¹⁶ He revealed his Son to me that I might preach him among the nations. I do not confer with flesh and blood (human beings).

⁹ »Who said of his father and mother: ‘I have not seen them; and he did not acknowledge his brothers, nor did he regard his own sons. They observed your word and kept your covenant.’

¹⁷ Jesus answered him: »Bless you, Simon son of John. This knowledge came from my Father in heaven and not from man.

⁴¹ »Watch and pray continually that you do not enter into temptation!«

²⁵ »For what does it profit a man if he gain the whole world, and lose or forfeit his own self?

⁵⁹ He told another: »Follow me.« But he said: »Lord first let me go bury my father.« ⁶⁰ »Let the dead bury the dead. You go and publish abroad the kingdom of God.« Jesus replied. ⁶¹ Another said: »I will follow you Lord, but first let me go say good by to my relatives.« ⁶² Jesus responded: »No man, who puts his hand to the plow and looks back is fit for the kingdom of God.«

²³ He told them all: »If any man would come after me let him deny himself. Let him take up his stake (of self-denial) daily, and follow me. ²⁴ »He who would save his life shall lose it. He who would lose his life for my sake shall save it.

¹⁵ The Lord said to him: »Be on your way. This man is a chosen vessel to bear my name to the people of the nations, and kings and the children of Israel.

²¹ »The Lord said: ‘Go! I will send you far away to the people of the nations.’

¹⁷ »I will rescue you from the people and the nations. I am sending you to them. ¹⁸ »To open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan to God. They may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among those who are sanctified by faith in me.’ ¹⁹ »You see, O King Agrippa, I was not disobedient to the heavenly vision. ²⁰ »I preached first to Damascus, and to Jerusalem, and throughout all the coasts of Judea, and then to the people of the nations, that they should repent and turn to God, and prove their repentance by deeds.

¹³ I want you to know, brothers, that I was often determined to come to you, but was hindered until now, that I might have some fruit among you as well as the rest of the nations. ¹⁴ I am a debtor both to the Greeks, and to the barbarians, both to the wise, and to the unwise.

¹³ I speak to you people of the nations. For I am the apostle to the nations and I glorify (honor) (praise) (celebrate) my ministry.

⁹ It is written: »Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, and it has not entered into the heart of man, the things God prepared for those who love him.« (Isaiah 64:4) ¹⁰ But God revealed them to us by his Spirit. For the Spirit investigates (searches) all things, yes even the deep things of God. ¹¹ For what man knows the things of a man, except the mental disposition that is in man? Even so no one knows the things of God, but the Spirit of God. ¹² Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit that is from God. This is so we might know the things that are freely given to us from God. ¹³ We speak these things, not in the words that man's wisdom teaches. But we speak them with the words the Holy Spirit teaches comparing spiritual things with spiritual things.

¹⁶ That I should be the minister of Jesus Christ to the nations, ministering the good news of God, that the offering of these nations might be acceptable, being sanctified by the Holy Spirit. ¹⁷ I glory in Jesus Christ in my service to God. ¹⁸ I will not dare to speak of any of those things that Christ has not accomplished through me. I will lead the nations to obey God in word and deed. ¹⁹ Through mighty signs and wonders, by the power of the Spirit of God. From Jerusalem, and round about Illyricum, I have fully preached the good news of Christ.

⁶ God said: Light will shine out of darkness. He shined in our hearts. He gave the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face (presence) ((person) of Jesus Christ.

¹⁶ From now on we know no man according to the flesh: even though we have known Christ according to the flesh, yet now we know him so no longer.

⁵⁰ Now this I say, brothers, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God. Corruption may not inherit incorruption.

¹ Fourteen years later I went again to Jerusalem with Barnabas. I took Titus with me also.

⁶ Those who were recognized as important people did not add a single thing to my message. What sort of people they were makes no difference to me. God does not play favorites (show partiality). ⁷ On the contrary, they saw that I had been entrusted with the good news to people who are not circumcised. Just as Peter had been entrusted with the good news to the people who are circumcised. ⁸ The one who made Peter an apostle to the Jewish people (who are circumcised) also made me an apostle to the people of the nations (who are not circumcised). ⁹ When they saw the grace that was given to me, James, Cephas (Peter) and John, they who were known to be pillars, gave to Barnabas and me the right hand of fellowship. We were to go to the nations and they were to go to the people who are circumcised.

¹⁷ May the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, give you a spirit (mental disposition) of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him. ¹⁸ Have the eyes of your heart enlightened, that you may know the hope of his calling, the riches of his glorious inheritance in the holy ones,

¹ For this cause I, Paul, am the prisoner of Christ Jesus on behalf of you people of the nations.

⁵ It was not made known to other generations of the sons of men, as it has now been revealed to his holy apostles and prophets by the Spirit. ⁶ The Gentiles are fellow-heirs, and fellow-members of the body, and fellow-partakers of the promise in Christ Jesus through the good news. ⁷ I was made a minister, according to the gift of God’s grace that was given me according to the working of his power. ⁸ To me, the very least of all the holy ones, was given grace (loving divine influence) to preach to the people of the nations the untraceable riches of Christ. ⁹ To make all men see what is the administration of the secret which for ages has been hidden in God who created all things. ¹⁰ It is the intent that now the manifold wisdom of God might be made known through the congregation and the rules and authorities in the heavenly places.

¹¹ For I make known to you brothers that the good news that was preached by me is not according to man. ¹² I did not receive it from man. I was not taught it! It came to me through revelation from Jesus Christ.

¹² Our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in heavenly places.

²⁵ God gave me this stewardship to perform for your good. He has made me a servant of the congregation. It is for the task of fully proclaiming the word of God. ²⁶ It is the secret he hid through all past ages from all human beings but has now revealed to his holy ones. ²⁷ It was God’s will to make known his secret to the people of the nations, this rich and glorious secret that he has for people. The secret is that Christ is in union with you, which means that you will share in his glory.

¹⁶ They hindered us from speaking to the nations so that they may be saved. The result was that they always fill up the measure of their sins. But wrath has come upon them to the utmost.

¹¹ I was appointed to be a messenger of this good news, an apostle, and a teacher.

¹⁴ Since the »children« are partakers of flesh and blood, he also took part of the same things, that through death he might destroy him that had the power to cause death, [Satan] the Devil.

⁷ Because of this I was appointed a preacher and an apostle. What I say is true, not false, and I am a teacher of the nations in the true faith.
