¹² and speak to him, saying, 'Thus says the LORD of hosts, "Look, the man whose name is the Branch: and he shall grow up out of his place; and he shall build the temple of the LORD;

⁸ Now in the second year of their coming to God's house at Jerusalem, in the second month, Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, and Jeshua the son of Jozadak, and the rest of their brothers the priests and the Levites, and all those who had come out of the captivity to Jerusalem, began the work and appointed the Levites, from twenty years old and upward, to have the oversight of the work of the LORD's house.

¹⁰ When the builders laid the foundation of the LORD's temple, they set the priests in their clothing with trumpets, with the Levites the sons of Asaph with cymbals, to praise the LORD, according to the directions of David king of Israel.

¹⁵ the stock which your right hand planted, the branch that you made strong for yourself. ¹⁶ It's burned with fire. It's cut down. They perish at your rebuke. ¹⁷ Let your hand be on the man of your right hand, on the son of man whom you made strong for yourself.

² In that day, the LORD's branch will be beautiful and glorious, and the fruit of the land will be the beauty and glory of the survivors of Israel.

¹ A branch will come out of the stock of Jesse, and a shoot out of his roots will bear fruit.

¹ Look, a king shall reign in righteousness, and princes shall rule in justice. ² A man shall be as a hiding place from the wind, and a shelter from the storm, as streams of water in a dry place, as the shade of a large rock in a weary land.

² For he grew up before him as a tender plant, and as a root out of dry ground. He had no beauty or majesty to attract us to him, nor special appearance that we should desire him.

⁵ "Look, the days come," says the LORD, "that I will raise to David a righteous Branch, and he shall reign as king and deal wisely, and shall execute justice and righteousness in the land.

¹⁵ In those days, and at that time, will I cause a Branch of righteousness to grow up to David; and he shall execute justice and righteousness in the land.

⁵ He will be our peace when Assyria invades our land, and when he marches through our fortresses, then we will raise against him seven shepherds, and eight leaders of men.

⁸ Hear now, Joshua the high priest, you and your fellows who sit before you; for they are men who are a sign: for, look, I will bring forth my servant, the Branch.

⁶ Then he answered and spoke to me, saying, "This is the word of the LORD to Zerubbabel, saying, 'Not by might, nor by power, but by my Spirit,' says the LORD of hosts. ⁷ Who are you, great mountain? Before Zerubbabel you are a plain; and he will bring out the capstone with shouts of 'Grace, grace, to it.'" ⁸ Moreover the word of the LORD came to me, saying, ⁹ "The hands of Zerubbabel have laid the foundation of this house. His hands shall also finish it; and you will know that the LORD of hosts has sent me to you.

⁹ Thus says the LORD of hosts: "Let your hands be strong, you who hear in these days these words from the mouth of the prophets who were in the day that the foundation of the house of the LORD of hosts was laid, even the temple, that it might be built.

⁷ "Awake, sword, against my shepherd, and against the man who is close to me," says the LORD of hosts. "I will strike the shepherd, and the sheep will be scattered; and I will turn my hand against the little ones.

¹⁸ I also tell you that you are Peter, and on this Rock I will build my church, and the gates of hell will not prevail against it.

⁶¹ and said, "This man said, 'I am able to destroy the temple of God, and to build it in three days.'"

⁵⁸ "We heard him say, 'I will destroy this temple that is made with hands, and in three days I will build another made without hands.'"

²⁹ Those who passed by blasphemed him, wagging their heads, and saying, "Ha. You who destroy the temple, and build it in three days,

³⁹ And when the centurion, who stood by opposite him, saw that he cried out like this and breathed his last, he said, "Truly this man was the Son of God."

⁷⁸ because of the tender mercy of our God, whereby the dawn from on high will visit us,

⁴⁵ Philip found Nathanael, and said to him, "We have found him of whom Moses in the Law and the Prophets wrote: Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph."

¹⁹ Jesus answered them, "Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up." ²⁰ The Jewish leaders therefore said, "It has taken forty-six years to build this temple, and will you raise it up in three days?" ²¹ But he spoke of the temple of his body.

⁵ Then Jesus came out, wearing the crown of thorns and the purple garment. And he said to them, "Look, here is the man."

³⁸ Be it known to you therefore, brothers, that through this man is proclaimed to you forgiveness of sins,

³¹ because he has appointed a day in which he will judge the world in righteousness by the man whom he has ordained; of which he has given assurance to everyone by raising him from the dead."

⁹ For we are God's fellow workers. You are God's field, God's building.

²⁰ being built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Christ Jesus himself being the chief cornerstone; ²¹ in whom the whole building, fitted together, grows into a holy temple in the Lord; ²² in whom you also are built together for a habitation of God in the Spirit.

³ For he has been counted worthy of more glory than Moses, just as he who built the house has more honor than the house. ⁴ For every house is built by someone; but he who built all things is God.

⁴ Now consider how great this man was, to whom even Abraham, the patriarch, gave a tenth out of the most valuable plunder.

²⁴ But he, because he lives forever, has his priesthood unchangeable.

³ For every high priest is appointed to offer both gifts and sacrifices. Therefore it is necessary that this high priest also have something to offer.

¹² but this one, when he had offered one sacrifice for sins forever, sat down on the right hand of God;

⁴ coming to him, a living stone, though rejected by people but chosen by God, precious. ⁵ You also, as living stones, are built up as a spiritual house, to be a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.
