapor, ²⁸ Which the skies pour down and which drop on humankind abundantly.

³ He sends it forth under the whole sky, and his lightning to the farthest parts of the earth. ⁴ After it a voice roars. He thunders with the voice of his majesty. He doesn't hold back anything when his voice is heard. ⁵ God thunders marvelously with his voice. He does great things, which we can't comprehend. ⁶ For he says to the snow, 'Fall on the earth;' likewise to the shower of rain, and to the showers of his mighty rain.

³ The voice of the LORD is on the waters. The God of glory thunders, even the LORD on many waters. ⁴ The voice of the LORD is powerful. The voice of the LORD is full of majesty. ⁵ The voice of the LORD breaks the cedars. Yes, the LORD breaks in pieces the cedars of Lebanon. ⁶ He makes them also to skip like a calf; Lebanon and Sirion like a young, wild ox. ⁷ The voice of the LORD strikes with flashes of lightning. ⁸ The voice of the LORD shakes the wilderness. The LORD shakes the wilderness of Kadesh. ⁹ The voice of the LORD makes the large trees tremble, and strips the forests bare. In his temple everything says, "Glory." ¹⁰ The LORD sat enthroned at the Flood. Yes, the LORD sits as King forever.

²⁷ For he draws up the drops of water, which distill in rain from his vapor,

¹⁰ He sends forth springs into the valleys. They run among the mountains. ¹¹ They give drink to every animal of the field. The wild donkeys quench their thirst. ¹² The birds of the sky nest by them; among the branches they give forth a sound. ¹³ He waters the mountains from his chambers. The earth is filled with the fruit of your works. ¹⁴ He causes the grass to grow for the livestock, and plants for man to cultivate, that he may bring forth food out of the earth:

³⁵ He turns a desert into a pool of water, and a dry land into water springs.

⁸ who covers the sky with clouds, who prepares rain for the earth, who makes grass grow on the mountains. ⁹ He provides food for the livestock, and for the young ravens when they call.

¹ The wilderness and the dry land will be glad. The desert will rejoice and blossom like the crocus. ² It will blossom abundantly, and rejoice even with joy and singing. Lebanon's glory Lebanon will be given to it, the excellence of Carmel and Sharon. They will see the LORD's glory, the excellence of our God.

¹⁸ I will open rivers on the bare heights, and springs in the midst of the valleys. I will make the wilderness a pool of water, and the dry land springs of water. ¹⁹ I will put cedar, acacia, myrtle, and oil trees in the wilderness. I will set fir trees, pine, and box trees together in the desert;

¹⁹ Look, I will do a new thing. It springs forth now. Do you not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert. ²⁰ The animals of the field shall honor me, the jackals and the ostriches; because I give water in the wilderness and rivers in the desert, to give drink to my people, my chosen,

²² Are there any among the vanities of the nations that can cause rain? Or can the sky give showers? Aren't you he, LORD our God? Therefore we will wait for you; for you have made all these things."

⁷ For the land which has drunk the rain that comes often on it, and brings forth a crop suitable for them for whose sake it is also tilled, receives blessing from God; ⁸ but if it bears thorns and thistles, it is rejected and near being cursed, whose end is to be burned.

¹⁴ He causes the grass to grow for the livestock, and plants for man to cultivate, that he may bring forth food out of the earth:

²⁸ God give you of the dew of the sky, of the fatness of the earth, and plenty of grain and new wine.

³⁹ Isaac his father answered him, "Look, of the fatness of the earth will be your dwelling, and of the dew of the sky from above.

¹³ Of Joseph he said, "His land is blessed by the LORD, for the precious things of the heavens, for the dew, for the deep that couches beneath,

²⁸ Israel dwells in safety; the fountain of Jacob alone, In a land of grain and new wine. Yes, his heavens drop down dew.

¹⁷ Isn't it wheat harvest today? I will call to the LORD, that he may send thunder and rain; and you shall know and see that your wickedness is great, which you have done in the sight of the LORD, in asking for a king." ¹⁸ So Samuel called to the LORD; and the LORD sent thunder and rain that day: and all the people greatly feared the LORD and Samuel.

²¹ You mountains of Gilboa, let there be no dew nor rain on you, nor fields of offerings. For there the shield of the mighty was vilely cast away. The shield of Saul was not anointed with oil.

