⁶ »He builds his chambers in the heavens. He founded his dome over the earth. He calls for the waters of the sea and pours them out upon the face of the earth. Jehovah is his name.

¹ The heavens and the earth and their immense arrangement were completed.

¹¹ In the six hundredth year of Noah’s life, on the seventeenth day of the second month, on that day all the springs of the great deep burst forth, and the floodgates of the sky were opened. ¹² Rain fell on the earth forty days and forty nights. ¹³ Noah and his sons, Shem, Ham, and Japheth, together with his wife and the wives of his three sons, entered the ark. ¹⁴ They had with them every wild animal according to its kind, all livestock according to their kinds, every creature that moves along the ground according to its kind, and every bird according to its kind, everything with wings. ¹⁵ Pairs of all creatures that have the breath of life in them came to Noah and entered the ark. ¹⁶ The animals going in were male and female of every living thing, just as God had commanded Noah. Then Jehovah shut him in. ¹⁷ The flood came upon the earth for forty days. As the waters increased, they lifted the ark high above the earth. ¹⁸ The waters rose and increased greatly on the earth. The ark floated on the surface of the water. ¹⁹ They rose greatly on the earth, and all the high mountains under the entire heavens were covered.

¹⁴ God then said to Moses: »[I exist and] I WILL BE WHO I WILL BE.« You shall say to the sons of Israel: »I WILL BE, has sent me to you.’« (Hebrew: hayah, »I was, I am, I will be« gives evidence of God’s eternal existence) ¹⁵ God, further said to Moses: »You shall say to the sons of Israel: ‘JEHOVAH, the God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, has sent me to you.’ (JEHOVAH) THIS IS MY NAME FOREVER! This is my memorial-name to all generations.

³ You lay the beams of your upper chambers in the waters. You make the clouds your chariot. You walk upon the wings of the wind.

⁵ You established the earth upon its foundations, so that it will not be unstable forever. ⁶ You covered it with the deep like a garment. The waters stood above the mountains.

¹³ You water the mountains from your upper chambers. The earth is satisfied with the fruit of your works.

²² »Do you not reverence (respect) me?« Asks Jehovah. »Do you not tremble [with awe] in my presence? I made the sand a boundary for the sea, a permanent barrier it cannot cross. Although the waves toss continuously, they cannot break through. Although they roar, they cannot cross it.

¹³ »Behold he who formed the mountains and created the wind and declared to man his thoughts, also made the morning darkness and treads upon the high places of the Earth: Jehovah, the God of Hosts, is his name.«
