¹² Therefore, through one-man sin entered into the world, and death through sin. So death passed to all men, for all have sinned.

¹⁷ »But you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. When you eat of it you will surely die.«

⁶ When the woman saw that the fruit of the tree was good for food and pleasing to the eye, and also desirable for gaining wisdom, she took some and ate it. She also gave some to her husband, who was with her, and he ate it.

²² Jehovah said: »The man has now become like one of us, knowing good and evil. He must not be allowed to reach out his hand and take also from the tree of life and eat, and live forever.« ²³ Therefore Jehovah God banished him from the Garden of Eden to work the ground from which he had been taken. ²⁴ After he drove the man out, he placed on the east side of the Garden of Eden cherubim and a flaming sword flashing back and forth to guard the way to the tree of life.

⁵ Indeed, I was born in perversity (mischief) (evil). I was a sinner when my mother conceived me.

⁴ ‘»The life of every person belongs to me. The life of the father as well as the life of the son is mine. The person who sins will die.

²³ For the wages of sin is death, but the gift from God is everlasting life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

²³ For all have sinned, and fall short of the glory of God

¹⁴ Nevertheless death reigned from Adam until Moses, even for those who had not sinned after the likeness of Adam’s transgression. Adam is in some ways like Christ who came later. ¹⁵ But the two are not the same, because God’s gift (spiritual endowment) is not like Adam’s sin. It is true that many people died because of the sin of that one man. But God’s grace is much greater, and so is his gift to so many people through the loving-kindness of the one man, Jesus Christ. ¹⁶ And there is a difference between God’s gift (spiritual endowment) and the sin of one man. After the one sin, came the guilty judgment; but after so many sins, comes the undeserved gift of righteousness. ¹⁷ It was by the transgression of the one that death ruled as king through that one. Even more so shall those who receive the abundance of grace, and of the gift of righteousness, rule as kings in life by the one, Jesus Christ.

¹⁹ Through the disobedience of one man many have been made sinners. Yet through the obedience of one man many will be made righteous.

²¹ And what for? Just as sin reigned in death, even so might grace reign through righteousness to everlasting life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

²¹ Death came because of what one man did. The resurrection of the dead also comes because of what one man did. ²² In Adam all die, even so in Christ all shall be made alive.

¹⁵ Then evil desires, when conceived, give birth to sin: and the sin, when it is full grown, brings forth death.

⁸ If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. ⁹ If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. ¹⁰ If we say we have not sinned we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.

² We all stumble in many things. If any do not stumble in word, he is a perfect man, able to restrain (control) the whole body.

¹⁴ Death and the grave were hurled into the lake of fire. This is the second death. ¹⁵ Whoever was not found written in the book of life was hurled (thrust) (thrown) into the lake of fire.
