¹⁹ I am no longer worthy to be called your son. Make me like one of your hired servants."'

¹⁰ I am not worthy of the least of all the loving kindnesses and of all the faithfulness which you have shown to your servant; for with just my staff I passed over this Jordan, and now I have become two camps.

²⁴ They answered Joshua, and said, "Because your servants were certainly told how the LORD your God commanded his servant Moses to give you all the land, and to destroy all the inhabitants of the land from before you. Therefore we were very afraid for our lives because of you, and have done this thing. ²⁵ Now, look, we are in your hand. Do to us as it seems good and right to you to do."

⁶ Therefore I abhor myself, and repent in dust and ashes."

¹⁰ For a day in your courts is better than a thousand. I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of God, than to dwell in the tents of wickedness.

²⁶ But he answered, "It is not appropriate to take the children's bread and throw it to the dogs." ²⁷ But she said, "Yes, Lord, but even the dogs eat the crumbs which fall from their masters' table."

⁶ Jesus went with them. When he was now not far from the house, the centurion sent friends, saying to him, "Lord, do not trouble yourself, for I am not worthy for you to come under my roof. ⁷ Therefore I did not even think myself worthy to come to you; but say the word, and my servant will be healed.

⁹ For I am the least of the apostles, who is not worthy to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God.

¹³ although I was before a blasphemer, a persecutor, and insolent. ⁸ Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded. ⁹ Lament, mourn, and weep. Let your laughter be turned to mourning, and your joy to gloom. ¹⁰ Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he will exalt you.

⁶ Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time;
