¹⁴ And Jesus, having found a young donkey, sat on it. As it is written,

⁹ Rejoice greatly, daughter of Zion. Shout, daughter of Jerusalem. Look, your king comes to you. He is righteous, and having salvation; lowly, and riding on a donkey, even on a colt, the foal of a donkey.

¹ When they drew near to Jerusalem, and came to Bethphage, to the Mount of Olives, then Jesus sent two disciples, ² saying to them, "Go into the village that is opposite you, and immediately you will find a donkey tied, and a colt with her. Untie them, and bring them to me. ³ And if anyone says anything to you, you are to say, 'Because the Lord needs them,' and he will send them at once." ⁴ This took place that it might be fulfilled which was spoken through the prophet, saying, ⁵ Say to the daughter of Zion, "Look, your King comes to you, humble, and riding on a donkey, on a colt, the foal of a donkey." ⁶ The disciples went, and did just as Jesus directed them, ⁷ and brought the donkey and the colt, and placed their clothes on them; and he sat on them.

Immediately as you enter into it, you will find a young donkey tied, on which no one has yet sat. Untie him, and bring him. ³ If anyone asks you, 'Why are you doing this?' say, 'Because the Lord needs it,' and he will send it back here at once." ⁴ They went away, and found a colt tied at the door outside in the open street, and they untied him. ⁵ Some of those who stood there asked them, "What are you doing, untying the young donkey?" ⁶ They said to them just as Jesus had said, and they let them go. ⁷ They brought the young donkey to Jesus, and threw their garments on it, and Jesus sat on it.

²⁹ It happened, when he drew near to Bethphage and Bethany, at the mountain that is called Olivet, he sent two of the disciples, ³⁰ saying, "Go your way into the village on the other side, in which, as you enter, you will find a colt tied, whereon no one ever yet sat. Untie it, and bring it. ³¹ If anyone asks you, 'Why are you untying it?' say to him: 'Because the Lord needs it.'" ³² Those who were sent went away, and found things just as he had told them. ³³ As they were untying the colt, its owners said to them, "Why are you untying the colt?" ³⁴ They said, "Because the Lord needs it." ³⁵ They brought it to Jesus. They threw their cloaks on the colt, and set Jesus on them.
