²⁰ One who walks with wise men grows wise, but a companion of fools suffers harm.

¹² Abram lived in the land of Canaan, and Lot lived in the cities of the plain, and moved his tent as far as Sodom. ¹³ Now the people of Sodom were evil, sinning greatly against God.

² Jehu the son of Hanani the seer went out to meet him, and said to king Jehoshaphat, "Should you help the wicked, and love those who hate the LORD? Because of this, wrath is on you from before the LORD.

⁶³ I am a friend of all those who fear you, of those who observe your precepts.

¹¹ If they say, "Come with us, Let's lie in wait for blood; let's lurk secretly for the innocent without cause; ¹² let's swallow them up alive like Sheol, and whole, like those who go down into the pit. ¹³ We'll find all valuable wealth. We'll fill our houses with spoil. ¹⁴ Throw in your lot with us. We'll all have one purse." ¹⁵ My son, do not walk in the way with them. Keep your foot from their path, ¹⁶ for their feet run to evil. They hurry to shed blood. ¹⁷ For in vain is the net spread in the sight of any bird: ¹⁸ but these lie in wait for their own blood. They lurk secretly for their own lives. ¹⁹ So are the ways of everyone who is greedy for gain. It takes away the life of its owners.

¹² to deliver you from the way of evil, from the men who speak perverse things; ¹³ who forsake the paths of uprightness, to walk in the ways of darkness; ¹⁴ who rejoice to do evil, and delight in the perverseness of evil; ¹⁵ who are crooked in their ways, and wayward in their paths: ¹⁶ To deliver you from the strange woman, even from the foreigner who flatters with her words; ¹⁷ who forsakes the friend of her youth, and forgets the covenant of her God: ¹⁸ for her house leads down to death, her paths to the dead. ¹⁹ None who go to her return again, neither do they attain to the paths of life: ²⁰ that you may walk in the way of good men, and keep the paths of the righteous.

²² He followed her immediately, as an ox goes to the slaughter, as a stag leaping into a trap, ²³ till an arrow strikes through his liver, as a bird hurries to the snare, and doesn't know that it will cost his life.

²⁷ Her house is the way to Sheol, going down to the chambers of death.

⁶ Leave your simple ways, and live. Walk in the way of understanding."

³¹ The ear that listens to reproof lives, and will be at home among the wise.

⁷ Tell me, you whom my soul loves, where you graze your flock, where you rest them at noon; For why should I be as one who is veiled beside the flocks of your companions? ⁸ If you do not know, most beautiful among women, follow the tracks of the sheep. Graze your young goats beside the shepherds' tents.

¹⁶ Then those who feared the LORD spoke one with another; and the LORD listened, and heard, and a book of remembrance was written before him, for those who feared the LORD, and who honored his name.

⁴² They continued steadfastly in the apostles' teaching and fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and prayer.

³³ Do not be deceived. "Bad company corrupts good morals." ³⁴ Become sober-minded, and do not sin, for some are ignorant about God. I say this to your shame.

¹⁴ Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers, for what fellowship have righteousness and iniquity? Or what fellowship has light with darkness? ¹⁵ What agreement has Christ with Belial? Or what portion has a believer with an unbeliever? ¹⁶ What agreement has a temple of God with idols? For we are a temple of the living God. Even as God said, "I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they will be my people." ¹⁷ Therefore, "'Go out from their midst, and be separate,' says the Lord, 'and touch no unclean thing,' and I will receive you. ¹⁸ "And I will be a Father to you, and you will be my sons and daughters," says the Lord of hosts.

²⁴ Let us consider how to motivate one another to love and good works,
