⁷ They brought the young donkey to Jesus, and threw their garments on it, and Jesus sat on it.

¹³ Then they hurried, and took every man his garment, and put it under him on the top of the stairs, and blew the trumpet, saying, "Jehu is king."

⁹ Rejoice greatly, daughter of Zion. Shout, daughter of Jerusalem. Look, your king comes to you. He is righteous, and having salvation; lowly, and riding on a donkey, even on a colt, the foal of a donkey.

⁴ This took place that it might be fulfilled which was spoken through the prophet, saying, ⁵ Say to the daughter of Zion, "Look, your King comes to you, humble, and riding on a donkey, on a colt, the foal of a donkey."

⁷ and brought the donkey and the colt, and placed their clothes on them; and he sat on them. ⁸ A very large crowd spread their clothes on the road. Others cut branches from the trees, and spread them on the road.

³⁵ They brought it to Jesus. They threw their cloaks on the colt, and set Jesus on them. ³⁶ As he went, they spread their cloaks in the way.

¹² On the next day the large crowd that had come to the feast heard that Jesus was coming to Jerusalem, ¹³ they took the branches of the palm trees, and went out to meet him, and were shouting, "Hosanna. Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord, the King of Israel." ¹⁴ And Jesus, having found a young donkey, sat on it. As it is written, ¹⁵ "Do not be afraid, daughter of Zion. Look, your King comes, sitting on a donkey's colt." ¹⁶ His disciples did not understand these things at first, but when Jesus was glorified, then they remembered that these things were written about him, and that they had done these things to him.