¹ And Elijah the Tishbite, of the inhabitants of Gilead, said to Ahab, "As the LORD, the God of Israel, lives, before whom I stand, there shall not be dew nor rain these years, except by my word."

⁹ who does great things that can't be fathomed, marvelous things without number; ¹⁰ who gives rain on the earth, and sends waters on the fields;

¹⁹ My root is spread out to the waters. The dew lies all night on my branch.

⁸ "Or who shut up the sea with doors, when it broke forth from the womb,

⁹ You visit the earth, and water it. You greatly enrich it. The river of God is full of water. You provide them grain, for so you have ordained it. ¹⁰ You drench its furrows. You level its ridges. You soften it with showers. You bless it with a crop.

⁸ who covers the sky with clouds, who prepares rain for the earth, who makes grass grow on the mountains.

²⁰ By his knowledge, the depths were broken up, and the skies drop down the dew.

²⁴ Neither do they say in their heart, 'Let us now fear the LORD our God, who gives rain, both the former and the latter, in its season; who preserves to us the appointed weeks of the harvest.'

¹³ when he utters his voice, there is a tumult of waters in the heavens, and he causes the vapors to ascend from the farthest parts of the earth; he makes lightnings for the rain, and brings forth the wind out of his treasuries.

⁵ I will be like the dew to Israel. He will blossom like the lily, and send down his roots like Lebanon.

²³ "Be glad then, you people of Zion, and rejoice in the LORD, your God; for he gives you the former rain in just measure, and he causes the rain to come down for you, the former rain and the latter rain, as before.

⁷ "I also have withheld the rain from you, when there were yet three months to the harvest; and I caused it to rain on one city, and caused it not to rain on another city. One place was rained on, and the piece where it did not rain withered.

⁴⁵ that you may be children of your Father who is in heaven. For he makes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the just and the unjust.

¹⁰ By the breath of God, ice is given, and the breadth of the waters is frozen.

¹⁶ He gives snow like wool, and scatters frost like ashes. ¹⁷ He hurls down his hail like pebbles. Who can stand before his cold?

⁹ He makes Osh, Kesil, and Kimah, and the chambers of the south.

⁵ He put down the idolatrous priests, whom the kings of Judah had ordained to burn incense in the high places in the cities of Judah, and in the places around Jerusalem; those also who burned incense to Baal, to the sun, and to the moon, and to the planets, and to all the host of heaven.

³¹ "Can you fasten the chains of Kimah, or loosen the cords of Kesil?

¹⁶ And God made the two great lights—the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night—and the stars.

²² While the earth remains, seed time and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease."

⁹⁰ Your faithfulness is to all generations. You have established the earth, and it remains. ⁹¹ Your laws remain to this day, for all things serve you.

⁶ He has also established them forever and ever. He has made a decree which will not pass away.

³⁵ Thus says the LORD, who gives the sun for a light by day, and the ordinances of the moon and of the stars for a light by night, who stirs up the sea, so that its waves roar; the LORD of hosts is his name: ³⁶ "If this fixed order departs from before me," says the LORD, "then the descendants of Israel also shall cease from being a nation before me forever."

²⁵ Thus says the LORD: 'If my covenant of day and night fails, if I have not appointed the ordinances of heaven and earth;

¹⁸ So Samuel called to the LORD; and the LORD sent thunder and rain that day: and all the people greatly feared the LORD and Samuel.

¹¹ or darkness, so that you can not see, and floods of waters cover you.

¹ Ask of the LORD rain in the spring time, The LORD who makes lightnings, and he gives rain showers to everyone for the plants in the field.

¹⁸ He prayed again, and the sky gave rain, and the earth brought forth its fruit.

²³ Moses stretched forth his rod toward the heavens, and the LORD sent thunder, and hail, and fire fell to the earth. The LORD rained hail on the land of Egypt. ²⁴ So there was very severe hail, and fire mixed with the hail, such as had not been in all the land of Egypt since it became a nation. ²⁵ The hail struck throughout all the land of Egypt all that was in the field, both man and animal; and the hail struck every plant of the field, and broke every tree of the field.

²⁹ Moses said to him, "As soon as I have gone out of the city, I will spread abroad my hands to the LORD. The thunders shall cease, neither shall there be any more hail; that you may know that the earth is the LORD's.

² And fire came forth from before the LORD, and devoured them, and they died before the LORD.

