Genesis 10 Cross References - NSB

1 This is the genealogy of Shem, Ham, and Japheth, Noah’s sons, who also had sons after the flood. 2 The sons of Japheth: Gomer, Magog, Madai, Javan, Tubal, Meshech, and Tiras. 3 The sons of Gomer: Ashkenaz, Riphath, and Togarmah. 4 The sons of Javan: Elishah, Tarshish, Kittim, and Rodanim (Dodanim). 5 From these the maritime peoples spread out into their territories by their clans within their nations, each with its own language. 6 The sons of Ham: Cush, Mizraim (Egypt), Put, and Canaan. 7 The sons of Cush: Seba, Havilah, Sabtah, Raamah, and Sabteca. The sons of Raamah: Sheba and Dedan. 8 Cush was the father of Nimrod, who grew to be a mighty warrior on the earth. 9 He was a mighty hunter before Jehovah. That is why it is said: »Like Nimrod, a mighty hunter before Jehovah.« 10 The first centers of his kingdom were Babylon, Erech, Accad, and Calneh, in Shinar. 11 From that land he went to Assyria, where he built Nineveh, Rehoboth-Ir, Calah, 12 and Resen, which is between Nineveh and Calah; that is the great city. 13 Mizraim was the father of the Ludites, Anamites, Lehabites, Naphtuhites, 14 Pathrusites, Casluhites, and Caphtorites. 15 Canaan was the father of Sidon his firstborn, and of the Hittites, 16 Jebusites, Amorites, Girgashites, 17 Hivites, Arkites, Sinites, 18 Arvadites, Zemarites, and Hamathites. Later the Canaanite clans scattered, 19 and the borders of Canaan reached from Sidon toward Gerar as far as Gaza, and then toward Sodom, Gomorrah, Admah, and Zeboiim, as far as Lasha. 20 These are the sons of Ham by their clans and languages, in their territories and nations. 21 Sons were also born to Shem, whose older brother was Japheth. Shem was the ancestor of all the sons of Eber. 22 The sons of Shem: Elam, Asshur, Arpachshad, Lud and Aram. 23 The sons of Aram: Uz, Hul, Gether, and Meshech. 24 Arpachshad was the father of Shelah, and Shelah the father of Eber. 25 Two sons were born to Eber. One was named Peleg, because in his time the earth was divided. His brother was named Joktan. 26 Joktan was the father of Almodad, Sheleph, Hazarmaveth, Jerah, 27 Hadoram, Uzal, Diklah, 28 Obal, Abimael, Sheba, 29 Ophir, Havilah, and Jobab. All these were sons of Joktan. 30 The region where they lived stretched from Mesha toward Sephar, in the eastern hill country. 31 These are the sons of Shem by their clans and languages, in their territories and nations. 32 These are the clans of Noah’s sons, according to their lines of descent, within their nations. From these the nations spread out over the earth after the flood.

He also learned that Jacob had been sent to find a wife in northern Syria. 7 Jacob did as his father and mother said. I will watch over you wherever you go. I will also bring you back to this land. I will not leave you until I do what I have promised you.« 16 Jacob woke up from his sleep and said: »Truly, Jehovah is in this place, and I did not know it!« 17 He was filled with reverence. He said: »This is an awesome place! Certainly, this is the house of God and the gateway to the heavens!« 18 Early the next morning Jacob took the stone he had under his head. He set it up as a marker and poured oil on top of it. 19 He named that place Bethel (House of God). Previously, the name of the city was Luz. 20 Jacob made a vow. This was before Jehovah destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah. 11 So Lot chose for himself the whole plain of the Jordan and set out toward the east. The two men parted company: 12 Abram lived in the land of Canaan, while Lot lived among the cities of the plain and pitched his tents near Sodom. 13 The men of Sodom were wicked and sinned greatly against Jehovah. 14 After Lot had parted from Abram, Jehovah said to Abram: »Lift up your eyes from where you are and look north and south, east and west. 15 »All the land that you see I will give to you and your offspring (descendants) from generation to generation. 16 »I will make your offspring like the dust of the earth. Joshua 14:1-15

1 These are the countries that the children of Israel inherited in the land of Canaan, which Eleazar the priest, and Joshua the son of Nun, and the heads of the fathers of the tribes of the children of Israel, distributed for their inheritance. 2 Their inheritance was by lot. Jehovah commanded the hand of Moses to distribute to the nine tribes and the half tribe. 3 Moses had given the inheritance of two tribes and a half tribe on the other side of the Jordan. He gave no inheritance to the Levites. 4 The children of Joseph were two tribes, Manasseh and Ephraim. No part of the land was given to the Levites. They were given cities in which to live and a place for their cattle and personally property. 5 The people of Israel did as Jehovah commanded Moses. They divided the land. 6 Then the children of Judah came to Joshua in Gilgal: and Caleb the son of Jephunneh the Kenezite said to him: »You know what Jehovah said to Moses the man of God concerning you and me in Kadesh-barnea. 7 »I was forty years old when Moses the servant of Jehovah sent me from Kadesh-barnea to spy out the land. I brought him word again as it was in my heart. 8 »Nevertheless my brothers who went up with me made the heart of the people dissolve. But I wholly followed Jehovah my God. 9 »Moses swore on that day, saying: ‘Surely the land where your feet have trodden shall be your inheritance, and your children’s from generation to generation, because you have completely followed Jehovah my God. 10 »‘Jehovah has kept me alive, as he said, these forty-five years, even since Jehovah spoke this word to Moses, while the children of Israel wandered in the wilderness. Now I am this day eighty-five years old. 11 »‘So far I am as strong this day as I was in the day that Moses sent me: as my strength was then, even so is my strength is now, for war, both to go out, and to come in. 12 »‘Now therefore give me this mountain. This is where Jehovah spoke that day. You heard about the Anakims that day. Their cities were large and fortified and Jehovah helped me drive them out just as Jehovah said.« 13 Joshua blessed Caleb the son of Jephunneh and gave him Hebron for an inheritance. 14 Hebron therefore became the inheritance of Caleb the son of Jephunneh the Kenezite to this day, because that he wholly followed Jehovah the God of Israel. 15 Hebron was previously named Kirjath-arba. Arba was a great man among the Anakims. The land (and its people) had rest from war.
