⁴ at which they are astonished that ye run not with them to the same excess of riot, speaking evil of you;

²⁵ Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye make clean the outside of the cup and the platter, but within they are full of robbery and licentiousness.

¹³ And not many days after, the younger son gathered all together, and went abroad into a far country; and there wasted his substance in riotous living.

⁴⁵ But when the Jews saw the multitudes, they were filled with indignation, and spoke against what was spoken by Paul, contradicting and reviling.

¹³ Let us walk becomingly, as in the day; not in reveling and drunkenness, not in lewdness and wantonness, not in strife and envy;

¹² having your manner of life among the gentiles honorable; that, whereas they speak against you as evildoers, they may by your good works, which they behold, glorify God in the day of visitation.

¹⁶ having a good conscience, that, wherein ye are evil spoken of, they may be ashamed that falsely accuse your good conduct in Christ.

¹² but these, as brute beasts, by nature born to be taken and destroyed, railing at things which they understand not, shall even perish in their own corruption,

²² It hath happened to them according to the true proverb, The dog returned to his own vomit; and, The sow that was washed, to her wallowing in the mire.

¹⁰ But these rail at the things which they know not; but what things they understand naturally, as brute beasts, in these they corrupt themselves.
