⁷ Correct a scoffer and get dishonor for yourself. Rebuke a wicked man and receive insults. ⁸ Correct a scoffer (mocker) (scorner) and he will hate you. Reprove a wise man and he will love you. ⁹ Give instruction to a wise man and he will become even wiser. Teach a righteous man, and he will increase his learning (insight).

¹² A scoffer hates the one who reproves him. He will not go to the wise.
