³ »Tell your children about it, and let your children tell their children, and their children to each new generation.

¹ Jehovah told Moses: »Go back to the king. I have made him and his officials stubborn, so that I could work these signs. ² »I did this because I want you to tell your children and your grandchildren about the mighty things and the signs I have done in Egypt. Then all of you will know that I am Jehovah.«

¹⁴ »In the future when your children ask you, ‘What does this mean?’ tell them: ‘Jehovah used his mighty hand to bring us out of slavery in Egypt.’’«

⁷ »Carefully teach them to your sons. Talk of them when you sit in your house and when you walk by the way. Speak about them when you lie down, and when you rise up.

⁶ »This may be a sign among you when your children ask their fathers what is the meaning of these stones? ⁷ »You will answer them that the waters of the Jordan were cut off before the Ark of the Covenant of Jehovah. When it passed over Jordan, the waters of the Jordan were cut off. These stones will be for a memorial to the children of Israel for as long as they live.«

²¹ He spoke to the children of Israel: »When your children will ask their fathers in time to come, what these stones mean? ²² »Then you will let your children know, saying: Israel came over this Jordan River on dry land.

¹ ([Sons of Korah]) O God, we have heard with our ears and our fathers told us about the work that you did in their days, in the days of old.

¹⁸ And even when I am old and gray, O God, do not forsake me, until I declare your strength to this generation, your power to all who are to come.

³ That we have heard and known and our fathers have told us. ⁴ We will not conceal them from their children, but tell to the generation to come the praises of Jehovah, and his strength and his wondrous works that he has done. ⁵ He established a testimony in Jacob and appointed a law in Israel. This he commanded our fathers that they should teach them to their children, ⁶ That the generation to come might know, the children to be born, that they may arise and tell to their children, ⁷ That they should put their confidence in God and not forget the works of God but keep his commandments. ⁸ They should not be like their fathers, a stubborn and rebellious generation, a generation that did not prepare its heart and whose spirit was not faithful to God.

⁴ One generation shall praise your works to another. They will declare your mighty acts.

¹⁹ »The living, yes the living praise you, as I am doing today! Fathers tell their children about your faithfulness.
