⁷ Saul said: »How can we talk to the prophet when I do not have anything to give him? We do not even have any food left in our sacks. What can we give him?« ⁸ »I have a small piece of silver,« the servant answered. »We can give him that. Then he will tell us where to look for the donkeys.«

⁷ Then the king said to the prophet: »Come home with me and have something to eat. I will reward you for what you have done.«

² King Ahaziah of Israel fell off the balcony on the roof of his palace in Samaria and was seriously injured. He sent some messengers and said to them: »Go to consult Baalzebub, the god of the Philistine city of Ekron, to find out whether or not I will recover from this.«

⁴² A man came from Baal Shalishah. He brought Elisha twenty loaves of bread made from the first barley harvested that year and some freshly cut heads of grain. Elisha told his servant to feed the group of prophets with this.

⁵ The king said: »Go to the king of Israel and take this letter to him.« Naaman departed. He took thirty thousand pieces of silver, six thousand pieces of gold, and ten changes of fine clothes.

¹⁵ Naaman returned to Elisha with all his men and said: »Now I realize there is no god but the God of Israel. Please accept a gift from me.«

⁷ Elisha went to Damascus when King Benhadad of Syria was sick. The king was told that Elisha was there. ⁸ He said to Hazael, one of his officials: »Take a gift to the prophet and ask him to consult Jehovah to find out whether or not I am going to get well.« ⁹ Hazael loaded forty camels with all kinds of the finest products of Damascus and went to Elisha. Hazael said: »Your servant, King Benhadad sent me to ask if he will recover from his sickness.«

² A centurion’s servant, who was highly regarded by him, was sick and at the point of death. ³ When he heard about him he contacted Jesus through the Jewish elders. He asked him to come and save his servant.

⁴⁷ He heard that Jesus came from Judea into Galilee. He went to him and urged him to come see his son. His son was near death. ⁴⁸ »Until you see signs and wonders you will not believe,« Jesus said.
