³ and sent out his servants to call those who were invited to the marriage feast, but they would not come.

¹³ As soon as you have come into the city, you shall immediately find him, before he goes up to the high place to eat; for the people will not eat until he comes, because he blesses the sacrifice; afterward those who are invited eat. Now therefore go up; for at this time you shall find him."

¹¹ The Lord announced the word; a great company of women proclaim the good news.

¹⁰ I am the LORD, your God, who brought you up out of the land of Egypt. Open your mouth wide, and I will fill it. ¹¹ But my people did not listen to my voice. Israel desired none of me. ¹² So I let them go after the stubbornness of their hearts, that they might walk in their own counsels.

²⁴ Because I have called, and you have refused; I have stretched out my hand, and no one has paid attention; ²⁵ but you have ignored all my counsel, and wanted none of my reproof; ²⁶ I also will laugh at your disaster. I will mock when calamity overtakes you; ²⁷ when calamity overtakes you like a storm, when your disaster comes on like a whirlwind; when distress and anguish come on you. ²⁸ Then will they call on me, but I will not answer. They will seek me diligently, but they will not find me; ²⁹ because they hated knowledge, and did not choose the fear of the LORD. ³⁰ They wanted none of my counsel. They despised all my reproof. ³¹ Therefore they will eat of the fruit of their own way, and be filled with their own schemes. ³² For the backsliding of the simple will kill them. The careless ease of fools will destroy them.

¹ Wisdom has built her house. She has set up her seven pillars. ² She has prepared her meat. She has mixed her wine. She has also set her table. ³ She has sent out her maidens. She cries from the highest places of the city:

¹⁵ For thus said the LORD, the Holy One of Israel, "You will be saved in returning and rest. Your strength will be in quietness and in confidence." You refused,

¹ "Come, everyone who thirsts, to the waters. Come, he who has no money, buy, and eat. Yes, come, buy wine and milk without money and without price. ² Why do you spend money for that which is not bread? and your labor for that which doesn't satisfy? Listen diligently to me, and eat you that which is good, and let your soul delight itself in fatness.

¹⁶ Thus says the LORD, "Stand in the ways and see, and ask for the old paths, 'Where is the good way?' and walk in it, and you will find rest for your souls." But they said, "We will not walk in it." ¹⁷ "I set watchmen over you, saying, 'Listen to the sound of the trumpet.'" But they said, "We will not listen."

⁴ The LORD has sent to you all his servants the prophets, rising up early and sending them (but you have not listened, nor inclined your ear to hear)

¹⁵ I have sent also to you all my servants the prophets, rising up early and sending them, saying, 'Return now every man from his evil way, and amend your doings, and do not go after other gods to serve them, and you shall dwell in the land which I have given to you and to your fathers': but you have not inclined your ear, nor listened to me.

² As I called them, the farther they went from me. They sacrificed to the Baals, and burned incense to engraved images.

⁷ My people are determined to turn from me. Though they call to the Most High, he certainly won't exalt them.

⁷ Be silent at the presence of the Lord GOD, for the day of the LORD is at hand. For the LORD has prepared a sacrifice. He has consecrated his guests.

² and saying, "Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is near."

⁶ Rather, go to the lost sheep of the house of Israel. ⁷ And as you go, proclaim, saying, 'The kingdom of heaven is near.'

³⁴ When the season for the fruit drew near, he sent his servants to the tenants, to receive his fruit.

³⁷ "Jerusalem, Jerusalem, who kills the prophets, and stones those who are sent to her. How often I would have gathered your children together, even as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, and you would not.

⁷ And he called to himself the twelve, and began to send them out two by two; and he gave them authority over the unclean spirits. ⁸ And he commanded them that they should take nothing for their journey, except a staff only: no bread, no pack, no money in their belts, ⁹ but to wear sandals, and not to put on two tunics. ¹⁰ And he said to them, "Wherever you enter into a house, stay there until you depart from there. ¹¹ And if any place will not receive you or listen to you, as you depart from there, shake off the dust that is under your feet for a testimony against them."

¹ He called the twelve together, and gave them power and authority over all demons and to cure diseases. ² He sent them forth to proclaim the Kingdom of God, and to heal the sick. ³ And he said to them, "Take nothing for your journey—neither staff, nor pack, nor bread, nor money; neither have two coats. ⁴ Into whatever house you enter, stay there, and depart from there. ⁵ As many as do not receive you, when you depart from that city, shake off even the dust from your feet for a testimony against them." ⁶ They departed, and went throughout the villages, preaching the Good News, and healing everywhere.

³⁴ "Jerusalem, Jerusalem, that kills the prophets, and stones those who are sent to her. How often I wanted to gather your children together, like a hen gathers her own brood under her wings, and you refused.

¹⁵ Now when one of those who were reclining with him heard these things, he said to him, "Blessed is he who will eat bread in the Kingdom of God." ¹⁶ But he said to him, "A certain man made a great supper, and he invited many people. ¹⁷ And he sent his servant at the hour for supper to tell those who were invited, 'Come, for everything is ready now.'

²⁸ But he was angry, and would not go in. Therefore his father came out, and pleaded with him.

²⁷ But bring those enemies of mine who did not want me to reign over them here, and kill them before me.'"

⁴⁰ But you are unwilling to come to me so that you may have life.

⁴⁵ But when the Jews saw the crowds, they were filled with jealousy, and contradicted the things which were spoken by Paul, and reviled him.

²¹ But as to Israel he says, "All day long I have stretched out my hands to a disobedient and obstinate people."

²⁵ See that you do not refuse him who speaks. For if they did not escape when they refused him who warned on the earth, how much more will we not escape who turn away from him who warns from heaven,

¹⁷ The Spirit and the bride say, "Come." He who hears, let him say, "Come." He who is thirsty, let him come. He who desires, let him take the water of life freely.
