¹⁹ Once you spoke in vision to your godly ones. You said: »I have given help to one who is mighty. I have exalted one chosen from the people.«

¹ Jehovah said to Samuel: »How long will you mourn for Saul? After all I have rejected him from being king over Israel? Take oil in your vessel and go. I will send you to Jesse, the Beth-lehemite. I have a king from among his sons.«

¹⁸ One of his attendants said: »Jesse of the town of Bethlehem has a son who is a good musician. He is also a brave and handsome man, a good soldier, and an able speaker. Jehovah is with him.«

⁸ »Say this to my servant David: ‘This is what Jehovah of Hosts says: I took you from the pasture where you followed sheep so that you could be the leader of my people Israel. ⁹ »‘I was with you wherever you went. I destroyed all your enemies in front of you. I will make your name famous like the names of the greatest people on earth. ¹⁰ »‘I will make a place for my people Israel and plant them there. They will dwell in their own place and not be troubled anymore. The wicked will not oppress them as they used to do ¹¹ when I let judges rule my people. I have kept your enemies from attacking you. Now I promise that you and your descendants will be kings. ¹² »‘I will choose one of your sons to be king when you reach the end of your life and are buried in the tomb of your ancestors. I will make him a strong ruler. ¹³ »‘I will allow no one to take his long lasting kingdom away from him. He will be the one to build a temple for me. ¹⁴ »‘I will be his father. He will be my son. When he does wrong I will correct him just as parents correct children. ¹⁵ »‘I will never put an end to my agreement with him. I put an end to my agreement with Saul when he was king before you. ¹⁶ »‘I will make sure that one of your descendants will be king for a very long time. Your throne will be established from generation to generation.’« ¹⁷ Nathan told David exactly what he heard in the vision.

¹⁰ »Even the bravest man with a heart like a lion would lose his courage. All Israel knows that your father is a mighty man and the men with him are brave.

³⁴ »‘I will not take the entire kingdom away from Solomon. I will keep him in power as long as he lives. This I will do for the sake of my servant David, whom I chose and who obeyed my laws and commands.

³ My tears have been my food day and night, while they say to me all day long: Where is your God?

³ »I made a covenant with my chosen; I swore to David my servant:

⁶ For unto us a child is born. Unto us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. He will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, and Prince of Peace.

²¹ »Their leader will be someone from their own people. Their ruler will come from among them. I will bring him near, and he will come close to me. Who would dare to come near me?« Declares Jehovah.

²⁴ »What do you want with us Jesus of Nazareth? Have you come to destroy us? I know who you are. You are the Holy One of God!«

⁷⁰ »He spoke by the mouth of his holy prophets from ages past.

⁶ He existed in the form (shape and nature) of God but did not try to be equal with God. He did not even consider it! ⁷ He emptied (humbled) himself by taking the form of a servant. He was made in the likeness of men. ⁸ He obtained the appearance as a man, humbled himself, and became obedient even to death, yes, death on the stake. ⁹ For this reason God highly exalted him, and gave to him the name that is above every name, (Relative authority given by Jehovah God, the Father to His Son) (Philipians 2:11) ¹⁰ that in the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven and things on earth and things under the earth, ¹¹ and every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

⁹ We see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels and crowned with glory and honor for suffering death. By the grace of God he tasted death for every man. ¹⁰ It was appropriate that he, for whom and by whom all things exist, should bring many sons to glory, to make the Chief Agent of their salvation perfect through suffering. ¹¹ Both he who sanctifies and they who are sanctified are all from one. For this reason Jesus is not ashamed to call them »brothers«. ¹² He says: »I will declare your name to my brothers; in the middle of the congregation I will sing praises to you.« ¹³ And again: »I will put my trust in him.« And again: »Behold, the children that Jehovah has given me.« (Isaiah 8:18) ¹⁴ Since the »children« are partakers of flesh and blood, he also took part of the same things, that through death he might destroy him that had the power to cause death, [Satan] the Devil. ¹⁵ And deliver them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage. ¹⁶ He does not help the angels, but he helps the seed of Abraham. ¹⁷ This means that he had to become like his »brothers« in every way, in order to be their faithful and merciful High Priest in his service to God, in order to offer a propitiatory sacrifice (pay atonement) (to make reconciliation) for the sins of the people.

²¹ For no prophecy ever came by the will of man! Men spoke from God, being moved by the Holy Spirit.

² You should remember the words that were spoken before by the holy prophets, and the commandments of the Lord and Savior through your apostles.
