²⁷ Jehovah said to Aaron: »Go to meet Moses in the wilderness.« So he went and met him at the mountain of God and kissed him.

¹¹ Then Jacob kissed Rachel and wept loudly.

¹ One day Moses was taking care of the flock of his father-in-law Jethro, the priest of Midian. He led the flock across the desert to Sinai, the holy mountain.

¹⁴ Then the anger of Jehovah burned against Moses, and He said: »Is there not your brother Aaron the Levite? I know that he speaks fluently. He is coming out to meet you. When he sees you, he will be glad in his heart. ¹⁵ »You are to speak to him and put the words in his mouth. I will be with your mouth and his mouth. I will teach you what you are to do. ¹⁶ Moreover, he shall speak for you to the people. He will be as a mouth for you and you will be as God to him.

³ Jehovah called Moses from the mountain. So Moses went up the mountain to God. Jehovah told him: »This is what you must say to the descendants of Jacob. Tell the Israelites:

¹⁸ The people heard the thunder and the trumpet blast. They saw the lightning and the smoking mountain. They trembled with fear and stood at a distance.

¹⁵ Moses went up to the mountain. The cloud covered the mountain. ¹⁶ The glory of Jehovah rested on Mount Sinai. The cloud covered it for six days. God called to Moses on the seventh day. He spoke from inside the cloud. ¹⁷ To the eyes of the Israelites the appearance of the glory of Jehovah was like a consuming fire on the top of the mountain.

⁸ So he got up and took food and drink. He was strengthened to go for forty days and forty nights, to Horeb, the mountain of God.

⁹ Two are better than one because they have a good reward for their labor.
