⁹ The voice of Jehovah makes the deer to calve and strips the forests bare. In His temple everything says: »Glory!«

¹ »Do you know when the mountain goats give birth? Do you observe the calving of the deer? ² »Can you number the months that they fulfill, and do you know the time when they give birth, ³ when they crouch to give birth to their offspring, and are delivered of their young?

⁸ O Jehovah, I love the place where you live, the home (spiritual retreat) (heart and mind) where your glory dwells.

² Therefore we will not fear, though the earth should change and though the mountains slip into the heart of the sea. ³ Though its waters roar and foam, though the mountains quake at its arrogance. ⁴ There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God, The holy dwelling places of the Most High. ⁵ God is at the center of her and she will not be moved. God will help her when morning appears.

⁹ We have thought about (considered) (compared) your loving-kindness, O God, in the midst of your Temple.

² I look for you in the holy place to see your power and your glory.

¹ Bless Jehovah all you servants of Jehovah. You who serve by night in the house of Jehovah! ² Lift up your hands in holiness and bless Jehovah.

¹ Praise Jehovah! Praise the name of Jehovah. Praise him you servants of Jehovah. ² You who stand in the house of Jehovah, in the courtyard of the house of our God,

¹⁸ This wickedness is like a brushfire. It burns not only briers and thorns but the forests, too. It sends up vast clouds of smoke.

¹⁸ It will completely destroy the splendor of his forests and fertile fields, as when a sick man wastes away. ¹⁹ And the remaining trees of his forests will be so few that a child could write them down.

⁴⁶ »Son of man, turn to the south, preach against the south, and prophesy against the forest in the Negev. ⁴⁷ »Tell the forest in the Negev: ‘Listen to the word of Jehovah. This is what the Lord Jehovah says: »I am about to set fire to you to destroy all your green trees and all your dry trees. The blazing fire will not be put out. It will burn the whole land from the south to the north. ⁴⁸ »Then everyone will know that I, Jehovah, started the fire. It will never be put out.«’«
