⁹ You bring good news to Zion. Go up on a high mountain. You bring good news to Jerusalem. Lift up your voice with a shout! Lift it up and do not be afraid! Say to the towns of Judah: »Here is your God!«

⁷ Jotham heard about this. He stood on top of Mount Gerizim and shouted out to them: »Men of Shechem, listen to me and God may listen to you!

¹³ Then David crossed over to the other side of the valley. He went to the top of the hill a great distance away. ¹⁴ David shouted to Saul’s troops and to Abner: »Abner! Can you hear me?« »Who is calling to the king?« Abner asked.

⁴ The armies met in the hill country of Ephraim. King Abijah went up Mount Zemaraim and called out to Jeroboam and the Israelites: »Listen to me!« He shouted.

¹ It was the first year of Cyrus, king of Persia. In order that the word of Jehovah (YHWH) given by the mouth of Jeremiah might come true, Jehovah moved the spirit of Cyrus, king of Persia. He made a public statement through all his kingdom, and put it in writing, saying: ² »These are the words of Cyrus, king of Persia: ‘Jehovah the God of heaven has given me all the kingdoms of the earth. He has made me responsible for building a house for him in Jerusalem, which is in Judah.

² »Truly God is my salvation! I will trust and not be afraid. Jehovah… Jehovah is my strength and my song! He has become my salvation.«

⁹ On that day his people will say: »This is our God! We have waited for Him and now He will save us. This is Jehovah. We have waited for Him. Let us rejoice and be glad because He will save us.«

³ Strengthen the tired hands and the knees that tremble with weakness. ⁴ Tell the discouraged ones with anxious heart: »Be strong and do not be afraid! God is coming to your rescue! He is coming to punish your enemies.«

⁷ »Hear me, you who know what is right, you people who have my law in your hearts. Do not fear the reproach of men or be terrified by their insults.

¹² »I, even I, am the one who comforts you. Who are you that you fear mortal men? The sons of men are like grass!

⁷ How beautiful on the mountains are the feet of those who bring good news, who proclaim peace and who bring good tidings of good things! For they proclaim salvation and say to Zion: »Your God reigns as king!« (Hebrew: Elohiym’ malak’: God rules!) ⁸ Listen! Your watchmen lift up their voices. Together they shout for joy. They will see it with their own eyes when Jehovah returns to Zion.

²⁷ I was the first to tell Zion: »Look, here they are!« I gave to Jerusalem a messenger of good news.

⁴ »You fast for contention and strife and to strike with a wicked fist. You do not fast today to make your voice heard on high.

¹ The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord Jehovah is upon me, because Jehovah has anointed me to announce good news to the lowly and meek. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to captives and freedom to prisoners.

²⁰ »Go up to Lebanon and cry out! Lift up your voice in Bashan. Cry out also from Abarim, for all your lovers have been crushed.

⁴⁷ »Repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name to all the nations, beginning from Jerusalem.

¹⁴ But Peter, stood up with the eleven, lifted up his voice, and said to them: »You men of Judea, and all you who dwell at Jerusalem let me explain this to you. Listen to my words.

¹³ They observed the confidence of Peter and John. Yet they thought they were uneducated (not formally educated) and ordinary men. They were amazed and recognized them as having been with Jesus.

²⁹ »Now Jehovah behold their threats and grant that your servants keep speaking your word with boldness.

⁴¹ They left the council and rejoiced that they were counted worthy to suffer shame for his name. ⁴² They taught daily in the temple and in every house. They did not cease to teach and preach Jesus Christ.

¹⁸ I say: Have they not heard? Yes in fact their sound went »into all the earth, and their words to the ends of the inhabited earth.« (Psalm 19:4)

¹⁹ Pray on my behalf, that ability to speak may be given to me, to make known with boldness the secret of the good news.

²⁸ Do not be frightened by opponents. This is evidence of destruction for them and salvation for you from God. ²⁹ It has been granted to you in behalf of Christ. Not only to believe on him, but also to suffer in his behalf.

¹⁶ The secret of godliness is great and it is without controversy. ‘He (Jesus Christ) was manifested (revealed) in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, and seen by angels. He preached among the nations, was believed on in the world, and received up in glory.’

¹⁴ Even if you suffer for righteousness’ sake, you are blessed. Do not fear! Do not be troubled (distressed) (intimidated)!

²⁰ We know that the Son of God has come and has given us understanding. We know him that is true for we are in him who is true, [and] in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God and everlasting life. ²¹ My little children guard (protect) yourselves from idols.