¹ The people were complaining in the ears of the LORD. When the LORD heard it, his anger was kindled; and the LORD's fire burnt among them, and consumed some of the outskirts of the camp.

³⁵ Fire came forth from the LORD, and devoured the two hundred fifty men who offered the incense.

¹² Saul said, "Hear now, you son of Ahitub." He answered, "Here I am, my lord."

¹⁰ Elijah answered to the captain of fifty, "If I am a man of God, let fire come down from the sky, and consume you and your fifty." Fire came down from the sky, and consumed him and his fifty.

¹⁴ Look, fire came down from the sky, and consumed the two former captains of fifty with their fifties. But now let my life be precious in your sight."

³² He covers his hands with the lightning, and commands it to strike the mark.

⁸ I heard the Lord's voice, saying, "Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?" Then I said, "Here I am. Send me."

¹ "I have shown myself to those who did not ask for me. I was found by those who did not seek me. I said, 'Here I am. Here I am.' to a nation that did not call on my name.

⁵ If anyone desires to harm them, fire proceeds out of their mouth and devours their enemies. If anyone desires to harm them, he must be killed in this way. ⁶ These have the power to shut up the sky, that it may not rain during the days of their prophecy. They have power over the waters, to turn them into blood, and to strike the earth with every plague, as often as they desire.

³ and I have filled him with the Spirit of God, in wisdom, and in understanding, and in knowledge, and in all manner of workmanship,

¹ "Bezalel and Oholiab shall work with every wise-hearted man, in whom the LORD has put wisdom and understanding to know how to work all the work for the service of the sanctuary, according to all that the LORD has commanded." ² Moses called Bezalel and Oholiab, and every wise-hearted man, in whose heart God had put wisdom, even everyone whose heart stirred him up to come to the work to do it:

⁴ For he is wise in heart, and mighty in strength: who has hardened himself against him, and prospered?

⁸ But there is a spirit in man, and the breath of Shaddai gives them understanding.

⁶ Look, you desire truth in the inward parts. You teach me wisdom in the inmost place.

⁶ For the LORD gives wisdom. Out of his mouth comes knowledge and understanding.

²⁶ For to the man who pleases him, God gives wisdom, knowledge, and joy; but to the sinner he gives travail, to gather and to heap up, that he may give to him who pleases God. This also is vanity and a chasing after wind.

²⁶ For his God instructs him in right judgment, and teaches him.

⁵ But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all generously and without finding fault; and it will be given to him.

¹⁷ All generous giving and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom can be no variation, nor turning shadow.

¹ And God remembered Noah, and all the wild animals, and all the tame animals, and all the flying creatures, and all the crawling creatures that were with him in the vessel; and God made a wind to pass over the earth, and the waters began to recede.

⁵ And he brought him outside, and said, "Look now toward the sky, and count the stars, if you are able to count them." And he said to him, "So will your descendants be."

⁴ He counts the number of the stars. He calls them all by their names.

¹⁰ The roaring of the lion, and the voice of the fierce lion, the teeth of the young lions, are broken. ¹¹ The old lion perishes for lack of prey. The cubs of the lioness are scattered abroad.

¹⁰ The young lions do lack, and suffer hunger, but those who seek the LORD shall not lack any good thing.

²¹ The young lions roar after their prey, and seek their food from God.

¹⁵ The eyes of all wait for you. You give them their food in due season. ¹⁶ You yourself open your hand and satisfy the desire of every living thing.

⁹ Judah is a lionʼs cub. From the prey, my son, you rise up. Like a lion he crouches and lies down, as a lioness. Who will rouse him up?

²⁴ Look, the people rises up as a lioness, as a lion he lifts himself up. He shall not lie down until he eat of the prey, and drinks the blood of the slain."

⁹ He couched, he lay down as a lion, as a lioness; who shall rouse him up? Everyone who blesses you is blessed. Everyone who curses you is cursed."

⁸ Then the animals take cover, and remain in their dens.

²⁷ All of them look to you to give them their food at the proper time. ²⁸ You give to them; they gather. You open your hand; they are satisfied with good.

⁹ He provides food for the livestock, and for the young ravens when they call.

²⁶ See the birds of the sky, that they do not sow, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns, and your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of much more value than they?

²⁴ Consider the ravens: they do not sow, they do not reap, they have no warehouse or barn, and God feeds them. How much more valuable are you than birds.
