³ Therefore, brethren, look out among you seven men of good repute, full of the Spirit and of wisdom, whom we will appoint over this business;

⁸ But be not ye called Rabbi; for one is your teacher; and ye are all brethren.

²¹ Of these men, therefore, who accompanied us all the time that the Lord Jesus went in and out among us,

⁴ And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and began to speak with other tongues, even as the Spirit gave them utterance.

⁶ whom they set before the apostles; and when they had prayed, they laid their hands on them.

³⁰ But the brethren obtaining knowledge of it, brought him down to Caesarea, and sent him forth to Tarsus.

²² And they said, Cornelius a centurion, a righteous man, and one that feareth God, and of good report among all the nation of the Jews, was warned from God by a holy angel to send for thee to his house, and to hear words from thee.

² And while they were ministering to the Lord, and fasting, the Holy Spirit said, Set apart for me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them. ³ Then, after they had fasted and prayed, and laid their hands on them, they sent them away.

²³ And they wrote by them, "The apostles, and the elders, and the brethren, to the brethren who are from the gentiles in Antioch and Syria and Cilicia, greeting.

² who was well a spoken of by the brethren in Lystra and Iconium.

¹² But one Ananias, a devout man according to the Law, well spoken of by all the Jews who dwelt there,

⁸ For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge, according to the same Spirit;

³ And when I am with you, I will send with letters whomever you may approve to carry your bounty to Jerusalem;

¹⁹ and not that only, but who was also appointed by the churches as our fellowtraveler in the matter of this bounty, which is administered by us to the honor of the Lord himself, and of our ready mind; ²⁰ since we are careful of this, that no one should blame us in our management of this abundant liberality; ²¹ for we take forethought for what is honorable, not only in the sight of the Lord, but also in the sight of men.

¹⁸ And be not drunk with wine, in which is dissoluteness, but be filled with the Spirit,

⁷ moreover he must also have a good report from them that are without, lest he fall into reproach and the snare of the Devil. ⁸ Deacons in like manner must be grave, not doubletongued, not given to much wine, not greedy of base gain, ⁹ holding the mystery of the faith in a pure conscience. ¹⁰ And let these also first be proved; then let them serve as deacons, if they are without reproach. ¹¹ The women in like manner must be grave, not slanderers, sober, faithful in all things. ¹² Let the deacons be the husbands of one wife, ruling their children and their own houses well. ¹³ For they that have served well as deacons, gain for themselves a good standing, and great boldness in the faith which is in Christ Jesus. ¹⁴ These things write I to thee, hoping to come to thee shortly; ¹⁵ but if I should tarry long, that thou mayst know how thou oughtest to conduct thyself in the house of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and foundation of the truth.

¹⁰ well reported of for good works; if she have brought up children, if she have lodged strangers, if she have washed the saints feet, if she have relieved the afflicted, if she have diligently followed every good work.

¹⁷ Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the lights, with whom is no change, nor shadow from turning.

¹⁷ But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, easy to be entreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, without hypocrisy. ¹⁸ And the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace.

¹⁴ We know that we have passed out of death into life, because we love the brethren; he that loveth not abideth in death. ¹⁵ Whoever hateth his brother is a murderer; and ye know that no murderer hath everlasting life abiding in him. ¹⁶ Herein we know love, in that he laid down his life for us; and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren.

¹² To Demetrius testimony hath been borne by all, and by the truth itself; yea, we also bear witness, and ye know that our witness is true.
