²³ The desire of the righteous is only good. The expectation of the wicked is wrath.

¹⁷ LORD, you have heard the desire of the humble. You will prepare their heart. You will cause your ear to hear,

⁴ One thing I have asked of the LORD, that I will seek after, that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to see the LORD's beauty, and to inquire in his temple.

⁴ Also delight yourself in the LORD, and he will give you the desires of your heart.

⁷ And now, LORD, what do I wait for? My hope is in you. ⁸ Deliver me from all my transgressions. Do not make me the taunt of fools.

⁵ Oh that my ways were steadfast to obey your statutes.

¹⁰ With my whole heart, I have sought you. Do not let me wander from your commandments.

²⁸ The prospect of the righteous is joy, but the hope of the wicked will perish.

⁷ When a wicked man dies, hope perishes, and expectation of power comes to nothing.

⁹ With my soul have I desired you in the night. Yes, my spirit within me will seek you early, for when your judgments are in the earth, the inhabitants of the world learn righteousness.

⁶ Blessed are those who hunger and thirst after righteousness, for they will be filled.

²⁷ but a certain fearful expectation of judgment, and a fierceness of fire which will devour the adversaries.
