¹² All who are proud will be humbled. Jehovah of Hosts will have his day against all who are arrogant and conceited.

¹¹ »Unleash the fury of your wrath, look at every proud man and bring him low! ¹² »Look at every proud man and humble him, crush the wicked where they stand.

⁹ Jehovah of Hosts planned this in order to dishonor all arrogant people and to humiliate all the honored people of the world.

⁴ The earth mourns and fades away, the world fades and withers, the exalted people of the earth mourn.

²¹ That day Jehovah will punish the host of heaven on high and the kings of the earth below.

¹⁰ That day belongs to Jehovah of Hosts. It is a day of vengeance when he will take revenge on his enemies. His sword will devour until it has had enough, and it will drink their blood until it is full. The Almighty Jehovah of Hosts will offer them as sacrifices in the north by the Euphrates River.

⁵ ‘»You have not gone up into the gaps (broken places) of the wall around the house of Israel. You did not build the wall to stand in the battle on the day of Jehovah.«

³⁷ »Now I, Nebuchadnezzar, praise, extol and honor the King of heaven. All his works are truth, and his ways justice. He is able to abase (humble) (subdue) those who walk in pride.«

²⁰ »But when his heart was lifted up, and his spirit was hardened with pride he dealt proudly. He was deposed from his kingly throne and they took his glory from him: ²¹ »He was driven from the sons of men, and his heart was made like the beasts. His dwelling was with the wild donkeys. ¹⁸ »Woe to you who desire the day of Jehovah! What will the day of Jehovah mean to you? It is darkness, and not light.

¹ Jehovah of Hosts proclaims: »The day is coming when all arrogant and evil people will burn like stubble. On that day they will burn up and there will be nothing left of them, either root or bough.

⁵ »Behold! I will send you Elijah the prophet before the great and terrible Day of Jehovah comes.

¹² »He who exalts himself will be humbled. He who humbles himself will be exalted.

¹¹ »Those who exalt themselves will be humbled. And people who humble themselves will be exalted.«

⁵ Deliver this one to Satan for the destruction of the flesh, that the spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus.

² For you know perfectly that the »Day of Jehovah« will come like a thief in the night. (Zephaniah 1:14)

⁶ But he gives more grace. The scripture said, »God resists the proud, but gives grace (loving-kindness) to the humble.«
