¹ Flee for safety people of Benjamin. Run from the midst of Jerusalem! Blow a ram’s horn in Tekoa and raise a signal over Beth-haccerem. Evil looks down from the north. There is great destruction.

¹⁷ Pick up your bundle from the ground, you who dwell under siege! ¹⁸ Jehovah says: »I am evicting the inhabitants of the land at this time. I will cause them distress that they may be found.«

²² The report has arrived. Listen! An incredible uproar is coming from the land of the north. Its army will destroy Judah's cities and make them homes for jackals.

⁹ so I am going to send for all the families from the north. I will also send for my servant King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon,« says Jehovah. »I will bring the families from the north to attack this land, its people, and all these surrounding nations. I am going to destroy them and turn them into something terrible, something ridiculed, and something permanently ruined.

⁷ »The Lord Jehovah says: ‘I will bring upon Tyre from the north Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon. He is king of kings. He has many horses, chariots, cavalry and a great army. ⁸ ‘»He will slay your daughters on the mainland with the sword. He will make siege walls against you, cast up a ramp against you and raise up a large shield against you. ⁹ »‘He will direct the blow of his battering rams against your walls. He will break down your towers with his axes. ¹⁰ »‘Dust raised by the vast number of his horses will cover you. The noise of cavalry, wagons and chariots will shake your walls.
