⁷ By your favor, O Jehovah, you made my mountain to stand strong. You hid your face and I was alarmed (dismayed).

¹⁷ »‘My anger will be kindled against them in that day. I will abandon them and hide my face from them. They will be consumed by many evils and troubles. They will say in that day: ‘Is it because our God is not among us that these evils have come upon us?’

²⁶ »O JEHOVAH, YOU ARE GOD! You have promised these good things to your servant. ²⁷ »You have been pleased to bless the house of your servant that it may continue for a very long time in your sight. You Jehovah have blessed it and it will be blessed from generation to generation.«

¹² »‘You granted me life and showed me kindness. Your providence preserved my spirit.

²⁶ »When I expected good evil came. When I waited for light darkness came. ²⁷ »I am seething within and cannot relax! Days of affliction confront me. ²⁸ »I go about mourning without comfort. I stand up in the assembly and cry out for help. ²⁹ »I am a brother to jackals and a companion of ostriches. ³⁰ »My skin grows black on me and my bones burn with fever. ³¹ »Therefore my harp is turned to mourning, and my flute to the sound of those who weep.

¹² You bless the righteous man, O Jehovah. You surround him with favor as with a shield.

¹ Why are you so distant, Jehovah? Why do you hide in times of trouble?

¹ ([Psalm of David]) How long, O Jehovah? Will you forget me forever? How long will you hide your face from me? ² How long must I make decisions alone with sorrow in my heart day after day? How long will my enemy triumph over me?

³⁵ You have given me the shield of your salvation. Your right hand supports me. Your gentleness (humility) (meekness) makes me great. ³⁶ You make a wide path for me to walk on so that my feet do not slip.

⁵ For His anger is only for a moment. His favor is for a lifetime! Weeping may last for the night but a shout of joy comes in the morning.

² He brought me up out of the pit of destruction, out of the mud and clay. He set my feet upon a rock and made me stand erect.

³ It was not with their swords that they took possession of the land. They did not gain victory with their own strength. It was your right hand, your arm (power), and the light of your presence that did it, because you were pleased with them.

¹⁷ For you are the glory of their strength and by your favor our horn (strength) is exalted (increased).

¹⁰ This is because of your indignation and your anger. You have lifted me up and cast me away.

²⁹ You hide your face, and they are frightened. You take away their breath, and they die and return to dust.

⁷ Answer me quickly, O Jehovah for my spirit fails. Do not hide your face from me or I will become like those who go down to the pit.

¹⁷ »Yes, it was for my benefit that I suffered such distress. In your love you kept me from the pit of destruction. You have put (thrown) (hurled) all my sins behind your back.
