³⁰ I will not speak with you much longer, for the ruler of this world is coming, and he has no hold on me.

³⁵ The angel answered her, "The Holy Spirit will come on you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. Therefore also the holy one who is born will be called the Son of God.

⁵³ When I was with you in the temple daily, you did not stretch out your hands against me. But this is your hour, and the power of darkness."

⁴⁴ And he said to them, "This is what I told you, while I was still with you, that all things which are written in the Law of Moses, the Prophets, and the Psalms, concerning me must be fulfilled." ⁴⁵ Then he opened their minds, that they might understand the Scriptures. ⁴⁶ He said to them, "Thus it is written, for the Christ to suffer and to rise from the dead the third day, ⁴⁷ and that repentance leading to forgiveness of sins should be preached in his name to all the nations, beginning at Jerusalem. ⁴⁸ You are witnesses of these things. ⁴⁹ And look, I send forth the promise of my Father on you. But wait in the city until you are clothed with power from on high."

³¹ Now is the judgment of this world. Now the prince of this world will be cast out.

³ To these he also showed himself alive after he suffered, by many proofs, appearing to them over a period of forty days, and speaking about God's Kingdom.

⁴ in whom the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelieving, so they would not see the light of the glorious Good News of Christ, who is the image of God.

²¹ For him who knew no sin he made to be sin on our behalf; so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.

² in which you once walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit who now works in the children of disobedience;

¹² For our wrestling is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world's rulers of this darkness, and against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places.

¹³ who delivered us out of the power of darkness, and transferred us into the Kingdom of the Son of his love;

¹⁵ For we do not have a high priest who cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities, but one who has been in all points tempted like we are, yet without sin.

²⁶ For such a high priest was indeed fitting for us: holy, guiltless, undefiled, separated from sinners, and made higher than the heavens;

¹⁹ but with precious blood, as of an unblemished and spotless lamb, namely Christ;

²² who "committed no sin, nor was deceit found in his mouth."

⁵ You know that he was revealed to take away sins, and in him is no sin. ⁶ Whoever remains in him does not sin. Whoever sins hasn't seen him, neither knows him. ⁷ Children, let no one lead you astray. He who does righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous. ⁸ He who sins is of the devil, for the devil has been sinning from the beginning. To this end the Son of God was revealed, to destroy the works of the devil.

⁴ You are of God, little children, and have overcome them; because greater is he who is in you than he who is in the world.

¹⁹ We know that we are of God, and the whole world lies in the power of the evil one.

⁹ The great serpent was thrown down, the ancient serpent, he who is called the devil and Satan, the deceiver of the whole world. He was thrown down to the earth, and his angels were thrown down with him.

² He seized the serpent, the ancient snake, which is the devil and Satan, and bound him for a thousand years, ³ and cast him into the abyss, and shut it, and sealed it over him, that he should deceive the nations no more, until the thousand years were finished. After this, he must be freed for a short time.

⁷ And after the thousand years, Satan will be released from his prison, ⁸ and he will come out to deceive the nations which are in the four quarters of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them together to the war; the number of whom is as the sand of the sea.
