⁹ Moses made a copper snake and put it on a pole. People looked at the copper snake after they were bitten and lived.

⁴ He removed the high places. He broke the stone pillars to bits, and cut down the Asherah poles. The brass snake that Moses had made was crushed to powder at his command, because in those days the children of Israel had offerings burned before it, and he gave it the name Nehushtan.

²² »Turn to me and be saved! Turn to me all who live at the ends of the earth for I am God, and there is no other.

¹⁰ »I will pour upon the house of David, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the spirit of kindness and of supplication. They will look to the one whom they pierced; and they will mourn for him, as one mourns for his only son. There will be a bitter lamentation for him, like one who grieves for his first-born.

¹⁷ It reveals the righteousness of God from faith-to-faith for it is written: »The righteous shall live by faith.«

³ God did what the Law could not do, because human nature was weak. He sent his own son in the likeness of sinful man to be a sin offering and do away with sin. So he condemned sin in sinful human nature.

²⁰ The law came that the trespass might increase. But where sin increased God’s loving kindness increased even more. ²¹ And what for? Just as sin reigned in death, even so might grace reign through righteousness to everlasting life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

²¹ He made the one who knew no sin to be sin on our behalf. That way we might become the righteousness of God in him.

² Look to (consider without distractions) Jesus, the Leader (Predecessor) and Finisher (Perfecter) of our faith. He despised the shame. He endured the stake for the joy that was set before him. Then he sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

⁸ He who sins is of the devil. For the devil sinned from the beginning. To this end the Son of God was made known (manifested), that he might destroy the works of the devil.
