¹⁰ My son, if sinners entice you, do not consent.

⁷ And it came to pass after these things that his masterʼs wife took notice of Joseph and she said, "Sleep with me." ⁸ But he refused, and said to his masterʼs wife, "Look, my master does not concern himself with anything in his house, and he has put all that he has into my care. ⁹ There is no one greater in this household than I am, nor has he kept back anything from me but you, since you are his wife. How then can I do such a great evil, and sin against God?" ¹⁰ And although she spoke to Joseph day after day, he did not listen to her to sleep with her or to be with her. ¹¹ Now it happened about this time that he went into the house to do his work, and there were none of the men of the house inside. ¹² She grabbed him by his garment, saying, "Sleep with me." And he left his garment in her hand and ran outside. ¹³ When she saw that he had left his garment in her hand and had run outside,

⁸ you shall not consent to him, nor listen to him; neither shall your eye pity him, neither shall you spare, neither shall you conceal him:

¹⁶ It happened, when she pressed him daily with her words, and urged him, that his soul was troubled to death. ¹⁷ He told her all his heart, and said to her, "No razor has ever come on my head; for I have been a Nazirite to God from my mother's womb. If I am shaved, then my strength will go from me, and I will become weak, and be like any other man." ¹⁸ When Delilah saw that he had told her all his heart, she sent and called for the lords of the Philistines, saying, "Come up this once, for he has told me all his heart." Then the lords of the Philistines went up to her, and brought the money in their hands. ¹⁹ She made him sleep on her knees; and she called for a man, and shaved off the seven locks of his head; and he began to weaken, and his strength went from him. ²⁰ She said, "The Philistines are upon you, Samson." He awoke out of his sleep, and said, "I will go out as at other times, and shake myself free." But he didn't know that the LORD had departed from him. ²¹ The Philistines seized him, and gouged out his eyes. And they brought him down to Gaza, and bound him with bronze shackles, and he ground at the mill in the prison.

¹ Blessed is the one who doesn't follow the advice of the wicked, or take the path of sinners, or join in with scoffers.

¹⁸ When you saw a thief, you consented with him, and have participated with adulterers.

²¹ With persuasive words, she led him astray. With the flattering of her lips, she seduced him. ²² He followed her immediately, as an ox goes to the slaughter, as a stag leaping into a trap, ²³ till an arrow strikes through his liver, as a bird hurries to the snare, and doesn't know that it will cost his life.

²⁰ One who walks with wise men grows wise, but a companion of fools suffers harm.

²⁹ A man of violence entices his neighbor, and leads him in a way that is not good.

¹⁹ He who goes about as a tale-bearer reveals secrets; therefore do not keep company with him who opens wide his lips.

¹⁸ For those who are such do not serve our Lord Christ, but their own belly; and by their smooth and flattering speech, they deceive the hearts of the innocent.

¹¹ Have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather even reprove them.
