³¹ Gray hair is a crown of glory. It is found in the path of righteousness.

⁷ Then Joseph brought in his father Jacob, and presented him before Pharaoh, and Jacob blessed Pharaoh. ⁸ And Pharaoh said to Jacob, "How many are the days of the years of your life?" ⁹ So Jacob said to Pharaoh, "The days of the years of my sojourning are one hundred thirty years. Testify against me before the LORD, and before his anointed. Whose ox have I taken, or whose donkey have I taken, or whom have I defrauded? Whom have I oppressed, or from whose hand have I taken a bribe, or a shoe? Testify against me, and I will restore it to you." ⁴ They said, "You have not defrauded us, nor oppressed us, neither have you taken anything of any man's hand." ⁵ He said to them, "The LORD is witness against you, and his anointed is witness this day, that you have not found anything in my hand." They said, "He is witness."

All the assembly blessed the LORD, the God of their fathers, and bowed down their heads and prostrated themselves before the LORD and the king. ²¹ They sacrificed sacrifices to the LORD, and offered burnt offerings to the LORD, on the next day after that day, even one thousand bulls, one thousand rams, and one thousand lambs, with their drink offerings, and sacrifices in abundance for all Israel, ²² and ate and drink before the LORD on that day with great gladness. They made Solomon the son of David king the second time, and they anointed him to the LORD to be prince, and Zadok to be priest. ²³ Then Solomon sat on the throne of the LORD as king instead of David his father, and prospered; and all Israel obeyed him. ²⁴ And all the leaders, the mighty men, and also all of the sons of king David submitted themselves to Solomon the king. ²⁵ The LORD magnified Solomon exceedingly in the sight of all Israel, and bestowed on him such royal majesty as had not been on any king before him in Israel.

⁶ Elihu the son of Barakel the Buzite answered, "I am young, and you are very old; Therefore I held back, and did not dare show you my opinion. ⁷ I said, 'Days should speak, and multitude of years should teach wisdom.'

¹ My son, do not forget my teaching; but let your heart keep my commandments: ² for length of days, and years of life, and peace, will they add to you.

⁶ Children's children are the crown of old men; the glory of children are their parents.
